I was reading a lot of subpar rating about this place so I was skeptical going in. However, my experience was extremely pleasing today! Herbie’s Place is a nice, mom and pop diner, with good food, and great service! I went in, and was taken care of within minutes as they were pretty busy! One waitress, a brunette, gave me a menu, another waitress with blonde hair got my drink, and another waitress who also had blonde hair, but had it ties up in a ponytail, took my order! It was kind of like Round Robin, but I never complained as my drink was ALWAYS filled without asking, and my food came out before I could blink I swear! I got the«Ultimate Breakfast which came with 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, a sausage patty, hashbrowns, and two pieces of toast. I also got me some French toast since I was super hungry! Everything was delicious and I had no complaints about ANYTHING! The hashbrown were really crispy which I like, and the sausage patty was hot, which I loved as well since it seems like most places don’t use hot sausage like they used to these days. I even got a to-go cup once the waitresses had noticed I was finished eating. This place was AMAZING! I don’t know if it’s other waitresses that work there on a different shift that got this place some poor ratings or what, but my experience was fantastic! Now I know what time to go, and what waitresses to look for, before expecting something different! I will be back for sure!

I own a business up the street from here, so when I think of breakfast on my way in to work, Herbies is what comes to mind. The prices are very affordable, the food is good, and the staff offers great service. I’d rather come support a local business than an «Ihop» or chain restaurant…

Friendly efficient wait staff, classic southern diner breakfast fare… best creamy grits in town. Don’t miss the hashbrowns with cheese and onions! Fast meals for weekday lunches but if you go on Sunday after 11am be prepared to stand in line… a popular spot.

Come for the local flavor, which is a cool vibe. Don’t come for the food. It really is a 2.

Years ago this use to be the place to grab a quick bite, but not anymore. Fast yes. Friendly no. Ordered biscuit and gravy, biscuit had been microwaved and was chewy. Gravy was bland no seasoning whatsoever. Bacon was half cooked. Cheap yes, you get what you pay for.

Been a regular here for years. Great food, wonderful people. The food tastes like something right out of your own kitchen.

In short, this place is a Waffle House’esque restaurant but with friendlier waitresses. The food is cheap but good value for the money. The service is FAST. You order your food and it’s in front of you in about 5 minutes. On a side note: They have a couple bird feeders set up outside the north end of the restaurant. We really enjoy watching the birds, squirrels and chipmunks from our table. On a funny note: The A&Y Greenway runs right behind the restaurant where you will see the occasional runner/cyclist going by. Don’t let this make you feel guilty while you are padding your midsection with sausage and bacon.

I’ve been coming here for years! The staff is awesome from the owner to the busboys! Their coffee is superb! The food is great too! They have an extensive menu that now includes waffles! Everyone is friendly even when it’s busy! If you come with the least bit of regularity, they recognize you readily. Highly recommended!

This place is adorable, what a cool idea for a restaurant. Only had to wait a few minutes for a table, as it always seems to be packed. Service was lightning fast and mmmm were the pancakes delicious! There’s a walking/running trail behind the restaurant which makes you feel super fat and happy as you watch them torture themselves while you’re stuffing your face. Would definitely come back, really cheap specials and the food was great!

Okay, so I love a good diner! Huge fan of a great dive! That being said this is NOT one of them. The coffee was horrible. The silverware had a strange film on it. The grits tasted like they were cooked in dish water and I’m not sure what was happening with the sausage. For some reason the parking lot is full and this place is busy but don’t be fooled like I was. Keep driving.

I love this place! I go a couple times a week to get breakfast anytime I want and it’s always delicious. I will say, I’ve only tried the breakfast food, but everything has been wonderful. It’s a diner, so it’s not fancy, but the service has been pretty great.

I haven’t been to greensboro in years, and boy am I glad I stopped in here. There are two great things about this place. The first is the atmosphere. The staff really makes you feel welcomed, they are friendly and they know when to leave you alone or check in on you. The second is the prices. You really can’t beat some of their deals. The food is pretty good. I mean it’s not bad at all, it’s just not the best food in the world. I will be coming back. Great bang for your buck.

I’ve driven by this place a billion times and never stopped in, however a coupon convinced my husband and I to hive this place a try. Needless to say, we will never go back. You can only expect so much from a diner but even with low expectations this place misses the mark. Our waitress had a terrible attitude and even slammed things on the table. My wster glass was filthy and had food floating in it. The food lacked seasoning and was very bland and sort of stale tasting. Even the cook had his wife bring him some food while he working. You know it’s bad if the employees aren’t eating there. The only plus is that the food is super cheap. That being said, you definitely get what you pay for.

My wife and I took our son this morning for breakfast. For the price you cannot beat the food there. I got the French toast which was delicious, and my wife got the pancakes which were very good, too. My son enjoyed the bacon most of all. It’s been a while since I had been there, but just as good as before. We will definitely be back!

We stopped in to Herbie’s Place because it has been literally taunting us for a few months now every time we drive by it, and of course — because we were hungry. First off, let me say that the place is quite clean contrary to what a few prior reviewers stated. The waitress came over and took our order fairly soon after we arrived, it was here that we learned that when my wife asked for water w/lemon and we were told all that had was lemon juice — it was not from a bottle it was in packets… the coffee was not much better, it was pretty low quality even for diner coffee and there was no actual cream, just the non-refrigerated kind; nobody ever came by and asked if we wanted refills on coffee or water either. Being from the New England and having an unhealthy fascination with biscuits we both ordered some, myself w/sausage gravy and my wife just plain, along with some sausage links which were fairly good, pancakes which were cold on the edge and not entirely cooked, french toast which came doused in butter(which I don’t like, we have syrup for that), and scrambled eggs which were fairly cool when they came to us. The biscuits also tasted just like they were from Pillsbury, and considering we’re(in my mind at least) in the land of biscuits that’s not acceptable, we could have bought a pack of them from the super market and gotten the EXACT same biscuit. Top this off with the fact that the waitress took a good 7 minutes(we were counting by that point) to bring Tabasco sauce and I’m sure you get the picture. That being said the food did not make us sick or anything which is a plus and it was, for the most part, entirely edible, and it was insanely cheap.

Of the local diners, Herbie’s serves some pretty good diner grub at decent prices, at least the breakfast items, but is the most inconsistent as to service and order time to the table — and for that reason if they are even the slightest bit busy, I go elsewhere. The breakfast items are generally pretty solid, though like most diners they struggle here sometimes to properly prepare soft scrambled eggs — only one of the Greensboro diners that always gets it right, is Carolina Diner at Quaker Shopping Center. They offer an Early Bird Special for $ 3.49 — 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 pancakes, and grits good value, usually done well. The other breakfast value is the Ultimate Breakfast for $ 6.19 — 2 eggs, 2 srips of bacon, 2 sausage links, 1 sausage patty, hash browns, and toast — again, good value for the very hungery person, or perhaps a sharing moment. I’ve had the hamburger and the hot dog at lunch, once — and that was enough. Stick with breakfast, pick your time, and bring a little patience. There is a another Herbie’s Place on High Point Road, must have been some connection at some point, but seems no love lost between them now.
