I came here with my friends and the food was great! It was out in no time! My waiter(dashaunta) was very nice & helpful! She had a wonderful personality, the staff is very welcoming as well. This was my 2nd time eating here and once again it was great! It’s also a great place to just hang out after classes or school. Bottom line, my experience was wonderful! I would recommend this place to anyone!

We’ve been here 37 minutes. We ordered 1 meal and one coffee. Coffee never came. Walked up and poured my own. We’re still waiting. Water glasses are low, waitress asks if we want more. Cmon, just fill a water glass up. Is that a real question? I’m 5 min away from just getting up and leaving. Well, I gave them 10 to be nice. Headed out the door. I guess we’ll get brunch somewhere else. Good luck with this place.

I gave this place the benefit of the doubt, as I was told by a few people that this diner was not that great. I wish I had listened to them. This is was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The waitress was nice, but it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. After taking our drink orders, a different waitress had to bring us our drinks after waiting for almost 10 minutes. Then we waited nearly 45 minutes for our food.(A couple had sat down next to us as we got our food, and they received their food within 15 minutes) During our wait, our waitress visited us frequently, apologizing and to inform us that they only had one cook and that their dishwasher was helping them cook.(what???) She also kept asking me if I wanted coffee, even after telling her I didn’t want any until we got our food, but she kept asking OVERANDOVER. It started getting annoying after the 5th time she asked. My husband’s food was okay,(although he said it was definitely not worth the wait), but mine was horrible. I ordered over easy eggs, and I received fried eggs. My pancakes tasted like they sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes, and the home fries had absolutely no flavor to them. I also had to ask for butter 3 times. I couldn’t eat most of my food and left the diner still hungry. If you’re looking for a great breakfast place with good prices, just head to Scrambled down the street. There is sometimes a little wait, but they are actually WORTHIT. This place is not.

We waited forever to get our food and watched 2 families walk out because they waited for so long. After an hour of waiting, we finally received our food it was not good. The biscuit was burned and the pancakes where raw tasting. However the staff was very nice and apologized many times for the wait saying that it was not normally like this.

I didnt like it and I had high hopes as its close to my apartment. Eggs for omlet are over cooked. The potatoes are like prison slop. It also took about 30 to 40 mins and we were the only guest which was a party of two. Oh well i will give the pther new breakfast spot a shot.

OMG… not sure what these other reviewers are talking about. My wife and I had the worst experience in this place this morning and we did not even have a chance to try the food. We are experienced foodies. Our go to place is Smith Street Diner for breakfast but we decided to try out Spring Garden Diner today. What a mistake this was! When we walked in the place it was not even busy and there was no one at the door to greet us or tell us what the seating system was. We stood there for a few minutes and we did not even see a server. So I walked around and saw a server sitting at the bar and of course she hopped up like we surprised her. After all that she tells us we can sit anywhere. We chose a booth but realized it was not cleaned but we thought for sure someone would be by to take our order and wipe down our table. Well, a few minutes goes by, 5 minutes goes by,(still no server) then another couple walks in, then 10 minutes goes by,(still no server) but the other couple got served before we did and that was it for us. I spoke to the servers and told them what was going on and both of them looked like two deers in the road that I just shined my headlights on. They mumbled that they were just coming to serve us but had no answer for how the couple that came in after us got served first. Poor service, poor management, and my guess is poor food. Stay away from this place… BTW, we had a great breakfast at Smith Street as usual.

Well I walked in and see my great friend Trey working the line!!! That was so fun. We chatted with everyone working here, including the owner. They made us both costume orders(we are picky and most restaurants hate us) but they were super sweet and didn’t mind at all! Ummm and their homemade cake looks insanely good. The inside is really cute and they have bar seating and an outside picnic table and will be opening 24hrs in the coming year! Okay so the food was awesome. I got tea and a rye grilled cheese with turkey bacon and sriracha mmmmm. And bae got mandarin orange wings!!! Also great, they rival my fav wings in Greensboro(LPFS) Yummy y’all gotta try it !

Pull into the parking lot and check out the mural on the building. If you like the mural, you’ll probably like the food. I thought they were both gross.

Pretty standard diner menu and preparation. We went for breakfast and got omelets. They were well prepared. The home fries were prepared in an atypical manner. Not crispy, but still good. Our server was very personable and diligent with refills and checking in. The interior is simple and pleasant. While parking is tight, the interior set up is quite spacious. Overall, a welcome addition to Greensboro and certainly worth checking out if you’re looking for well-prepared diner food.

The staff and atmosphere are great, but the pancakes are truly phenomenal! I ordered two over easy eggs with two sausage patties and home fries, eggs were perfectly runny and the home fries were these delicious little rounds instead of what you normally get(I’m not a fan of the shredded home fries that some places offer). Boyfriend got the«hungry man breakfast» basically my order plus bacon and pancakes. Here’s where I had an opportunity to try the pancakes– they were so good! We talked about how delicious they were for 5 minutes then had to go home and nap bc they were just that good. Bottom line, we will be going back and getting more pancakes very soon(and home fries too, for sure) but everything we had was great. I also want to try their lunch menu. Great prices, great diner comfort food.

This is a nice new restaurant on the corner of spring garden and chapman. The building has been previously occupied by an Italian restaurant and a sushi restaurant. Hopefully the new owners will find more success than the previous ones. My buddy and I came for breakfast around 9am on a Tuesday and shortly after the diner filled up pretty quickly. The food at the restaurant was pretty good, nothing overly special. I ordered the Breakfast special. It comes with two pancakes, two eggs, home fries or grits, toast, and your choice of sausage or bacon all for five dollars. Since I am a pescatarian they let me substitute the meat for an extra egg. I ordered my eggs poached and they made some of the best poached eggs I have ever had. The yolk was cooked to the perfect runny consistency and the white was cooked perfect, not over or under. The eggs stayed the same consistency throughout the meal as well. The pancakes themselves were also pretty tasty. The home fries were a little disappointing because they seemed to have the potential to taste very good, but they weren’t warm, more like room temperature. They are different, nothing like I have seen before, tiny little round potato balls. All in all the food isn’t bad and the value is great. My meal cost me $ 5 dollars and I definitely left full, who can complain about that! This diner is a good addition to the area and I am sure once the UNCG student body learns of it they will flourish. I look forward to trying there lunch menu as well.

Spring Garden Diner is exactly what I want from a diner. The décor is simple, the menu is simple, and it all works. I had a cheeseburger, because I think that’s the best way to gauge a new place: easy to make, hard to make well. I got one with all the fixings, and it was perfect. Nice crispy outside, perfectly seasoned, and cooked exactly to order. The fries were great as well. They were shoestring style with salt and pepper, and tasted exactly like the fries I loved as a kid. The booths range in size, with big ones accommodating several families when I was there. I sat in a small one by the window and got the classic dining-alone diner vibe. I’ll have to stop by for breakfast on my way to campus as they advertise a to-go coffee and muffin for only $ 2.50. My only complaint is that the coffee seems to be low quality, but hey, that’s all part of the diner experience.

They’ve been open half a week and I’ve already been here twice… in one day. Exactly what a diner should be. Menu is limited to exactly what a diner should cook. There isn’t a 4 page menu of items that taste like crap; and don’t come here looking for some fancy burger or steak. Double sided menu that consists of simple and great tasting basics from the breakfast lunch and dinner category. Quality over quantity here So far have had both breakfast and dinner items here and they were 10⁄10. Home fries are cast iron cooked and seasoned perfectly. Dessert peach pie that came with the baked chicken dinner special was homemade. Parking is a little tight depending on if the asshat who parked next to you can stay in the lines but the food that awaits is completely worth it. Make sure to check the special board when you come in the entrance by the register!!! Left feeling full each time and completely satisfied.

Like many diner style restaurants, they serve breakfast all day; with the typical diner breakfast — but the veggies I saw in the omelets and home fries were fresh, not frozen here. They also have large salads and sandwiches. They offer 5 – 6 entrée selections with several sides to choose from. Each night they designate one entrée a «special» and include a dessert in the price of the plate. Desserts are made on the premises by one of the owners. I had no doubt the food we tried was freshly prepared. The serving staff were very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. Seating is at simple laminated tables and booths, with a basic décor. They also have a counter near the front door for additional seating, and might be of interest to single diners not wishing to take an entire table. Parking could be a challenge. You need to enter their parking lot from Chapman St(by Music Barn) because the parking spaces are lined at an angle which would be difficult to use coming from the other direction. There are arrows on the pavement showing this direction of traffic flow. Upon leaving, exit onto Spring Garden St.
