Pros: Extensive menu. Very low prices. Friendly employees. Cons: Slow service. Not my favorite brunch place but is great if you are looking for classic diner food.

Food ok diner fare, sausage gravy is good, atmosphere however… A very strange gentleman in a biker jacket stared at me the entire meal and the gentleman next to me — in a virtually empty restaurant — refused to let my son sit next to me at the counter as the seat was«reserved» for some invisible compatriot. Unless you’re into hangover fights with unshowered patrons, you can easily do better.

We didn’t have a very good experience here. The sausage was really good, but the pancakes, eggs and hashbrowns were all REALLY bland, and the service was terrible. Nothing I love hearing more at 9am on a Sunday than the entire waitstaff discussing when they got drunk for the first time. I just thought it was really inappropriate for any time of day to be having a conversation like that in front of your customers. Even without that though, the food sucked and I’d rather go to Webbs any day of the week.

It is a nice clean breakfast type place. Nice owner who said hello and chatted us up. Will be back.

Went with a large group just after midnight on a Saturday morning while doing the ragnar relay from Madison to Chicago. 1 guy running the kitchen and another guy serving custys. Service was great and food was quality. Definitely hit the spot with the veggie omlet and house potatoes. Not to mention killer chocolate milk. Everyone we were with was completely satisfied with what they had as well.

Unfortunately I to change my review from five stars to one star. About a year and a half ago I went for the first time and had great service and great food. I have gone periodically and seen a slow decline in both. Tonight I went because I was persuaded by a friend and I was sincerely annoyed. Every time I go there are new servers, each one more unfortunate than the one before. I am a server as well so I try to be pretty lax, but being rude, messy, and failing to check on your table is inexcusable. We sat and waited for menus while two servers gabbed with a person getting takeout. We were the only table in the restaurant. The chili was lukewarm, the food was greasy, And the waitress held all the cups with her fingertips by the Rims. Our server set our food and check down and proceeded to smoke a cigarette until she saw us standing there waiting to pay the check 20 minutes later. Even as she was swiping the card, she was checking her phone. I left a 15% tip, not something I normally do, but both servers stared at me as if I had stiffed them. I have to wonder why the turnover rate is so high, I get that its a diner but somethings not right. I worked in a diner for six year through college, they can still be great places to eat, but this one missed the mark so hard.

I go quite often. Nice place to chill and converse. Typically fast, attentive service. Gets loud at night and during busy times(9am-noon). Immediate seating. Good food and nice counter service for a quick cup of coffee. Friendly employees. If you go enough, they take the time to learn your name and greet you well. Personal service. Still miss when it was Webb’s and lacks the big menu that they use to have. Still one of the better breakfasts in the area.

I had the mushroom swiss burger and the BBQ baked beans. The food took a little while to show up, and when it did, I noticed that the burger patty looked like those served at my school cafeteria in the 1980s, honestly a bit mystery meat like. The swiss was pasteurized processed. My baked beans were on the cold side of lukewarm, and after the first couple of bites I decided there wasn’t really much point in asking to have them warmed up because I didn’t have much appetite any more. My husband went with a breakfast platter, and I think that is what I should have done. The employees were friendly, but I certainly wasn’t thrilled with my meal choice.

I was with a group of 12 people doing a Relay Race through the state of Wisconsin back to Chicago. We stopped at Griddler’s at midnight and had one of the best breakfasts ever. The staff was only two guys we had our food out in 15 minutes. Pancakes and sausage are the staple but everyone said everything else was really good too. Not only that, but I left my wallet on the table. The next day, I got a call from one of the managers who had picked it up and they mailed it back to me with everything right where it was when I left it. They’re the best and I’ll be back next time I’m in Wisconsin.

We had a decent lunch there, & the chili was pretty good. Its still Webbs-esque as fast as having the counter style service & is nice when u just want some decent no frills food. I like it that they have simple sandwiches made w fresh ingredients. service was good. Its one of the best options for basic & reasonably healthy in the S 27th /Layton area. Other than this, its all national food chains & Kopps. I love Kopps, but no healthy food there!

I’m sad to report… Last night we went to «George Webbs» off of 76th street, and were awakened by introduction to Griddlers Café. Service was very friendly and upbeat. She even ground some new coffee beans and made a fresh pot of coffee just for one person. Then the disappointment… that George Webbs was no longer. I got the muffin sandwich with egg and bacon, along with a side of hash browns. Bacon was decent. The rest tasted flavorless… muffin difficult to choke down, egg was questionably real, and hash browns like cardboard. They still have chili, but now it’s called Firehouse Chili. As a marketer, I question whether or not they actually thought about their core customer. The menu uses a very tiny font, and it seems as if they’re trying to be too clever and trendy for a place that just seems like they’re trying to hide George Webbs. George Webbs is iconic for Milwaukee; you can’t hide it with new maroon and gold sheen placemats. I understand that Griddlers was opened because the owners disliked George Webbs new franchise model. I liken this change of name, and steal of the George Webbs model to China reproducing copyrighted merchandise. If the owners are so disenfranchized than make a restaurant of your own dreams.
