I stayed at the Hibiscus Guesthouse with my boyfriend for one night over this past Labor Day weekend. We had a lovely time and are already planning a trip back. I think the gentleman who checked us in was either the owner or manager. He was very laid back and friendly. We arrived an hour or so before our check in time but our room was just about ready, so the process was easy. We stayed in the Art Deco room which has this great private, screened inn porch with a table and chairs, a rocking chair, and a porch swing. The room was clean and a perfect size for two people. We did hear the people above us walking around sometimes, so light sleepers might want to take that into account. It didn’t bother us at all. We had breakfast in the café the next morning, which was included in the stay. That was a nice little bonus. The café was quirky and had lots of fun and funky decorations. Jean served us breakfast, and I believe she is also the housekeeper. She was a very kind woman. The breakfast was actually pretty good and they had a decent amount of choices. The guesthouse is a little farther from the beach than we originally thought, but it was a great walk through the neighborhood. People with walking issues might want to think about that. All in all, we had a wonderful time and will be back soon.

The only reason my rating is 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. It’s really pricey for the size of the room and the overall quality of the stay, but I am still a fan. My husband and I stayed here after our wedding reception at Grayt Grounds. It was lovely. After our reception we walked to Red Bar with our closest friends to celebrate and then walked(or stumbled) back to Hibiscus Guest House for the night. I also stayed there with my best friend and sister the night before my wedding and we stayed up drinking champagne and reminiscing about our childhood days. I can’t imagine a more perfect night before my wedding or a more sweet, romantic wedding night. I will cherish this place forever. Oh and P. S.- The peanut butter, granola, and fruit waffles are absolutely to die for. I didn’t think I’d be able to eat before my wedding, but it wasn’t much of a problem with those bad boys in front of me. Oh, and they serve Amavida Coffee. Score!

Hibiscus is charming and tranquil. We stayed in the old Florida room for one night and we wished we could have stayed weeks! The accommodations were quaint and quiet yet still centrally located. There are plenty of places on hibiscus grounds to read and relax, including he backyard of love, various porches, café, and small library. Walk to the beach in under 10 minutes. Breakfast is great — coffee was excellent! The owners were extremely friendly and hospitable. Hibiscus was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

This place was adorable. Very vintage. It is so nice that you can just use the room for a couple of days and that is something you can’t find with homes or condos, where you have to rent for a week. The bed was really comfortable and the room we stayed in «The Hibiscus» was very well equipped with a fridge and even some wine glasses. The room we stayed in was right above the café, so if you are a person that sleeps in, i wouldn’t reccomend this room, but the staff was very upfront with us(even says it on the site) that it would be a little noisy. The grounds are adorable and it is really close to everything. I will have to say, the breakfast was horrible. It took 30 minutes and tasted awful. But the coffee and chai tea latte’s were wonderful. We will definitely stay here again, we will just go down the street to «Another Broken Egg» for breakfast :)

Retro, cozy bed and breakfast setting with excellent homemade breakfast and lunch items. Fresh eggs, hearty biscuits. Several vegetarian options; I enjoyed the veggie burger on pretzel roll. A nice change from other nearby sites.

Our wedding reception was at the HIbiscus a few weeks ago and it was absolutely perfect. Stephanie and Colin are hands down two of the most wonderful people on the planet. From day one of planning they were both incredibly helpful and easy to work with — and I only visited them once in person before the big day since we live in Dallas. All of our friends and family that stayed at the Hibiscus for the wedding weekend had a wonderful time and continue to tell us how much they enjoyed their stay, all their food and the reception space. Stephanie was very helpful with supplying me vendors to call for cake, chairs, tents, music, etc and always promptly and professionally responded to my calls and emails. Each of the guest rooms are unique and we loved getting to see each room our friends/family stayed in. They are all so much fun and we love the old Florida feel. Colin, the Café chef, was wonderful to work with and went out of his way to cater to my vegetarian diet and my sister’s gluten free diet. Colin also prepared breakfast for about 13 family members the morning of the wedding. It was beautifully prepared and decorated in the Backyard of Love space. Our reception food was incredible and everyone went out of their way to let us know they enjoyed it. We also very much enjoyed Sunday Brunch — the music, the food and the atmosphere. I cannot say enough good things about the Hibiscus and their entire team — everyone is so friendly and helpful. We will be back soon to see you guys — not soon enough, but soon!

Awesome Sunday brunch — best all around on 30A with laid back atmosphere, outdoor dining & live music! You can get mimosas on Sundays with brunch for a donation to local charities. Back Yard of Love is a great way to spend a Sunday before you hit the beach!

Quite possibly the worst room I have ever stayed in. In my life. Ever. Spent the week at Seaside, for a wedding. After the wedding we stayed an extra night in the area. We had the misfortune in staying in the New Orleans themed«Big Easy» room. Oh, it had a lot in common with New Orleans: 1) it was dirty; 2) it smelled; 3) it was falling apart; and 4) I would not be surprised if someone was killed there. Although, that is not really fair to New Orleans. I bet the brick streets sleep better than the bed in the«Big Easy» room. And don’t even get me started on the bathroom. I honestly thought someone with a video camera was going to jump out and yell«Surprise!!!» Finally, it rained the morning we left. There was no covered location to load-up a car, and the gravel parking lot flooded, requiring us to wade through inches of water, in the rain, to pack-up for our escape. This room was/is so bad, we actually took pictures to show all of our friends. If you want a room in this price range, $ 190.00 to $ 240.00, check-out the Motor Court Inn, in Seaside. If you want a room that feels like someone was recently murdered and/or shooting-up heroin, then the«Big Easy» is for you! Res Ipsa Loquitur, AC PS, My wife would give it less than one star; but, the creepy clown/jester pictures adorning the room were so over the top I have to give it one star for always remaining in my mind as terrible/horrible place.
