With a few tweaks, Flour Garden could be spectacular. Unfortunately, I’ve been waiting for years and no one running the place seems to be focused on improvement. It’s just status quo. Their coffee is inconsistent. Their green tea is always oversteeped and bitter. Their iced black tea can be really good if they don’t use a coffee flavored container to store it in. That’s happened several times. They used to have a great selection of both savory and sweet pastries. Now I’ve noticed that the savory options have been overwhelmed by sweet-and they’ve added to the sweet factor by covering everything with large granules of sugar. Ugh. Their cakes are consistently good and perfect for ordering for celebrations. But for everyday, there are other options for good food, consistent quality and excellent coffee.

I think this place is great! I come here every Saturday for a latte and pastry… plus one or two weekdays in-between for lunch :) They make delicious soup/chili and it is a great deal; $ 8 and some cents for a 32oz container, plus bread and butter(that’s several meals, for me). The chocolate croissants, bear claws, cinnamon twists and chocolate chip cookies are all favorites of mine! The staff is always super friendly and the service is always quick — maybe not like the Starbucks drive-though kind of quick, but they are SO much more organized than some of the other local coffee spots that make you wait 15 minutes and then forget your drink(I won’t name names). Speaking of Starbucks… I don’t see how anyone can complain about the prices here considering that they are no higher than any big chain coffee shop or any other coffee shop in this area… by choosing Flour Garden, you are supporting local business AND getting fresh food that is actually made here(not shipped in from a corporate kitchen somewhere). Flour Garden is THE place to be!

The worst!!! Unfortunately, flour garden is one of our only options in Grass Valley, so I’ve had a couple too many experiences here… If you’re looking for a quick cup of coffee, THISISNOTWHEREYOUSHOULDGO! every time I am waiting at least three minutes just to pay. Baked goods and dry and EXTREMELYOVERPRICED. Management is rude and although some of the staff is quite friendly and pleasant, I’ve also had run ins with many who are not. I try to avoid Flour Garden at all costs…

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. It is close to my work, so convenience is nice. However, I feel ripped off every time. There food is good. Some of it is just ok, some of it is GREAT(like their gingersnap cookies). But, the prices are so ridiculous. $ 7.00 for a cold, pre-made chicken salad sandwich on just your plain ol’ bread. $ 7.25 for a breakfast burrito that you can barely find any meat in. I could go on… They do use quality ingredients, which I do appreciate but not for the outrageous prices.

Chai is good. Smoothie is delicious. Prices are outrageous and juice is nutritious… but still outrageously expensive. If they charged less I’d go there more and then they’d get more of my money in the long run. The prices are so bad that my guilty spending conscious makes me feel sad after going here.

Well let’s start with Saturday morning about 7:10 I go in for a coffee and a juice. The girl asked me what I wanted and I had to explain to her what a Caffè macchiato is(Not a Charbucks macchiato, Yes kids there is a difference) and have a discussion with her why I do not what a 16 oz cup to hold 4oz of espresso and a scoop of foam. She pulled the shots in the tin cup, than let my shots sit while she helped 2 other customers(about 7 min) then poured my shots in a 12oz cup and dumped flat over heated milk(like 180 hot) in with no foam. I do not think that barista training is the paying customer’s responsibility. Now on the juice as I ordered what I wanted she explained that I cannot have fruit mixed in with my veg it is a separate menu, took my money and helped a few more customers now its 7:25. So off to work a 14 hr day with no coffee and no juice and she kept my $ 10.00. Just a thought don’t put your untrainable staff on in the morning when people need to get coffee and go to work. Not everyone has weekends off. Next time I’m in town I will stop by and get my $ 10.00 refund.

Great bakery with delicious coffee and lots of pastries/bagels/etc. They even do some stuff Gluten-Free! Super friendly staff, too. Can’t imagine how anyone could give this place fewer than 5 stars…

A nice little bakery and coffee shop right next to Safeway. There are many selections for milk here, and the server who helped me didn’t assume I wanted cow milk, he asked. There was quite the selection of baked goods, as one might expect. I sampled a bagel and a chai latte. The chai was smooth, and the bagel fresh. Quite nice! The wifi is great here, fast and strong. Sadly, I was informed that the wall power outlets had all just been removed, so there was no place to get a charge. That was the reason I went, expecting a coffee place to have power available. Perhaps this is more of a bakery than coffee house.
