This fine old restaurant has been closed for several months and it’s not clear if they’re re-opening. Their sign says VACATION? — it’s not clear if they actually put it up or not. The ice house next door is also shut down, claims remodeling but there’s a new Buck’s gas and ice store across the street that would have taken most of their business. I’ll report in the Spring if it’s re-opened.

The service was great the fried catfish with fries, homemade biscuits, and cole slaw were very good. We enjoyed the catfish with corn batter fried to perfection. The hush puppies were tasty and moist inside. We will definitely go back

Times sure have changed since the last time I came here, and so has the quality of food & service! I’m not sure where to begin considering this place used to be a Granite Shoals staple of mine. This place has really fallen away from my good graces. Fried catfish dinner: was a little over cooked(dry not moist) and the crust was darker golden brown than normal. Sirloin steak was ordered medium rare but came out very much well done… it was tasty though. Service…MEH! All I can say is there must have been something pretty significant going on in the kitchen because we only saw our waitress three times. Yes our ice tea cups went empty till our food came out. When paying for the meal we mentioned the over cooked steak and dry catfish and lack of attention by our waitress… The cashier responded with«oh I’m so sorry, we are short staffed right now, I hope you come back soon!» There were only three other tables w/couples beside our table and two waitresses.

We had seen this restaurant our drives and were expecting more from a restaurant name Farmhouse. My husband and I are vegetarian. We usually get Mexican cheese enchiladas or something like that. We asked if they could sub the meat in the taco for avocado or guacamole yes they could do that for 4 dollars more. Really? For a tablespoon of guac? So changed our order to the three cheese enchiladas. Rolls came with some generic margarine spread when we asked for some real butter they had no e. Then the enchiladas came out smothered in, yup meat sauce. Sent that back and finally got just queso on them. Order dessert of some. Brown is thing. Brownie was hard. and had a little tiny scoop of Ice cream and a spray of topping. For a restaurant to be named Farmhouse I have to say they should be fresh and homemade. No REALBUTTER? Server was still training and was very sweet.

This place is overly expensive and very locally owned. An all-you-can eat dinner is nearly $ 13 and you have to summons your all-you-can eat meal each and every time you want more food. Then they will bring you more catfish or Mexican food or whatever. Only in America do you have to act and feel like a Glut for the«all you can eat» special. The food is not exactly that great. I got a hamburger for carry out and well, I wish I had gone to Dairy Queen. Don’t let them talk you into getting a Brownie a la made with chocolate, caramel and whipped cream and nuts dessert for $ 3.99. It was not good. I threw it out. For the price it was pretty small and they must of put over 10,000 nuts on it. The French fries were not all bad, just average. They didn’t even throw in any ketchup packets in the to go bag. There are several autograph pictures of Georgette Jones on the wall that I’m sure every teenager today can tell you who that is. During my visit there was a few people there and a couple of local cops eating there who seemed happy as grasshoppers. I’m not a local there, just a visitor and my two past experiences there can make one appreciate good restaurants and good food in other parts of the state /world.

Our family of 18 went here because it was close by our rental house. I ordered the Mexican Plate, which was 2 cheese enchiladas, 1 tamale, rice and beans, and a helping of guacamole. Only the enchiladas were passable as decent, but it’s hard to mess up cheese enchiladas. The tamale was dry, the refried beans were very gritty and had a funny taste to them, and the rice was in a very thick sauce that I can’t describe the taste of(which was not good). The only bright side to our experience was our very outgoing waitress and the approaching-creepy display of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and John Wayne décor. One our guests ordered catfish and didn’t receive it until we were all almost done with our meals. If you are in the mood for tex mex food, drive the extra miles to somewhere else.

The catfish and chicken fried steak are quite good. The staff will steer your toward these two menu options if you ask for a recommendation — and I have learned to follow their advice. Most of the sides are good. I enjoy the cole slaw. The rolls are excellent. Hushpuppies are dry and not worth the calories! The mexican food is not very good at all. They serve beer and wine.

While staying in Marble Falls for a wedding, we were given one of those visitor guides by the hotel we were staying at. On the back of the guide were a bunch of restaurants in the area, and Farm House Restaurant was one of them. We decided to give it a shot for lunch since we were on a country diner kick. We pulled up to the red«farm house» building, noting that we were one of only a few cars in the parking lot, and went inside. The interior of this place is typical of small town diners. Plastic tables and chairs, and a hodgepodge of decorations lining the walls. We were seated in a room with a myriad Marilyn Monroe posters gazing lustily over us. As soon as we were seated I went to the restroom and when I came back, our waitress was already at our table. I told her I needed a little more time to look over the menu, and she seemed put out by that. When she came back to take our order a short time later, she asked somewhat tersely, «Have y’all figured it out yet?» I ordered the regular catfish plate and the BF got the country fried steak. The food here. .. let me be frank. If you want your food to be cooked, then this is the place for you. If you want ANYTHINGELSE done to your food, like be seasoned in any way, shape, or form, look elsewhere. My catfish was breaded and fried. That’s it. It was very plain. The tartar sauce it came with? It was Miracle Whip with sweet relish mixed in. My fries? Potato wedges, fried, no salt, no seasoning. My coleslaw? Cabbage with Miracle Whip and naught else. Hush puppies? Balls of dough, no seasoning, fried. The BF’s steak was a little better because they’d actually put small amounts of pepper in the cream gravy, but he had to add more himself to make it taste right. The mashed potatoes his steak came with were almost certainly from a box. His salad was decent, but it’s hard to screw up salad with Ranch dressing. All in all, the food was warm but incredibly bland. They didn’t even give me lemon wedges with my catfish and by the time I noticed, our waitress had disappeared. By the time she came back it was a moot point and I didn’t bother asking. I just ended up using the lime from my water. The service we received left something to be desired. While we were eating we overheard the ladies at the counter, our server included, talking about how they didn’t want to work that day. Our server was particularly adamant that she wasn’t even supposed to be working day shifts anymore and that she shouldn’t be there. Her attitude was reflected in the service we received. Another lady, eating by herself, was seated in our section halfway through our meal, and our server took her order and disappeared for over fifteen minutes. She finally came back with the poor woman’s food and apologized, saying she’d been distracted by something in the back. I’m pretty sure she’d been distracted by her bad attitude. When we went up to the counter to pay, another lady rang us out, showing our server how to do it, implying that she’s new to the job and still in training. A piece of advice for her: she’d better stop whining and start smiling if she wants to keep her job. Based on the bland food and mediocre-at-best service, I cannot recommend this place. Even ordering water we paid over $ 20 for that meal and it was worth much, much less.
