This is a very unassuming place that you might just drive by without giving it a thought, but you’d be mistaken. They have the best, most delicious, flavorful pulled pork of any BBQ joint around! Seriously we come here only for the pulled pork, which is large enough to be two sandwiches for this mom. The beans are excellent, too. You will not get faster service anywhere. Order at one end, before you can even get your change in your pocket, your food is ready on the other end. Everyone is very friendly. LOVETHISPLACE! Only thing missing is the burnt ends. Seriously you all make such amazing BBQ why must burnt end lovers be left out!!! Please make burnt ends; I know they will be amazing!

We went in search of an «of the beaten path» BBQ joint for our quick trip to Kansas City… And we found a gem! Luck for us we were there on a Saturday night before 8pm and we had cash in hand!(Friday-Sunday only and cash or check only) We made our own«sampler platter«with the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. All were delicious, and the Cole slaw and potato salad were perfect compliments. There was no wait time and the help/owners were soooo nice and helpful! It was a beautiful drive to a quiet part of Missouri we might have never seen or tasted! Well worth the drive!

This is hands down my absolute favorite place for BBQ. Get the Ribs; You won’t regret it. Meaty, tender, hardly any fat, not greasy… amazing! I love this place over every other BBQ place in all of the entire kc metro area. Don’t forget to take cash cause they don’t accept debit or CC. Make the trip because it is totally worth the drive.

Our favorite place for ribs. They are seriously amazing, best ribs I’ve ever had. Meaty, smoky and fatty just like ribs should be. They have 3 sauces that are tasty. Their beans are yummy and their potato salad is pretty good as well as the coleslaw. The pulled pork is tasty, but again, the ribs are the thing to get. They have a selection of pies that are delicious. It’s a family run place that only takes cash or check. It’s a cute little local place that’s only open on the weekends.

Dropped by Porky’s yesterday. I had posted the previous review only a day or two before that so I thought I’d add this update. I ALWAYS get the beef brisket sandwich even though my two youngest kids swear the pulled pork is better. Yesterday my daughter was buying a sandwich for her boyfriend to try as he’s never been to Porky’s before. So we got 1 pork and 1 beef brisket for me to split with him. I finally tried more than a bite of the pulled pork and wow I can see why everyone loves it. I saved the half of a brisket to eat last and I was back to the«I don’t know. This beef is AWFULLYDANGGOOD…» In the future I’ll probably have to buy myself one of each and eat them over a couple days. My daughter and I were careful to check out the size of the sandwiches. They changed from a large round bun to a football shaped bun. There is definitely less meat than we first started going. I have no doubt. BUT it is still a large sandwich with a lot of meat. Truth is I always wondered how they could stay in business putting what could be a couple HUGE handfuls of meat on a sandwich for what they were charging but I wasn’t about to complain. I know I’m not the only one to say this but this place is so good you almost don’t want anyone else to find out.

This out of the way bbq joint is a real treat. Is only open friday sat and sunday and they sell out of meat almost every weekend. Quietly a contender for best BBQ in KC. Get the ribs. Cash and check only though.

Burnt Ends: Only available on Sunday. Brisket sandwich: Very good smoke flavour and served in a sliced round bun. The meat was juicy, had a good amount of fat which gave it a whopping flavour and was very tender. Definitely one and three-fifths thumbs up. I asked for sauce on the side so I could really taste the goodness and that was the right thing to do. The sandwich for $ 10, was not very large. It was the right portion for a sandwich but this is murrriicaa its not the right portion until my I need to pop in a Lipitor with every meal. The sauces are not made in house but they are made by a small independent sauce guy east of KC. Cajun sausage link = $ 5 tasty cajun flavour sausage in a bun. Great flavour but not for $ 5. I would have it for $ 3.50ish. For $ 5 it better be a whopping big link.‘ Forgot to take photos :(

the best pulled pork sandwich i have had, juicy to say the least, however, i have at times stopped in just to get some of their baked beans, have never eaten any that were better, haven’t eaten anything from there that i didn’t like. if you like BBQ it is a must, don’t let its meek exterior keep you from trying it! wanted to give 5 bright stars for the food alone, but ratings should be based off of more than just the food. the place is older, but is also neat and clean. to recap: Food 5 stars atmosphere 3 stars hospitality 5 stars

Porky’s Blazin’ Bar-B-Q is kind of a joint and kind of out in the middle of no where. But it’s worth your time to make the trip so long as your barbecue craving happens on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Those three days are the only ones when Porky’s is open for business. They make all their food fresh every day and serve«until the meat is gone!» Sunday’s Special was Burnt Ends and I just had to give them a try. There is a heaping portion that easily overflows the bun and rolls out all over the plate. Porky’s burnt ends are large to extra large bite sized chunks of moist, tender flavorful beef.(no dry and chewy bits at all!) Hubby ordered the Sliced Beef Brisket Sandwich, also served on a large bun. We cut each sandwich in half, so got to try both on one visit. We also ordered Bar-B-Q Beans that are sweetly tasty and filled with chunks of meat. Yum! Very good and a large order was too much for two people to finish when combined with the sandwiches. Be sure and bring cash because they don’t take credit cards but the sign says they will take a check. It may be a bit of a drive but I am looking forward to going back soon because they do Pork Baby Back Ribs, Cajun Link Sausage, Turkey, Ham and Pulled Pork in additions to the Beef. And if it lives up to the Brisket and Burnt Ends we had today, I have probably found my new favorite BBQ place!

Good news: They prepare all the meat fresh every Fri, Sat & Sun. Bad news: When the run out, they run out. Got to try a lil’ bit of everything, except for the ribs(see«Bad News»). Pulled pork was good, brisket had good flavor and had just the right amount of fat. The smoked sausage ended up pretty average, but I wasn’t expecting too much. And I’m typically not a Turkey man when hitting up BBQ joints, but this Turkey was surprisingly good –great flavor, not dried out and perfectly sliced. Beans weren’t overcooked and had plentiful meat chunks. Overall everything tended to be sweeter than what I’m accustomed to from an OK Joes or Arthur Bryants. Everything had great smoke flavor and tasted fresh. NOTE: Cash Only.

The beef and ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had in the city. Staff could have been a bit more cheerful, but when your up all nite tending a smoker I’m sure it’s tough to be sugar and roses the next day.

I’m not really sure what the other reviewer is talking about. This joint is family run, but the family is very nice. We stop in whenever we visit our family in Grain Valley. The ribs carry heavy smoke and fall right off the bone. The pulled pork was delicious with a little bit of sweet, and the cajun sausage is perfect. I cut mine length-wise and put it on half my pulled pork sandwich. Delicious! The sauce isn’t the best I’ve had, but the meat is juicy and doesn’t really need it. The portions are big, and the prices are reasonable. I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t stop in to see if you like it.

I was always afraid that if I drove east on Colbern past State Route 7, I’d end up in a lake or fall off the edge of the Earth, which would absolutely suck because the cellphone reception there is terrible. As it turns out, there is no lake or end of the world at the end of Colbern; there’s just a small BBQ joint called Porky’s. Porky’s is one of those family-owned restaurants where the father, mother, and son come in every day and eventually grow bitter and angry from the repeated process of slicing meat for members of the general public. While they cook their beef perfectly, it ends up tasting quite bland. Unfortunately, their BBQ sauces don’t add enough interesting flavor to compensate. They offer above-average baked beans(although not as good as Fiorella’s /Jack Stack), with giant clumps of beef brisket wads floating around like roving asteroids. There are plenty of dessert options, none of which I ordered because they all seemed to be variations of «Costco cheesecake with smashed up candy crud on the top of it.» They do not cook /offer french fries, which is quite disconcerting. I believe this is mostly due to their kitchen being the size of a coat closet(albeit a very clean coat closet). When I ate there, the father and son food preparation team seemed upset they had to spend another Friday cramped together with the cashier, the wife(she was wife of the husband, not the son. That would just be gross). The positive side of working in the world’s tiniest kitchen was that our order was filled within two seconds, possibly less. In summary, this is a good place to eat if you’re in the neighborhood, the neighborhood of «way out in the middle of nowhere.» I guess I can see justifying leaving State Route 7 to eat there, but that’s as far as its radius should reach. Nothing very interesting here, just standard BBQ. Oh wait, they have a bunch of giant ceramic humanoid pigs. I guess that’s interesting, in the sense that the pigs are promoting a BBQ joint. That’s like going to an abortion clinic and being greeted by a bunch of large, cartoon fetuses screaming«Tee hee, abort me!»
