We ate dinner here on our move cross country and it was the best food we had between Virginia beach, Virginia and blue springs mo!

Burnt ends are a must, always have them with the beans. My day is complete after that.

Zarda has some of the best Burnt Ends around! I highly recommend them. The service is fast and friendly as well.

I will start with the ONLY positive. The staff was friendly. The burnt end sandwich was soaked in sauce, I assumed that was to tenderize the tough meat. The french fries were under cooked and almost cold, the cheesy corn was thick and had an over powering flavor of smoke. All of our food, from the pickles to the french fries tasted like smoke. It should have been a wake up call when 2 of the employees said they would much rather have Jack Stack bbq. Hands down the worst bbq I have eaten. I would be embarrassed to call this Kansas City bbq.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid & they do have amazing barbecue, however it’s very expensive and there are way better barbecue restaurants around KC in my opinion. *cough* Gates *cough* I always get the barbecue ham sandwich, and the meat is always so tender and delicious. I’ve never had a bad experience here, and they are always very friendly when you go inside. They have a full salad bar. Expect to pay over $ 10 for a sandwich with fries and a drink. It’s definitely worth checking out, but if you’re visiting from out of town, this definitely wouldn’t be the first place I recommend.

Their burnt ends are Meatacular! I love that they are a combination of beef and pork, it makes for a texture explosion in my mouth! Also their mac and cheese will put your mom’s to shame. Don’t tell her of course. They have the best sauce ever. I want to fill a bathtub up with it and bathe in it. That would be good for my skin, right?

As usual we are eating our way across America. We’re in KC you have to have bbq, many places we Unilocaled were closed because it’s Sunday, but we came across Zardas. I ordered brisket, cheesy corn, bbq beans, and iced teas. Hubby ordered brisket and pork plate with ff, vinegar slaw, and diet coke, we split a sampler of burnt ends. $ 40 later when our food arrived we couldn’t determine if we actually got what we ordered, but we like both pork and beef so DIGIN. First it had a very over powered flavor of lighter fluid, hubs was cold, meat had a watered down flavor as well, it was cut so thin it looked like they used a laser to cut it. Slaw was good, beans good, corn… it was corn with cheese. Sorry Zarda

Totally embarrassed that they called this Kansas City barbecue!!! Please do not rate Kansas City barbecue on your experience here it’s almost turkey sandwich tasted like Cold cuts and the sauce reminded me of a can of tomato sauce with sugar added … Nothing even similar to any Kansas City famous barbecue maybe in the day it’s been many many moons ago!

A five star cumulative combination. Food is good and menu is big enough to get something you will like. Service is always top notch. It’s a blue springs legend, blue springs wouldn’t be the same without it. Don’t throw in the towel if you don’t like just one thing, all new is different and there is something for everyone here

I’m hesitant to give Zarda 5 stars only for the fact that I know so many people that would disagree with me but then they aren’t writing this review are they? I’ll admit right outta the chute you could find brisket better somewhere else. I could name names and have in other reviews. You can find larger portions somewhere else. Trouble is even though those joints have one, maybe even two things, better than Zarda they are missing things Zarda has. Zarda is the whole bbq enchilada to me. So why the 5 stars? I’ve been going to Zarda since they were on the other side of 7 hiway back in the 80’s and they have been consistently good ever since. When I became a single dad with 4 kids at home we went to Zarda sometimes twice a week for a few years and we still go as often as possible even though they all but one have their own homes now. In all that time I must’ve eaten there a nearly a couple hundred times and can count on two hands the number of times I’ve said«that meat was too tough» or «man, that just wasn’t good today.» It happens. But it doesn’t happen often at the Blue Springs Zarda. The one thing my kids and I have mentioned more than anything else is how consistently good it is. We like our bbq beef to taste smoky not boiled. Zarda beef sandwich has a good smoky flavor we love. The beans are killer good. They don’t taste like dressed up Pork ‘n Beans. The fries’ only equal would be Gates but that’s a toss up to me. I can’t pick a favorite between the two. I’d go to either place just to eat fries dipped in their bbq sauce. The burnt ends — sometimes they’re great, sometimes not so great. There have been times where the kids and I would fight over the burnt ends and more recently haven’t hated them but there were some left when we finished and that is unusual. I understand Zarda isn’t for everyone but for me and my family it is the overall experience of Zarda that make sit deserve 5 stars in my book. For us they have it all. Great people, sandwiches, ribs, beans, fries & sauce, consistency AND I can afford to feed my whole family there. Before I forget I might mention while I don’t drink beer often I do occasionally get a cold one to go with the bbq at Zarda. It’s funny out of my 4 kids 3 of them will stray from Zarda with me once in awhile to get bbq in grain valley but my oldest daughter? If it’s not Zarda she’s not wasting her time. She’s not willing to put up with everything the other place doesn’t have when she knows she can get it all at Zarda. I think maybe I shouldn’t have raised her in that place.

My first time with KC bar-b-que. Zarda’s claims they’ve been serving the best in KC for 40 years. Hmmmmmm, I wonder who’s making that claim besides them? I ordered the beef platter with cole slaw and corn on the cob and a large drink. First the Bar-b-que. I’ve been to enough BBQ places before and I was expected cut(chunked) brisquet or pulled. Hopefully you’ll get some pieces with bark on it. What I got was thinly sliced beef piled on 2 pieces of bread. They took it upon themselves to go ahead and dump some sauce on it(they only have one kind BTW). The meat was completely forgettable as was the sauce. If I had wanted a beef sandwich I’d have ordered one. 2nd, the slaw. Some sort of vinegar based with dill seed. I’ve certainly never tasted anything like it before… I don’t want to taste anything like it again either. 3rd. Corn on the cob. About the only way to screw CotC up is to let it oversoak in hot water allowing it to turn mushy… Yep. They did it. 4th. Hey, you got a pickle spear which was the highlite of the meal. Included was a package of margarine. Not sure what I was supposed to do with that. The bread had saturated with meat juice and BBQ sauce. Attempting to spead margarine on it would’ve been a futile cause. The bill with the soda came to just shy of $ 15.50. I’m sure KC has much better. As it was I would avoid this place. A barely mediocre attempt at Bar B Que.

Two stars is being nice. As a person born and raised on KC bbq, and having the best that our city has to offer then having Zarda bbq is tough. Speaking of tough, the burnt ends and ribs were dry, tough and stringy. The sausage was cut so thin you could almost see through it. The beef was average and the turkey was ok. The sauce is an ok imitation of others from around town. Not a fan, only come here if you’re not paying.

The beef was soaking wet. Made my bun soaking wet and disgusting. As if hit had been pre cut and sitting in a bin?(see pics) Ordered a extra large beef sand which with side and drink. Total was 11 dollars. Only good part of a the experience was it has a drive thru. Maybe I am just too used to Joes kc and Q39.

Not remotely impressed. I ordered the full slab of ribs along with two sides(bbq baked beans and cole slaw. The bbq beans appeared to have been sitting in a pot for a ling time without being stirred. The cole slaw is plain, not creamy. The ribs were very fatty… not enough rib meat. The quantity is great, but the quality is poor. Perhaps their sandwiches are better.

Ok let me first start off with saying that I have been coming to Zarda since I was a kid and to be honest it hasn’t changed much. With that said it’s a good thing it hasn’t changed much. I always order the rib plate. It comes in a value meal. I must say for 10 bucks they give you a pretty good slab. whole family can enjoy barbecue at a very reasonable price. Its not Arthur Bryant’s but a decent replacement.

The manager responded to my dissatisfaction and I really appreciate a manager that cares about his business and that customers are well taken care of in the future!
