This bakery is always delicious, fresh, and comforting. I’ve been coming here for years and in all that time the bread and pastries have remained amazing. Their service is wonderful and the baguettes, loaves, and croissants are all phenomenal. Worth coming to and worth coming back.

I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area. My mom and I were passing through town and it was advertised that they had semla(a Swedish pastry) so we wanted to stop by to have some. Sadly they were out of marzipan so they didn’t have any, hence one star off since we went there just due to the semlas! Street parking and a small parking lot; indoor and outdoor seating. They have tons of different pastries, we opted for cinnamon rolls which were fantastic and made with cardamom like in Sweden, and we also got a princess cake which was yummy. I got a caprese panini for lunch which was really good, and my mom got one with Brie which she liked as well. No sides which would’ve been nice, and it was a bit of a wait for the paninis but that’s okay. They have a large selection of bread to bring home and the limpa is so good — just like it is in Sweden! The employees were all so friendly and they have a decent drink selection as well. Come here for some lunch and a pastry!

This bakery is a real treat in more ways than one. The staff are friendly, the bread and sweet rolls excellent, the sandwiches and paninins yummy, and the coffee couldn’t be better. It’s my favorite place to go to enjoy a Saturday morning.

Berolina is, hands down, the best bakery in town. It’s the only bakery I go to for bread, and I always like to pick up their cakes for special occasions. They have a wide variety of breads, cookies, and pastries. Their breakfast waffles are delectable, and if you’re going to get a cake, you have to get the Swedish Princess Cake– their take on this popular Scandinavian dessert is far superior than anything I tried in Sweden.

Berolina gets really full, no matter at what time there is a line out the door of this tiny bakery. Grab a number, the goods are worth the wait. I got a croissant and an eclaire and enjoyed both. Fresh and tasty, prices are fair as well. They have a huge selection of desserts, from cakes to pastries as well as bread which I will have to come back for next time. Easy metered parking all along the street, worth a stop while in the area!

Yesterday was the first time i went to the bakery. I always heard great things so i thought id give it a try but I picked the wrong day to go because of how busy it was. A girl named Arisine helped me and was very kind and helpful. Overall the food and service was great

This is a review only on customer service. Their food and desserts are good but their service is awful. I am sad to leave this review because I have been coming here for years. I needed a cake for my daughters birthday and she loves their princess cake. I called in and was told sure no problem email a picture. I sent several emails to no avail. I called several times only to get the run around. After waisting a week trying to place an order I realized I needed to move on before I ended up without a cake. So if you just want their premade food your fine just don’t plan on asking for anything special!

Everything that they have is delicious and fresh. But a huge reason they get five stars? Customer service. I brought in a small class of young special education students one day, and they could not have been kinder or more friendly. Great food + pleasant atmosphere + warm friendly customer service = five stars every time.

I love this place! It’s literally a 3 minute walk from where I work. I normally call my order in as I’m walking there and they have it ready by the time I get there. Their sandwiches and paninis are my favorite things to order. Very fresh tasting and they have a lot of different choices of fresh baked bread to choose from. My favorite bread is the rosemary. I just ordered a smoked turkey sandwich on rosemary today and it was delicious. They have a lot of pastries, cookies, and other sweets to choose from as well. Definitely one of my favorite spots to eat in the area.

This place is awesome! I’ve been coming to this bakery for 20+ years and it never disappoints. Over the years, they’ve added patio seating and now offer a variety of breakfast and lunch options for dine-in. It gets packed on the weekends, but service is quick and staff are very friendly. The eclairs here are amazing! Even after moving out of the area, I always stop by this place when I’m in town just for the eclairs. Check them out!

Princess cake, poppy seed Danishes, sundried tomato bread, olive bread, cranberry almond tart… these are a few of my favorite things. I’ve been coming here since I was a wee tot and 30+ years later still here whenever I get the chance. It’s that good!

So torn about Berolina. The bread is amazing… I go regularly to have fresh bread in the house for toast and sandwiches. Favorites are the German Seed Bread and the Irish Soda Bread around Easter. Soup/sandwich lunch menu is good, but the menu never changes. Wish they would change the selection every once in a while. Love the basil and brie melt! The pastries are amazing and definitely the focus of the business. Wish they would expand on the cookies and make cookies which are less decorative and more substantive… chocolate chips, nuts, butterscotch, etc… I would purchase them every week. The biggest problem for me is the coffee. The coffee tastes like coffee I left in my freezer for 3 months with the top off. Please upgrade the coffee… please!

Yummm… their display of baked goods is so scrumptious, even just looking at it makes you swoon in pleasure ;) I ordered a slice of princess cake, budapest log and a cup of coffee. oh man… its so delicious, the princess cake has the right amount of sweetness, the marzipan is so delish. also, the combination of orange and chocolate in budapest log is so good. the coffee is too strong, not my taste. I always want mine to have a mild bitter taste.

So, I’m writing this particular review on behalf of my dad, a native Eastern European(from Slovakia, to be specific). He is a pastry fiend. Like wherever he travels he sniffs out the best pastry shop in the area and ends up finding out the life history of the inevitably foreign baker. So while I had never been here after years of living nearby, he found it one visit and has since made it his near-daily stop when he comes to town. He swears their cheese rolls in particular are«just like my mother used to make back home» and devours them. I don’t know the exact term for these, they aren’t Danishes, but they are a large, oval shaped sweet bread with fluffy, sweetened cheese in the middle. We then sent a visiting German friend here and he ran back raving about their very authentic savory rolls, «just like I had for breakfast with nutella every day back home.» I haven’t had any of their sandwiches or waffles, but based on their pastries and our happy European guests, I have to give them 5 stars.

This review is strictly for the brussels waffles which is the only thing I had here. The first time I came here they said they had no waffle batter. Thankfully they did the second time I came, even though I came around 1pm and it was busier than when I came the first time. It was very busy on a Saturday, and you have to get a number which is located near the door and wait for your number to be called. You order then seat yourself. The waffle was around $ 5 which is a good price and it was a lot bigger than I thought. It comes plain with powdered sugar. No syrup. Toppings are 75 cents. The waffle didnt taste that good… it barely had any taste. It was very airy and light. It needed whipped cream or something to go with it, so order toppings! I wouldnt come back here again for the waffle. After eating it, it felt like I had just eaten nothing. Not filling at all and flavorless. Disappointed.

FOOD: Amazing brussels pancakes and really good crème brûlée(definitely one of the best in the area). Their lean panini is also really good for lunch! But other than that, i think it’s just another regular pastry shop. Basically, for the area, good pastries. In a larger perspective, had better pastries in LA. PARKING: private lot in the front. never had trouble finding parking

Okay, after reading the reviews, I have to say the fruit tarts are the way to go. The crust is perfect and flaky, strawberry and other fruit were sweet, but not overly glazed, and the size was better than a mere morsel; it was the size of a hockey puck! I’ve read about the princess cake, so I’ll have to try that next. It seems breakfast is also served at the bakery, so it might be good to come here early and try a little food with the pastries, like the Europeans.

(NOTE: I translated this to Swedish for the Unilocal 100 Challenge: Stockholm. For the English version of this review please scroll down to the original.)

Berolina is a boulangerie/patisserie which places it outside French norms since a bread bakery is considered a different category than a bakery that does pastry. I decided to try the patisserie by buying a croissant & an elaborate slice of cake that probably catches most people’s eyes. 1) The almond croissant looked gravid with drizzled white sugar icing fortified with almond extract for added aromatics & sliced roasted almonds. The crust of the croissant was rather hard & rustic in mouthfeel. The millefeuille was probably interlarded with butter to achieve that multi-layer effect, but I couldn’t sense the fragrance of fresh, sweet, dairy perfumed creamy sweet butter. The interior of the croissant was soft and had a bit of marzipan for added almond flavour. The croissant is quite generous in terms of portion so that one would be quite filling at least for a petit dejeuner/Fruehstueck. Overall, the croissant at Berolina’s is quite good. 2) There is a surrealistic cake that is shaped like a rounded, verdant, mammary-like protrusion with a pink bud dead center on top which looks as though it can’t wait to have a mouth on it. The color combination would be appreciated by the likes of Liberace, and put down by the ever sarcastic & witty Paul Lynde of Hollywood Square fame. I can imagine Paul’s reply to be, «I bet if I got too close, it would poke me & give me a black eye.»(The above reference is only for pre-Millennials.) BTW, the name of this hooter-like cake is the«Princess». Layer by layer Analysis starting from top – down: 1) A 1⁄8th inch layer of green tinted Marzipan which is basically an almond paste enriched with more almond extract. The flavour & fragrance is fine, but the texture of the marzipan is very leathery, grainy, stretchy which adds a disturbing texture to the cake since most of it is rather soft or fluffy. 2) A thin layer of sponge cake that has soaked up some of the almond flavour of the marzipan which made it more tasty. 3) Nice, thick, rich Crème Chantilly that has great dairy, sweet, fresh, creamy flavour that may have a hint of vanilla. 4) Another sponge cake layer that seems to be infused with a little bit of custard or Crème Patisserie. 5) A Confiture of raspberry that seems rough with pieces of seeds still in it. This raspberry jam doesn’t seem to have a lighter texture(may be too much thickener?) as well as delicate flavour so it tends to stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other more subtle flavours. 6) Bottom sponge cake is rather dense yet dry. It seems to need to be like that of layer #4 to continue the«precious» feel. If I were the Patissier, I would eliminate the green marzipan on the outside & set it as an ultra thin layer replacing the thickened raspberry jam. The outer layer could then have a more delicate, moist flan«frosting» with a shiny en gelee de abricot to give a sheen to the flan frosting. As the Princess stands today, it seems to be imitative of the Viennese pastry style, but baked in Bratislava instead. Looking at the olive bread & other bread items, maybe the forte of Berolina is in its Boulangerie.
