Barragan’s

I was hoping to like this place as there isn’t much authentic Mexican food around the Glendale area. However, as soon as I walked in it was dark, dingy & has a dirty smelly carpet. I thought ok well if the food is good that’s ok. I eat tacos from a truck so… I could do with dark and dingy however… the food wasn’t good either. Damn it… epic fail!
If you’re looking for Mexican food head to Tortas Mexico which is located in Montrose/​La Canada. You’ll get better tasting food for HALF the price. My entire family agreed that Tortas Mexico food is better.
The customer service here was about the only thing that was good. I have to say that the entire staff was attentive and friendly.

They’ve been around forever! We like to go back to the Cantina, (bar), section. They’ve got a couple of tables there. They are wonderfully friendly and the service is prompt. Their bartender Freddie
is lovely, but be careful, his margaritas will kick your hiney! Fresh chips, a novelty these days, a killer good habanero salsa, and lovely fresh guac. I had a great chile relleno made with a fresh poblamo! Hard to find these days.

Food is average, service is average. Price is average, never disappointing but never anything exciting. Bar is very small and tender is kind of a jerk but it’s all good.

Worth it for $ 1 taco night on Mondays! Great service… nice waiters. The tacos are soooo good. The place is a bit run down, but it’s comfy. The menu items are pretty expensive considering what they are serving. Expect $ 15 for a basic entrée that may or may not come with rice and beans. I’ve had a few other menu items and the quality is decent. But, honestly, the draw here is the $ 1 taco Monday nights — beef, chicken and potatoe… guac is a little extra.

I’m giving it 2 stars because the margaritas were decent. I split an order of nachos with my friend and i’m wondering some many buckets of lard they used?.. Yes, for nachos??? they were swimming in grease, and I also ordered what was probably the worst chile relleno I’ve had my whole life. I was mostly a overly deep fried egg, with a tiny chile in the middle and the sauce was terrible too. I will never eat any of their food again. maybe just maybe Ill return for their margaritas???

Monday’s $ 1.25 for fried tacos!!! Chicken, beef and potato. What a deal. Of course you get chips and salsa when dining. The place is old looking, furniture is also old and some parts need to be fixed. The table booth we sat in was coming off. (Picture posted) I saw another booth the seat was coming off. And it’s tight for some people. They have a complementary parking. But also street parking available at certain times.
Ok now about the food. The hubby enjoyed his menudo. Yes menudo on a Monday. Comes with all the fixings. The baby girl orders beans and rice. Those beans were so good. Especially with cheese. The fried taco oh my it was so delish. I love the chicken one. I even had to order more. Two was not enough. The beef is just ground beef not bad has flavor but the chicken is shredded and GOOD!
This place will be my go to spot for some good fried chicken taco. And I love the price. BTW it gets busy after 6ish Monday. Now that tells you it’s good.

I have been here twice now with one of my dealers, his shop is close by so he is a regular here so our service was very good, we may have been jaded with good service as they know the owners. not a bad thing…
I ordered a Tostada Grande
a Large flour tortilla layered with choice of: chunks of tender chicken or juicy beef, beans topped with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and grated cheese. Served with slices of tomato and olives. First time I tried a tostada, I’m usually a enchilada guy it was good.

Burrito Grande
«Extra Large Burrito» filled with chopped steak, rice, beans, salsa fresca, topped with sour cream and guacamole. it was huge!
and lastly a plate of fish tacos
a pair of fish tacos, served with guacamole, salsa fresca and sour cream. meh
over all it was a nice place.

Zero stars is the best way to describe this place! I ordered the chicken tostada salad omg I wish I didn’t the chicken smelled like sweating feet! The majority waiters are men they are colder than birds on a stick! Stay away from here! No customer service, no food to eat. Run far away!

Why is there no option for zero stars? This place has absolutely THE worst service ever. They made us feel like we are intruding in their space and was extremely reluctant to help.
It also isn’t a good sign when you are intimidated to ask for service. It’s crazy because we came with a large party gathering for business, and presentation.
They asked «soup or salad?» I replied «what kind of salad?» The response I got was borderline sarcasm: «vegetables and dressing.» With a shoulder shrug. Thanks guy.
Oh the food. I’ve had microwave Mexican rice and beans that would’ve earned more stars than this place. Save your money! Run.

Came here last night for the dollar tacos, amazing tacos, great price and as always the service was amazing!

Pros: Great food and the have the best Menudo ever! I order from here at least 3 – 4 times a week (I know excessive, but damn the food is good) You have to also try the Chile Relleno
Cons: None that I could think of other than ordering from Eat24 you may or may not get special instructions requested like extra limes… its a hit or miss

The chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the shrimp tacos are so delicious! The only thing that’s missing is Mexican music…
Besides the décor being very old school and the carpeted floors the food is amazing!
Food portions are large and totally worth the price.
It’s definitely in my top five :)

It definitely lacks the charm of the Echo Park location which is incredibly missed, but it will do.
Food is solid.
Service is nice and very attentive.
Free valet parking.
Definitely choose the soup over the salad option.
Taco night is legit

Such an unfortunate experience for my in laws last night who had a craving for Mexican food and was terribly disappointed after calling in their order.
Food: Chile relleno, enchilada and taco place, includes rice & beans $ 17
2 additional hard shell tacos $ 8 plus tax
Not at all worth the cost, time and energy it took out of my evening to return the food to the location and almost nearly plea a case as to why i felt my in laws deserved a full refund.
Complaint: I believe in customer service and this place is in serious need of some major hospitality training. The manager on duty said he could only refund half the total cost since they ate half the food. okayyyy i’m not arguing with this kid so do the refund. He should have done himself a favor and quite there instead of saying no one else that day has complained and question why they ate half. As if i had nothing better to do with my time. His attitude was as if we were doing something wrong and took offense stating how many batches of food they made that day. We did mention a Unilocal review: his response was you can’t do that if you didn’t eat the food. soggy watery food no thank you!

I’ve been here only once during a Monday for tacos. On Mondays, you can get their hard shell taco for a cheaper price (I can’t remember how much since my mom paid).
Service is super friendly and efficient. You can either get beef or chicken tacos with or without guacamole. They don’t skimp on portions even with the special. A big plus, they give you salsa and freshly made chips shortly after you sit down!
Highly recommended! I can’t wait to go back on a different day to try the other food and of course, drinks!

So I came here for Lunch with my friend today and I have to say the whole staff was very welcoming and super friendly! Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and was also attentive!
Will be back again!

My wife and I have been visiting Barragan’s for a number of years at Echo Park. We recently visited Barragan’s in Glendale for breakfast when the Echo Park location closed. We were impressed by the consistency of the quality and selection of food and service. The service by our server, Grace, was excellent. She is very graceful.
Wherever we go to find excellent Mexican home cooking we always look for a family operated restaurant such as Barragan’s.

This is our «go to» spot for good wholesome Mexican food after Mass on Sundays!
Margaritas, food and service is always spot on!

I miss the one in Echo Park! The service is ok, not sure why everything takes so long since the couple times I went there, it was pretty empty (should have been a sign). The cool part is that the daughters of the original owner work there and own the place. The service is just not the same as it was at the other location.
I decided to order a shrimp cocktail, at over $ 15 I would assume it was good or at least ok. I’m so disappointed! The cocktail had big chunks of tomatoes, onions, jalapeños and the cilantro wasn’t chopped. This is the first time I have a shrimp cocktail with jalapeños in it, without it being an option to not have them. There was no love put into that food, it was visually not appealing (the color was almost yellow) and it tasted awful. I didn’t send it back because my friend knew the waitress and I felt bad. I won’t be coming back… goodbye baragans.
