I think that this place needs to be more consistent with their food quality here and the service. On the weekends, it seems that they aren’t able to keep up with the demands of the consumers, and the quality of the sushi seems to dip(although I would recommend going here in days of faster business, due to the concept that the fishes are more fresh as they are all being used). The sushi pieces themselves are poorly constructed, but given the fact that it is an all you can eat place, I let this go. However the problem comes when the food quality here is replaced with stingy cost saving measures! The sushi pieces on some days are really good, and other days they are loaded with rice, or taste off. The food here will get the place here a 3.5 given the variations here in the food quality, but on a good day, they can easily be around a 4. The service here though is truly lacking, and it is one of the reasons that the review here is lowered. The service in a regular weekday seems lacking already, but doable. On the weekend, or times of heavy customer flow, the service really seems to break. If they would improve in this measure, I would add another star. Overall this place isn’t bad, but they need to improve their bottom line, I hadn’t had any majorly disastrous days here like some other people, and I hope I don’t. They need to be consistent.

Food is very good considering that it is an all you can eat restaurant. The sushi is always fresh and the appetizers are very tasty. The service is horrific and they do not check in on their patrons enough. No smiles, no thank yous and they seem moody. Not for people who like great service. I will just do check out. Not worth the poor mannerisms of the waitstaff.

Pretty much your average made to order sushi buffet place. Usually hard to tell sushi quality from rolls but the salmon sashimi is decent quality for sushi. Their Pad Thai noodles are good but different, I think they use ketchup. I also found the beef ribs to be better than some of the other sushi buffet spots-wasnt tough and rubbery. Kitchen orders come in reasonable time but the sushi part takes a while, I think there’s only one sushi chef. Red bean ice cream is good. Overall is OK and will return.

Service is slow, bust sushi is good. I got the all you can eat for $ 22.95. I’d go back. It’s nothing fancy.

I order from here at least once or twice a week if I don’t feel like cooking. It’s not high end sushi, but if you’re having a craving and want to eat cheap, this is the place for you. I feel like the sushi is still really good especially for the low price(~$ 3.50 for regular rolls ~$ 9.00 for specialty). I have never ate inside the restaurant only carry out, but they have an AYCE menu if you dine in which I need to try. Great way to try different rolls and find your favorites. My boyfriend always gets the Pad Thai, it’s the best in the Glen Cove /Sea Cliff area and we have tried a few different places. The mushroom soup is AMAZING! Spicy snow crab crunch and Philly roll are my favorite non specialty rolls.

Customer service needs to improve. We’re regulars– we’ve eaten here 3x this past week, even ordered sake, gave great tips. So this time hubby decided to order from the menu a la carte, and I would order from the all you can eat menu. My food came first, and when my hubby tried to sample the menu he was reprimanded and a waiter came out of nowhere and said we couldn’t share! Like, who goes to your table and tells you that you can’t eat from your significant other’s plate?! It’s not like we were a large party with children, trying to get over on eating tons of maki without paying for it. And we were not sharing the plate, and abusing the all you can eat menu. If they were concerned about that then ALL the plates, including the special rolls should be brought out together. But hey, we just heard that Tokyo Sushi has new owners, so I think we’ll be going there from now on.

Downgraded. Marginal two stars. Quality and consistency issues persist. I can’t be paying $ 50 for sushi and have it suck every third time. Ordered the chirashi. Pieces half the size of normal. Looked pre-made, thrown in the tray. Not that fresh. Even the rice was sub-par. Lettuce and garnish with black spots. Hopefully they read this and figure stuff out. Would like to see them do well, but they’ve lost us as a customer.

3 stars for the sushi, 5 stars for the takeout deal. 50% off sushi all the time! I’ll settle with 3 stars, though, because that’s the extent of my experience having never eaten in restaurant, and I don’t think I ever would have gone out of my way to eat here back when I was in the area regularly. There’s nothing wrong with the fish, though — it’s good, just not great. The few times I branched out to non-sushi areas of the menu, I was disappointed. Stick with the takeout deal and have appropriate expectations and you will be satisfied!

A group of a few people and myself went here for sushi one night. We got seated at a table, given water, and put our orders in on the little pieces of paper given to us. After a little bit of waiting for our orders to come out, we were a little confused because we weren’t sure what half of the stuff we ordered was. We were given wrong items, or what we did order never came out. Despite that, everything was pretty decent.

Very impressed! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food was really fantastic and the service was great. It really opens up once you get inside, definitely a place for trying, and great for lunch. Also, the rolls were very well proportioned, being that they had lots of fish and very little rice. Tip: Try the filet mignon roll, and any number of their other special rolls. They also have a fantastic lunch special, including an all you can eat sushi special. Enjoy!

Been looking for a good sushi place nearby and I think I’ve finally found it. The price was reasonable and the food was yummy. We placed an order for delivery and didn’t have to wait long at all. Would definitely order from here again!

This review is on the take out/delivery experience only as I have not eaten at the restaurant yet. Prompt delivery, tasty and fresh sushi, and really good prices. The gyoza and shumai are delicious. I’m a big fan of the lobster tempura roll. The smoked salmon on the Philadelphia roll is perfectly smoky. I have recommended to friends and will continue to do so.

Updated review — We really enjoyed this place, but it’s been going downhill, and we’re upset about it. The last few times we have come here, the service has dropped tremendously. We usually come in on a Saturday, around 1pm. The place has been open for a while, but they are still doing a thorough cleaning — ie bleaching tables, setting tables, sweeping, mopping(with bleach), while we were seated for the last 2 times. I don’t enjoy eating with a pungent bleach stench stuck in my nose. Our favorite roll, the filet mignon, was not even completed when given to us. The filet was not cooked correctly, they left out the tobitko and other garnishes, and you could definitely tell it was off. In addition, today’s service was atrocious. The lady who is always there, was very unperson-able, and acted like we were an inconvenience to her. It has steadily gotten worse on every visit this year, but today’s was the final straw. We were the only patrons in the place for our entire meal(about an hour), and we had to wait forever for anyone to acknowledge our next order, and for them to pick up the check, which they are usually on top of you for. We never got the exact amount of food that we ordered, and it sounds like some of the fish was off today(the b. f’s stomach is not feeling well). We are moving soon, and are sad to leave this place, but maybe it’s for the better, as it seems like things aren’t going well.

Local AYCE sushi and Japanese cuisine for about $ 20 pp. Pluses: –Seldom crowded –The staff is very nice. –They allow BYOB –Good take-out discounts. Minuses: –The quality of the fish is mediocre –You’re somewhat limited to the more common(less expensive) varieties All in all, I’m glad they’re around and it’s good for a budget sushi fix.

Have been here twice– the first time around, we went in the dead of winter(for lunch.)The restaurant had the air conditioning blowing, and this threw off our whole dining experience– although our food was decent, it was too uncomfortable to enjoy. Just went again tonight for dinner, and wow was it different! The place was the same– even extremely cold, so this time we asked(but were actually listened to) to turn off the air. They accommodated, and were very attentive to our table. Granted, we were one of three tables, but two different waitresses constantly were hawking around to see if we needed anything or were unsatisfied. Two of our guests ordered the all-you-can eat, which offers a great variety for a pretty reasonable price. My roommate and I ordered seaweed salad, which actually was seaweed over a bed of lettuce(something neither of us have seen before, but were pleasantly surprised.) We also got the cold noodles, which tasted amazing with the spicy sauce(you have to ask for this.) I ordered a sweet potato roll, which far surpassed Fatty Fish’s roll. It was cooked perfectly and had a great sauce alongside it. I would definitely recommend this place– they were pretty bare for a Saturday night, and if more people went there, it would quickly become a local favorite. Try it out, they have great lunch specials(but maybe get it for delivery instead!!!)

Sushi Time 188 has had many different names and owners in the past. The current owners have done an excellent job with service, food, and quality. Positives: –Fresh and moist seaweed salad served on a bed of lettuce. The lettuce enhances the crunch. –Delicious cold noodles! Try them with the hot sauce. They’re out of this world! –Finally, they have, HANDSDOWN the BEST sweet potato rolls on this north shore area of Long Island. They beat Kotobuki, Fatty Fish, Hazuki, Asian Fusion, and beyond. Negatives: –Tiny parking lot with few spaces. –Always freezing cold inside. HOWEVER, if you ask, they will adjust the temperature. –Poor signage. You would never know they existed even if you drove by. They NEED a better and more prominent sign.

I would recommend this place to anyone in Queens who loves Sushi Village. The menus are exactly the same. Unlike Sushi Village there is no wait either! The bf treated me to this place last month. We came in on a Friday night and there was no wait! There were only a few other tables full, because it just opened. We got to sit there as long we wanted ordering sushi and food since we did all you can eat. You just check off how many items you want and they bring it out. They have their prices online too if you just want lunch or dinner. Apparently they have hibachi now which I don’t remember seeing when I was there. If you choose a booth you can also adjust your lighting if you like. I think the quality is great for a buffet. The prices are good, the service is quick, and your belly gets full. My bf really likes this place so I know we will be back whenever he wants to do sushi buffet again.

I had to write a review because this place was empty and I want them to do better. I’ve passed by this place a hundred times, but just recently tried it out for the first time. I think the restaurant recently got renovated and re-opened as a sushi place. The décor is simple but nice. Great value because the sushi was surprisingly good and fresh. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly. Also they have no bar, but its BYOB which could be a good thing.

We tries the all you can eat menu. Sushi is fresh; garden and seaweed salad, delicious! Teriyaki tofu and red snapper teriyaki are my favorite. Desert we tried fried banana and ice cream. Will definitely come back! The service is great and everyone is very friendly.
