DONOTEATHERE. This place is an absolute dump. There’s a giant hole in the ceiling leaking God knows what kind of liquid ALL over the floor. So much so that they have to block off half of the restaurant. But you have to walk through these disgusting puddles to get to the bathroom. Additionally, the entire restaurant smells like the bathroom. After leaving the restaurant my mother got sick from the food. Please do not eat here.

Amazing service by Valerie! I loved my experience here. Love the vintage feel yet everything was clean. The food and coffee were great for diner food standards. The place was closing at 1:30 but they did not rush us out and even made a new pot of coffee for us. Valerie was very attentive and everyone was super friendly. I would definitely come back!

The only diner I dine at. Old school feel with glen cove heritage outlined throughout. Great food, great service. Always had an outstanding experience here.

Food was fine, wait staff unenthusiastic. Had to ask for coffee refill 3 times. Overheard one waitress reprimanding another. Asked for bill twice. Probably won’t bother coming back-so many other options.

Service was a little slow but I was really impressed with my breakfast and absolutely loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. I order an omelet with french fries on the side, which was a huge mistake, because the home fries are absolutely amazing. I really liked this place, and that’s coming from someone who is really into the«all-american diner» thing.

We love this diner. It’s like a time warp when you walk in, a very kitschy old-school place, which I love. Much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Good food, good service, good prices. Monster omelettes big enough to share. Parking is a bit annoying, but worth the trouble. The clientele seems like it’s made up of steady regulars, which is always a good sign. Overall a neighborhood gem. Best diner in Glen Cove by far.

An old school breakfast/lunch neighborhood staple. The interior is still reminiscent of an 1950’s soda shop and the long counter in the front reminds of the counters I once sat at in our local Woolworth’s restaurant… Food is solid diner fare. If their is a rush of people, service is a bit spotty, we actually got up a couple of times to get things from the counter because our waitress was MIA… but still didn’t deter us from enjoying our meal. Liked that most of the tables were filled with families who either lived in the area or lived closed enough to make this spot a regular haunt on the weekends. We will be back for sure.

We have eaten here a few times. Decent food, terrible service! We went in today, holding our 1 year old and waited to be seated, and waited, and… No one acknowledged our presence or said they would be with us in a moment. We got nothing, so we left!

Best breakfast around. Small town diner simple and easy. Great service and gets very busy sat/sun morning so be prepared to wait a few mins for your food.

Simple but terrific. A great place to start the day. Makes you feel like you are back in the 50s. Breakfast is king here but lunch is good too. Once in awhile I even break down and enjoy a shake made with Henry’s homemade ice cream.

Typical Diner fare but it is very good. The ice cream they have is home made and its delicious. However the service is typically slow and one waitress I had was rude, pushy, and mean. She was an older woman and snippy. She ignored us(we were one of two groups there) and when she thought we were finished she threw the check on the table. However we wanted ice cream and when we tried to call her back over she begrudgingly came back. They need younger and nicer waitstaff.

Great place to eat. Spic N span clean kitchen. Expect to wait, but it’s worth it. I’ve never had a bad meal there. They also make some great chocolates for the holidays.

I went there this morning to take out breakfast. I ordered a Spinach Omelet, no cheese and the Big C Omelet. Each omelet came with a choice of potatoes and toast. I was asked if I wanted home fried potatoes or french fries. My request was yes but only if they can be made crisp and well done. I also ordered rye toast. 15 minutes later, my order was ready and I went home ready to enjoy breakfast with my wife. Breakfast had been packaged in round aluminum containers with clear plastic lids. The toast had been placed on the inside top of each container. It was soggy and inedible. The home fired potatoes were not well done as requested. The waitress was very sweet and accommodating and seemed to care, the results were not what they should have been although I suspect she did communicate my preferences to the cooks. Too bad, I have recently moved to the area and was hoping to have found someplace where we might enjoy breakfast regularly…

No need to Instagram any images of Henry’s, the ambiance hasn’t changed in forever. I stopped her for breakfast Sunday morning. I got the French toast and my wife went for a veggie omelet. The food took a while to come out, not so much because it was busy, but the small size of the kitchen area. French toast was simple buttery and very good. Next time I would go for the tall stack. The omelette was nothing remarkable and came with home fries and toast. The prices seemed pretty standard, and have kept up with Ben Bernanke’s inflation. Would I come back here? Sure, I’m an addict for ice cream and shakes, they make it in house – therefore it’s worth a shot. Also not many solid breakfast options in Glen Cove, so this is a good option.

I’ve had an obsession with BLT’s recently that was born from the worst marriage of bacon, lettuce and tomato between bread I have ever been asked to pay for. Since then I have been searching for greatness outside of the care and attention to detail in my own kitchen and so far; Henry’s is the place to beat! Henry’s is a 50’s esq homemade ice cream parlor & sweet shop with some really great diner favorites in the heart of Glen Cove. The prices are incredibly fair, it’s clean and the food is made with care. Be sure and order a milkshake with your meal, trust me. So why the BLT? Well, a BLT and it’s simplicity can be made great only by the way it is prepared and will prove what else you can expect from a restaurant. You can easily screw up something so simple by using whatever old bacon has been sitting on the flat top just waiting for some unlucky bastard to not waste it. By not using the right amount mayo, slicing tomatoes too thick or just using the wrong parts of lettuce. A great sandwich takes effort and Henry’s clearly cares about their food and customers. My BLT was made with hot cooked to order thin and crispy bacon, juicy sliced tomato and fresh lettuce; it was just about perfect. I had also ordered french fries with melted mozzarella cheese along with side of the best brown gravy I have ever tasted.($ 8.95) Seriously, their brown gravy is really incredible and I am hoping the next time I’m back it’s exactly the same. Great find!

Pro: This is a fantastic gem in the city of Glen Cove. It is a landmark diner. Henry’s Housemade Ice Cream is the best in town. The best sundaes and milkshakes! If you are looking for an all american classic diner, this hits the mark right on the nose. Con: Their menu has not seen a revision since they opened up shop way back when. They could really use a spruce up to bring them some relevance in the new found vintage culture. Mixed greens and working on food presentations would hurt them none. A brunch specific menu on the weekends would be lovely. (They could also use on replacing that disgusting urinal deodorant tab with something that doesn’t permeate after replacement.)

OMG — belgian waffles with banana ice cream(yes a little whipped cream and maple side — but just a little) — Don’t like banana ice cream? Me either. but I LOVE this banana ice cream — so now you have to go try it on a waffle here. It is in an old diner on one of many village streets filled with stores. put it in to the GPS.

Dined here for breakfast/brunch on a recent Sunday morning, during a weekend visit to Long Island. Our hosts say this is one of their favorite places for a nice weekend brunch — i found it middle-of-the-road for the type of restaurant. Although candy and desserts are featured near the front of the place, most of the real estate is devoted to an olde-fashioned style diner/restaurant. They’ve got the kitsch on the wall, the booths running along one wall and stools and counter on the other — all straight out of the 50s. Not really a ‘theme’ — it seems authentic, like they just haven’t really updated it in a long time. That said, nothing looked really worn or run-down, so A+ for maintenance. Bonus points for a few of the signs that made me chuckle. Our waiter was a complete space cadet — he screwed up one of the orders, and seemed a bit off. Our hosts commented that he was one of the waiters they usually tried to avoid, and that others were better. Portions were sizable, as you would expect from this type of establishment. Everyone in the party appeared satisfied with their choices(mostly omelets). My order of blueberry pancakes and home fries was excellent — the blueberries were juicy and the homefries were right in-between overcooked and too soft. i really wanted to try their homemade ice cream, but was completely stuffed, and thought better of attempting it before noon. The prices didn’t blow my socks off either way, but i’m not sure how it compares to other diners in long island. A solid effort, but nothing stood out that would merit the fourth star. If i was a local(or end up in the area again), i’d give it another try.
