Got food poisoning from their raw oysters. I was home sick for a week. NEVER will I return, unless I have a death wish. I gave it two stars because it was once a good restaurant.

The happy hour is where it’s at. The drinks & food deals are great. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. Can’t go wrong wit them or the grilled pork chop

Christmas luncheon for 10? Never again. Almost ½ hour before we received drinks. Had to eat soup with teaspoons — they ran out of soup spoons. We were given 8 small rolls for a table of 10. We asked for more and, after a long wait, were given 4. Six more arrived just before the bill! Iced tea was finally refilled just as we were finishing our meals. This place was so understaffed — the waitresses were all but running back and forth and disappearing for long periods of time. They LOVE salt and sugar and apparently have no timer on the deep fryer. Fried shrimp were salt bombs and very overcooked. Escargot would have been good, but way too much salt. Italian sausage was deep fried(?) and so overcooked they were chewy. The cole slaw and pickled beets were so sweet they could have been dessert. They have only soft ice cream and the servings looked more like milkshakes in a bowl! But gee, the decorations were pretty!!!

Don’t ever and i MEANEVER go to this place. WE ordered carryout because my co-worker was desperate for their crabcake. I ordered maryland crab soup and a chicken cesar salad, not only am I desperate for some flavor, but I am going to be desperate for the bathroom soon. I mean talk about the BG’s :(. It definitely caters to the older generation. This was the worst place. $ 25 for nothing that was good. Their famous strawberry shortcake had orange cake, and it was stale. I will never again be talked into going here. As my co-worker put it, the only Sunset I want is the Sunset outside.

It’s time for the sun to set. The waitresses were arguing in the lobby. Terrible service.

Went to sunset for the first time last night and was not impressed. Ordered crab dip to start which was tasty with plenty of crab but was only served with 4 small pieces of garlic bread for dipping. Following the appetizer, we were handed a basket of crackers, I assume in place of bread along with 2 types of spreadable cheeses, which included cream cheese. Makes no sense to me. Along with the crackers, we got a plate of random veggies and pickles. Different, but okay. I ordered the chicken parm with pasta and it was a HUGE serving. However, it was presented messy and difficult to eat. Took most of the chicken home and left all of the pasta. My boyfriend got the stuffed shrimp which he enjoyed but it was only 4 small stuffed shrimp which I thought was strange after seeing the size of my dish. Although service was slow, we weren’t in a rush so we weren’t to upset about it. The reason I give 3 stars is because of drink prices! I would definitely come back and sit at the bar for drinks before I come back to sit and eat.

Good God! If I could rate s zero I would. We were given $ 100 gift certificate from a friend who obviously adores The Sunset. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant I my life. This place is supposed to be iconic for what? We walked in and it smelled like a nursing home. The smell of urine was apparent and pungent. It looked like we entered the dining room of a nursing home. Our waitress was chewing gum and acted as though she really didn’t want to be there. We were going through with this. It was a gift. The Cream of Crab soup was gelatinous. And cool. I asked for it to be heated up and our waitress acted like we were bothering her and was insulted that we would ask for this legionary soup to be heated up. Stuffed mushrooms… what a joke. The mushrooms were spongy and felt like they came out of a can. After we tried to get the waitresses attention and she rolled her eyes that did it. We threw the gift certificate on the table and walked out. Not one person asked what was wrong or why we were leaving. Apparently this place is patronized by locals and regulars. I guess they are the ones who matter My advice… clean the restaurant, retrain the staff and overhaul the menu. Nothing was pleasant about this Sunday afternoon.

OMG… What happened to the Sunset Restaurant. Have gone on and off for over 30 years. Went today first time in about 5 years. Really bad. Worst shrimp scampi I have ever had. Crab imperial disgusting. Cream of Crab tasteless. Prices didn’t go down to reflect the poor quality. Giving one star cause I have to. Need a negative star eating to rate the Sunset. Never again!

Only time I’ve ever had Steak-Ums passed off as a Prime Rib Sandwich. Took 45 minutes for 2 French Dips, and a Sausage Sandwich. When Double T has fresher food than you, you’ve got problems! Oh, and«NOSUBSTITUTIONS!»

This is the 1st review I’ve ever written. I came here simply to see if others had same dining experience as my family did because it’s been about 8 yrs since we’ve dined there and it’s really changed alot. The hostess was busily penciling in her book, not acknowledging we were 3 feet in front of her, going over seating with another employee. We were one of 3 diners there so not to busy to seat us then work out your book. The place smelled odd for a restaurant. Not like food, but like old musty wood and that bar smell. But the place is old so… The waiter was nice, curteous and professional. I had the chicken chesapeake. I can’t explain this. The chicken was pink. Completely pink. I had to cut into it to see if it was cooked n it was because it was dry as a bone. I don’t even know how that can happen. It looked raw, but it was cooked??? My son had a filet mignon medium. It was all cut up. I didn’t know what it was. It looked like beef cubes on his plate. The waiter explained it was butterflied to cut down on cooking time. Which explains the dryness. But I figured it was ordered medium so maybe their medium is really cooked thru. The butterfly cut? Good lord. Ur not supposed to cut up a good steak to hasten the cook time for crying out loud. My daughter got lasagna. She liked it. It looked delicious. My husband was happy with his prime rib but his sides were cold. Mine were too. Our bill came to 180 and to tell u the truth I felt like I through that money away. I would really love to know how u can overcook chicken and have it look raw. That was so weird.

I’m going to have to give this place 4 stars for several reasons. One our server stayed on top of things and she was waiting on at least 6 tables with at least 3 to 4 people at a table. I was here for a financial workshop on money investing in your future. The speaker was great never a boring moment. I gained a lot of information at this Dinner Seminar and the Restaurant was A ok. The only thing is the restroom is so small. Just one stall. I thought that was odd for a restaurant but at least it was clean. The food was good. I really enjoyed the crab cakes. It had lump meat with very little filling. Started off with the Romaine Salad which was nice and fresh ended with the Cheese cake super rich and good! I highly recommend this place. I can’t comment on the prices because every thing was free and included except for alcohol. You definitely can’t beat that. Oh btw they appear to be generous on their serving. :)

It’s ok for average prime rib. The crab cakes are decent. I like the relish tray the best, Where else can you get radishes pickles carrots and pickled onions on the same plate, Plus you get cheese and butter for your crackers. The bar caters hard to the locals, And I get funny looks from the bartenders like I’m not supposed to be there which I find hilarious.

I went to there for first time and was not happy at all. After waitin hr to be seated and another hr for food. We had party of 5 which of everyone ordered stuffed shrimp, shriml fettuccini and new york strip. Food was salty the steak was cold was not happy. i get the part of busy im not gettin tje part of why the food sat in heat lamp before it came out 30 mins before being served. Manager wasnt even interested in listen to what i had to say or even that i going giv him a bad review. I guess if you have tables makin over 100 bux turnaround i wouldn’t care about one complaint

Nothing fresh, vegetable nor seafood. Reasonable prices and good service but sub par food. I come here because my parents loved it. Sentiment over logic

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. We were there with a large party, called ahead with reservations, and we sat. And sat. And sat. For an hour they told us they were setting up the table. An hour. We left. Never even got to try the soup…

I seriously don’t understand why this place does so well. Perhaps it’s the port wine cheese, cream cheese and celery sticks that they put out on the table. Folks seem to go crazy for that small touch. But, it’s not enough(for me) to make up for bland food and bad service. Tonight, we were a table of 12, seated on a night when several other large parties were there. I understand how being double sat with large parties can create service issues — but that doesn’t excuse: servers dropping the f-bomb right behind us, at the water station; servers walking through the dining room while texting. There were many other service hiccups — but for these, I fault management for putting poorly trained servers on the floor, and then repeatedly reminding us ‘she’s new’ — while making no attempt to jump in and help. I got the fried chicken. The portion size was large(½ a chicken), and the chicken itself was tasty. The green beans were bland — and were either out of a can or else frozen. No taste and bad texture — like cafeteria green beans. The baked potato was presented without any butter or sour cream, and the potato itself had no seasoning. Maybe, because they cater to an older crowd, they leave the food under seasoned. My Mom’s fish sandwich was a breaded filet on a roll — no mayo, lettuce or tomato. She had to ask for that. My sister liked her scallops. My dad liked his shrimp salad sandwich. French onion soup broth was tasty — but the cheese could have been left under the broiler a bit longer.

This used to be my favorite crab cake and cream of crab soup place until I discovered Pappa’s. It is still better than average, but I don’t think the quality is as good as it was 5 – 10 years ago. I love going around Christmas time because it is so nicely decorated and it has become a tradition to go around the holidays for the family.
