I frequent this particular Grullense because of customer service and food quality which is definitely excellent. Today we tried something different. We ordered the chicken tostadas and they are very very delicious! You can check more about this business in my other postings

I go deep: tripas tacos, lengua burrito. The chorizo breakfast burrito is great, too. Not sure why super taqueria across the street gets so much more traffic, this place destroys it. Better salsas, better seasoning, MASSABOR!

I saw this business listed as a Small Business Saturday participant, and I happened to be shopping in the right nondescript plaza of Gilroy, so I gave them a shot. I’m glad that I did. The name on the sign outside is stylized as «El Grullense, Jal.» I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it’s hilarious. The restaurant looked smaller on the outside than it was on the inside, kinda like a TARDIS. It’s otherwise just like other Mexican taco places, with tacos, burritos, and some other dishes like weekend menudo and such. The televisions appeared to have futbol on. The tacos are $ 1.70 each. I tried one taco al pastor and one cabeza. Both tacos had two soft tortillas each, which is consistent with all the good taco joints that I’ve ever been to. There were raw onions, grilled onions, cilantro, and sauces. The al pastor was one of the not-so-sweet variety, but it was still pretty good. The cabeza was tastier, with a little more heat and some fatty meat. They didn’t blow me away compared to some places, but they were both good. The super burrito is $ 7.00. I ordered it with carne asada. It also contained plenty of rice, beans, onion, guacamole, tomato, and a medium spiciness sauce. It was also pretty good, although it did strike me as a little pricey. I haven’t really explored all the taco options in the area, but I enjoyed the meal enough that I’d go back if I had a craving.

Ok, I made a Unilocal account to write this review. I have never been so disappointed with this place like today. The two women were so into their conversation that they had 5 people waiting in line for them. I ordered a quesadilla & nachos, told them I want the nachos in a to-go plate but I want to dine in. My mom received her quesadilla with only half cheese and meat, half of it was burnt tortilla. I wait for at least 20 minutes & I ask if my nachos are almost done. They tell me, «Oh you want them now?» 10 minutes later I get my nachos and I asked nachos don’t come with beans? She tells me no. I walked away mad. I was in the middle of eating when she tells me, do you want beans? Like woman are you serious?! I just answered her no. I also looked at their menu, & the nachos have beans! Never again will i ever go to this El Grullense. I also saw her call out an order, the customer approached the counter & he tells her its to-go, she says oh really?, and fixes it. Like come on, pay attention. I highly recommend the new El Grullense on 1St. by the Dollar Tree, Very Friendly Staff &ALWAYS clean. +Great customer service.

so… I think the food at this location was decent. However, DONOT use the restroom, there was shit all over the toilet and graffiti everywhere. Looks like no one has cleaned that bathroom in years. GROSS. I give the bathroom –10 stars I had 3 tacos plate — meat and tortillas was good. If you ever come here just get your food to go

This El Grullense Jal is one of 3 locations in Gilroy. I’ve only been to this one because it’s closest to my house. The food here is decent, but I definitely have other favorites to go to in town. The tacos are just $ 1.40 each, but they’re pretty small. You’ll need at least 3 to fill you up. Don’t eat too many though, because they can get pretty greasy. Super burritos are $ 5.50, which is pretty cheap, but they’re a little bit on the smaller size compared to other super burritos in town. They’re pretty good and unlike most taquerias, El Grullense throws in lettuce and tomatoes, which adds some nice fresh produce to the otherwise heavy burrito. The menu also includes plates with rice and beans, as well as tortas, sopas, etc. Just about everything is under $ 10. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but has a decent amount of seats. I’ve never really seen it too crowded. The place is definitely cleaner than it’s neighbor across the street(Super Taq), so that’s a plus. Service is also very fast. Overall, El Grullense Jal is the place to come if you’re looking for a quick and cheap meal.
