Very small and casual but the food and views are fantastic. The Almond Chicken Salad is a favorite! The fruit is always fresh!

Excellent — I had the halibut sandwich with clam chowder side. Delicious others had the salads, burgers, fish and chips. All raves

The location has a nice view of the harbor, and the service is friendly, but the atmosphere in the restaurant feels very disorganized and run down. The clam chowder was good but the rest of the food was poorly cooked.

We just happened to be driving by and stopped for lunch. Atmosphere was light and bright and fun. There’s indoor seating with waterfront view. The owners were on site and had great hospitality and take great pride in their space. Menu pricing was in line with other places. The salmon spread was amazing and the potatoes with my breakfast sandwich were really great. The only reason I docked a star was because of the ambiance of the restaurant leaves something to be desired. But the natural view is great, food was good, and service is exceptional!

It didn’t look like much as we walked in but it was great. Waterfront views. One pound of steamed clams was just what I wanted and they were terrific. It seemed like a very large serving and every clam was a big one. Staff was friendly even though we clearly aren’t locals. I would recommend this instead of some of the more expensive places with the same view.

Great friendly service. I had the jerk chicken. Outstanding. Came with mashed yams. Was skeptical and turned out to be awesome. Great view of the harbor. Simple atmosphere.

Love it! Parked the boat, came up and was so happy to try this hole in the wall, instead of Anthonys! I had the halibut and chips. Boyfriend had the Cuban burger. Waitress suggested I get 2 pieces, instead of 3. Which was perfect! We had the salmon dip for starters, and the bread was perfectly toasted! bf and I were fighting over the dip! Batter was soft and yummy, had a bite of my mans burger it was full and juicy. All their condiments are made from scratch, Ask for their poppy vinaigrette! It was truly great, and lemon-garlic aioli was also. Staff was very sweet, very authentic. lemons come dipped in paprika, never seen but loved: D

The food wasn’t anything special. The entire restaurant smelled like grease. And when I got a look at the fryer I understood why. The thing was filthy!!! It looked like the oil hadn’t been changed in way too long. I had to change my clothes when I got home because they stunk so bad. I had the bacon and egg croissant and it was just ok. It came with way too many potatoes that were bland and tasteless. The small chowder was pretty good though. The owners were nice, but they need to pay more attention to cleanliness. The restroom wasn’t very clean either. Not someplace I’ll return to.

Not a good experience here at all. I’m really amazed at all the very high reviews! I ordered an omelette that was so overcooked it was almost burnt. The bacon inside was flavorless and added nothing. The potatoes were OK but are billed as Potatoes O’Brien, which would include red and green bell peppers. MarketPlace potatoes are just that — diced potatoes, fried. But the real turn off for me is the utter lack of cleanliness. Look at the cooking area — has it ever been cleaned? Look at the surfaces, the walls, the floor areas, the grill itself — horribly Filthy deep fat fryer — the oil was dark brown and splatters everywhere — brown grease goo on everything — even the«clean» pots hanging look nasty from all the grease in the air. The burnt grease smell is so intense we both had to change clothes when we got home. Then notice the behind-the-counter area where you pay — look back to the filthy sink area where they wash the dishes, then scan your eyes down to the floor area around — bags of rice sitting on the floor in a long nasty row of ooze and food residue. How can they use rice sitting on a filthy floor like this? I guess if you like greasy fried stuff and don’t mind taking your chances on the cleanliness, I’m sure this place is just fine. But not for me — there are far too many other choices in the area. I hate to give bad reviews but sometimes people just need to be warned. I will at least say the service and server were wonderful — happy, polite, prompt, and sweet. I’m just sorry she has to work in such an unhealthy environment that is this greasy spoon.

Best claim chowder I have ever had, thick, creamy with great flavor. Burgers and salad are great too.

clam chowder was yummy 5 dollars for a cup little pricey for such a small serving. order a ham and turkey sandwich with fries my bill was 29 something. just for 2 sandwiches and a small cup of soup. prices is ridiculous and the sandwiches weren’t anything to talk about. Should have just made my own at home. stupid me.

Came here on a Monday afternoon and there weren’t very many people. I checked in and received a free side of fries! Since we did that, She offered to bring me a cup of chowder instead of my fries that came with my meal. That was awesome. The view here is gorgeous. We sat on the right hand side of the diner where there’s only 3 tables. And is behind the kitchen. I recommend this because it’s so quiet and quaint over there. The food was great but not spectacular. Good food good view. Good service. Good prices!!! Check this place out if it’s not packed! It was a pleasant lunch

As waterfront dining goes you can’t beat the front row marina/harbor view. The service is personal and friendly. You can order«off» the menu. The parking is OK, the walk is justified if on a nice day for the area is pedestrian friendly and pretty. So the décor is a bit substandard… it matters not if you want to entertain with great Caribbean fare and a view!

I love eating here when I’m in Gig Harbor. They have the best fish and chips. I’ve only been in there a handful of times, and it’s been over a year since the last, but the owner still remembered me. She’s so friendly and personable. Oh and you can’t forget the view! It’s right on the water at the base of the harbor. You can see the marina and on a clear day Mt Rainier is close enough to touch. Definitely worth a visit.

Okay, Granted THISIS A HOLEIN A WALL. If you blink you could miss it. But, if you give it a chance the experience might surprise you. We went there today and planned on going to Anthony’s next door.(So you can imagine we were expecting something entirely different for our meal.) When we went into Anthony’s we were told there would be a forty five minuet wait. Well we had three children with us so we decided to try this place RIGHTNEXTDOOR. The entrance is a bit strange and the interior is bare, and bland. HUMBLE. But the service was good. The food ended up being AMAZING. we had the Salmon spread and bread appetizer an Three orders of Fish and Chips. Their portions are generous and the fish tasted fresh. My aunt ordered the Clam Chowder. She is an 87 year old woman who has LOVED clam chowder all her life and has always been very vocal when its off, bad, or bland. This… she said it took her back to her childhood and was the best clam chowder she had in at least 20 years. I tried some myself and it was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. Turned out it was made from scratch. The halibut Fish and chips were huge! Anyway i got to talking with the owner. A lovely woman, she explained they had been there 15 years and finally got to a point that they can start renovating the entire place. She said they need to keep business going so it will be happening in stages. So in the next year the place will be improving on the inside which seems to be its only flaw. Seriously, give this place your business so it can actually grow and improve, fitting the communities taste. Please patron them. They are doing so much right and want to do more. Good job ladies!

I had the worst experience ever. My family and I planned a last minute vacation in Gig Harbor, and just adored it. Marketplace Grille was the first restaurant we went to and we did not like it. The food was good, but the atmosphere, service, and experience weren’t. We got there, looked at THEPAPERTAKEOUTMENU and decided the food sounded alright. We were then lead into basically the kitchen on the second side of the awkward layout. It smelled like rotten fish. The view was good but the waitresses were playing a little game of swicheroo. It alters red between two women who were equally nice. There was maybe one other family in there and on a CDPLAYER they were blasting Michael Buble. WHOEVENLIKESHIM? My ham sandwich was alright but the fries were burnt which is unfortunate because it took ONEENTIREHOUR, SIXTYWHOLEMINUTESTOCOME bottom line– no

I love this little hole in the wall. It isn’t much to look at but the view is incredible and the food is amazing. The owners are from Trinidad and are just the sweetest people. You must try this place.

Here’s a quaint restaurant located lower gig harbor that you need to try, best fish and chips so far, so says my 14yo, ate the whole plate, had a tropical salad topped with wild salmon, freshest fruit an excellent balsamic and perfectly grilled salmon, it’s run by a couple that care for the down home atmosphere and generous portions at a fair price. View of the harbor from the back, very casual no frills atmosphere that will once tasted have you coming back.

Overall the ambiance is charming and the view of the harbor is spectacular. Their highly touted clam chowder is way better than Mo’s clam chowder in Oregon and any of the bread bowl clam chowder restaurants on the Seattle waterfront. This is the go to place for clam chowder in the Pacific Northwest. I made the mistake of ordering a small chowder, fries, and Caesar salad. Next time I’ll know better and order just clam chowder. Mark ordered Caribbean Crab Cakes with Mango Salsa and fresh grilled vegetables which were perfectly done. I felt I missed ordered because Mark’s entrée was far better that what I selected. For dish aficionados the dishes are authentic Fiesta ware. As we were leaving, I noticed a huge juicy hamburger on the grill. Yum.
