So far my favorite teriyaki place in gig harbor. Close to my work and close to the library where I study. Very convenient for me and I’m always satisfied. I love short ribs and they hit my palate right. LOL

Delicious, freshly made cuisines, & genuinely, kind people. I totally love this spot! BOTH sides of the family request to have at least 1 meal, when they visit(but 2 – 3 is good). Don’t change a thing! We love it.

Best Japanese food In Gig Harbor! My husband and I love the seaseme chicken, chicken yakisoba and chicken teriyaki. There is so much flavor and sauce on the sesame chicken. It always tastes so fresh and is fast! Big portions of yakisoba with lots of noodles!

Ok ok check it out… stop the searching… this is by far the BESt Mongolia beef ever… don’t believe me? Try it… great service, food came out in great time, rice was prefect, so thrilled!!! The salad was robust… price was fantastic. Life is good, life makes sense, Gig is better for having this place. Chill location… I’ll be coming back. Too bad I live so far away!!!

My co workers told me this is a great place to eat. so I checked them out. I am very happy to find great food at a decent price and I usually come in once a week. A must place to visit.

Favorite teriyaki shop in the Harbor. The food is great and always consistent but for me the best part is the summertime outdoor dining. They are located in a strip mall next to the QFC but in a secluded nook behind a jewelry store. They put out a couple of patio tables w/umbrellas on a nice little plaza with planters and hanging baskets filled with seasonal flowers. The jewelry store has outdoor speakers and will usually be playing some sort of jazz in the afternoons. Service is excellent as well with your drink glass rarely making it to empty before being refilled. Just a great place for lunch on a warm summer day.

Nice teriyaki place! I have always been partial to Kinza teriyaki but because of the high garlic content on Kinza’s menu I decided to try some other places. Happy by the bay does not disappoint! Fast friendly service with a great menu. And they seem to use less garlic in their teriyaki sauces than other places.

For a teriyaki place, it’s pretty standard. Not very expensive and they have pretty standard menu items. Service is usually well, however I would not order the curry chicken(it doesn’t stand compared to kinzas). Still a nice teriyaki place

We love Happy At the Bay! My husband always loves the Bento Box and I always love the Teriyaki Chicken and Tempura. We really love the salad dressing and frequently take home a bottle. The service is always friendly and prompt!

Not sure how to rate Happy at the Bay… This was one of my favorite cheap restaurants for years. The only place I could find good tofu. My favorite things on the menu were tofu fried rice or tofu yakisoba, both with extra tofu. The older couple the owned the place were so sweet and always greeted me by name over the phone when I called in my order. I haven’t seen the older couple in a while, but I’ve hardly been going at all and didn’t notice a drop off in quality until my most recent takeout pickup last week. I got my two staples. First off, there wasn’t extra tofu, barely even a normal amount. They had repeated back my order correctly over the phone, so I guess they are just giving really minuscule portions on the tofu. Also the tofu was kind of dry. And both dishes really seemed to be lacking flavor, particularly the fried rice. Usually I eat until I am stuffed, but I didn’t even feel like a second helping. It’s sad that it takes a negative experience to bring me to write a review. I wish the original owners hadn’t sold, they had a really good thing.

There is no dearth of Teriyaki places in the Pacific NorthWet — almost like coffee joints. Happy At the Bay used to be my favorite. We were greeted by an older Japanese Gentleman with a black beret and there was classical music playing on the boom box. The food was lightly seasoned with well-made sauces. Then they sold the business. Rock music has taken over, which is fine. As long as it is background music, I don’t really care. What matters is the food. The light seasoning has given way to the cloying, corn starch-based glop found at most Americanized Chinese places. The rice clearly had been made hours earlier and was sitting in the rice cooker… chewy and flavorless. Sadly, my go-to teriyaki place has turned into a go-by place.

Yum! I love a good teriyaki and Happy at the Bay delivers. The sauce is nice and sweet, and it gets a little crispy on the ends when the grill it. I also really like their salad dressing. This will probably be the only place in Gig Harbor that I will go for Teriyaki from now on!

I LOVE this place! The food is delicious and high quality, and the prices are super low! Now, the atmosphere of the restaurant isn’t the best, but l I still would put this restaurant in my top 3 places to go as a Gig Harbor local.

I have been here a couple of times for lunch and the food was OK. Not bad but not great either. I moved here from San Diego in 2006 and was trying like crazy to find sushi. I unfortunantly decided to try the sushi here. Ummm not sushi! The Teriyaki is fine but don’t get sushi!

I was killing time for work and this place was next door to the store I had to visit. I came in with no expectation and I left very surprised. I had the Hot and sour soup which was a little pricey at $ 3.99 however it was very large and had a lot of vegetables which is very rare. I think if they had this in a smaller portion at and less veggies at half the price it would be very complimentary to the meal. I will say it was probably the best hot and sour soup I can remember ever eating. I also had the Chicken Teriyaki which was under $ 7; Wow this was almost as good as it gets. Large portion of Chicken perfectly cooked, more than enough rice, and a decent salad. I wish they had a place in Seattle that I could check out more often but, this will be my Gig Harbor treat.
