The homemade ice cream is fantastic. The server was rude. The building itself is beautiful, the outdoor area is great. You can even take a peak into a historic well.

If you’re looking for ice cream in Gettysburg, Mr. G’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream is the place, a regular ice cream parlor. Located right on Baltimore Street fronted with two huge sycamore trees it’s easy to spot and historic in that the building is a survivor of the Battle of Gettysburg. They make their own ice cream in a variety of flavors. I merely went for a double scoop of chocolate and found it to be ultra-rich in chocolate flavor and smooth to the taste.

Even though there are quite a few ice cream or frozen yogurt shops on the same street, I was mainly lured in by the architecture. I had been to a small museum up the street that had been added onto and they said Mr. G’s had the same original architecture from 1863. Plus it was a hot day, so I was needing some ice cream. The prices are very good for the amount of ice cream even in a small. I got the salted caramel. It was very creamy and flavorful. There was a bit of a line, which isn’t unexpected, but we were helped pretty quickly. It’s not a big space, but the employees were efficient. The indoor seating is also pretty small and the line got really long as we waited. I’m glad we came in earlier as that may have been a deterrent. Definitely good ice cream in a good environment.

Always a popular spot during tourist season, this is the best ice cream in town. I always try a different flavor each time and never lrave unsatisfied. My only quibble with the place is the rather cumbersome way the staff handles larger crowds.

Best ice cream in town. And tonight the had Gettysburg’s own two celloes playing, Jesse Hsu and Andrew Dalton. Great music and great ice cream! A little pricey, but the quality, service, and facilities are top knotch.

Homemade, which is always a plus. Great variety of flavor so, types of ice cream, floats and drinks. Games outside in the nice patio. History, house and neighborhood bump it up to an A-. Worth the trip.

Don’t want to say much about this place because there’s very little to say. The ice cream had a really good creamy texture, but was entirely tasteless. I messed up and ordered a scoop of Orange Pineapple on top of a scoop of Cookie Dough and was sad that the flavors would clash, but I didn’t need to worry. Couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Ended up throwing the second half of the cone away. It’s extremely popular with tourists, apparently, if the huge line was to be believed. Hopefully there’s somewhere else to get ice cream in Gettysburg.

Very thick, rich and creamy ice cream. I had the Butter Pecan and my wife had the Salted Caramel. The Butter Pecan was very buttery and loaded with full size Pecans. The Salted Caramel was loaded with Caramel. My wife loved it too. We both had them on waffle cones. The cones are so large, you’ll only need one scoop. They also Serve soft serve ice cream, flurries, etc… Don’t worry if the line is long. They’re very efficient on waiting on people. We were standing outside the door and got served within 15 minutes. Great place to stop, get an ice cream cone.

Don’t pass through Gettysburg without stopping at this quaint ice cream shop… unless you’re allergic to good ice cream. They have a nice selection of homemade ice cream plus a soft serve machine. Everyone working there was very friendly and didn’t act put out when we starting taste testing everything.

Very creamy, delicious ice cream. Staff was very friendly, and let us sample anything we wanted(the other store in town only allowed one sample). It was quiet the afternoon we want, but passing by one evening it was packed! Tried playing the ring toss game, but could never figure that out. We had: mint chip, chocolate, salted caramel(great), and black raspberry. If you love ice cream, this is the place for you!

We went here after eating a light lunch for some homemade ice cream very close to downtown Gettysburg. They offer around 10 flavors of ice cream as well as floats, sundaes, flurries, milkshakes, etc. Many of the flavors were tempting and the price was cheap with fast service. The homemade ice cream was rich and creamy. I’d recommend taking a walk here after lunch if you are in the mood for some dessert to cool down. You can’t ask for much more from a small, quaint ice cream parlor in the heart of a historic town.

One day God said«let there be ice cream» God then ask himself«who should I bestow with the best» and he though of Mr. G. If I lived in Gettysburg I would weigh 1000lbs and this ice cream would be the reason why. I am generally not a fan of salted caramel but this was, for lack of a better word, perfect. It is a nice place with a neat little swinging hook ring game outside. If you are visiting this town or live in this town go here and go a lot. It is perfection.

We make a trip out to Gettysburg at least five times a year, and we make a point to come to Mr. G’s for ice cream every time! One of our favorite cool little places in one of our favorite towns. Awesome homemade ice cream and friendly staff, can’t wait for it to be warmer out to visit again!

Overview: Truly delicious homemade ice-cream and cones! Food: The ice-cream is rich and creamy, with plenty of stuff mixed in! Even though I’m lactose-intolerant, I will occasionally make myself sick by having a scoop because it really is just that good. Recommend: The black raspberry and any of the coffee/mocha flavors are phenomenal. Atmosphere: During the Summer, it’s absolutely crazy. The line is almost always out the door, but you can usually find a place to sit somewhere outside on a bench. There are also little games to play outside. Service: Despite being insanely busy most of the time, the staff have always been pleasant and moved as quickly as possible to keep the line going.

I want to give this a crazy amazing review since so many people were in love with their ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good ice cream, I am just from a super foodie city where there’s a lot of great homemade ice cream and gelato. It just wasn’t panty dropping good. I had butter pecan which is always a winner and it was pretty tasty. If you are in town I recommend it. PS: we went on a ghost tour and this building was covered on the tour. People in our group got a full body apparition shot. Very cool

I am so used to baskin robbins that of course Ben and Jerrys was the best thing to ever happened to my bodega(and my life!) in Ridgewood New York when I was a kid. I of course had the best italian ices in town so the balance of life definitely equaled out. Long story short, I don’t know if I’ve just been so used to mediocre ice cream that this place knocked my socks off or this is legit as MC Hammer whose too legit too quit good. But I’m rating this 5 stars and I’m testifiyin’ that any NYC’er will be impressed. ALSO! Make sure to check out the gift shop in the back to view the slice of tree with a bullet from the civil war. I was fully expecting to walk into a backyard and see a standing tree so don’t be fooled by other reviewers it’s a slice of a tree stump placed nicely on a table with great lighting set right in the middle of the shop for your viewing pleasure. The tables in the ice cream shop are also made from the same tree.

About a 2.5: My husband and I checked out Mr. G’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream when we were in town. The place itself had a very old-fashioned and a rustic feel to it, located in the historic Twin Sycamore house. They offer homemade ice cream, shakes, softserve, and sundaes. I had a cup of their toffee, caramel, and fudge ice cream — the ice cream itself tasted a little unfresh, as it did not have a smooth consistency. I did appreciate the little fudge pockets throughout, though, but I just wished it was more creamier. Service was slightly awkward, but friendly. +not-so-fresh ice cream T___T
