This is the newest county liquor store in Montgomery County — which has a total monopoly over liquor sales in the county, but makes up the relative scarcity of stores by having rock bottom pricing on virtually every item. I suspect every store owner gets to largely pick their own inventory, and there are wide variances between each store. This one has a solid cordials section, moderately strong bourbon and Scotch sections, decent gin and vodka offerings, and what seems to be a wide choice of wines. They almost never have the classic liquor store«gift sets» that the other stores have — buy a bottle and get a flask, or two free glasses, or a carafe, etc. The Goshen store tends to have all of those. The one MAJOR downside to this location — it’s a complete cell phone dead zone. If you drop in and try to call a friend to ask what you should bring tonight, you’re out of luck. If you want to price compare on your smart phone, no dice. If you even want to research a new brand, you have to walk well into the parking lot. The prices are, compared to DC or VA, excellent. A single malt scotch that sells for $ 70 in DC will be $ 45 here, and so on. Recommended if you’re in the area.

5 stars = this place is HUGE! Tons of selection for beer, wine, AND liquor. You’re sure to find what you need here plus there’s plenty of gift options too if you’re headed to a dinner party. When I looked around, there were a lot of promotions going on too — you can also check the county website for monthly specials. 1 star = OK, look — I know I look like I’m barely old enough to watch a PG-13 movie by myself, but there’s no need to check my legitimate 21+ Maryland ID3 times in the span of 15 minutes… and then continue to make jokes about it. I have just as much of a right to be in this store as every other 21+ so I could do without the remarks that you«didn’t want to waste time with an under-21». I appreciate their respect for the law but I also would not like to be interrogated every time I come here. Yeesh.

Not sure that I have a choice but to be a fan of Montgomery County Liquor Stores because there aren’t any competitors in MoCo *shrugs* But I do welcome this new location, though its surprisingly close to the Neelsville location. They have a large variety of beer, wine and liquors and there are always sales and gift sets. I love gift sets — I mean why not get a nice set of glasses to sip my martinis??? The store is clean, the clerks are always friendly and the lines are always short. I’m sure this will take some of the pressure off of the Neelsville location. You can tell that they are still mapping out the store — the set up is similar to the new Burtonsville location. The layout may take some getting used to but I’m a fan.

This whole shopping center is relatively new(around 5 or so months old), so the store slots have been filling up lately. One of which is by this Montgomery County Wine and Liquor store. There’s another near the Giant on Frederick Road near Ridge Road, but this one is MUCH larger. I always like to explore new restaurants and liquor stores, and this one definitely satisfied my curiousity. They have a huge selection of whiskey, vodka, wines, etc. The county controls the prices so you won’t see much variation between these stores, but since this store is so much larger there’s more variety of alcohol. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I saw two of them running around the store, deliberately trying to help people with any questions they had about drinks. Good for people(like me!) who don’t know too much about wines and the like.
