Nope. Not good. Slide on by. First. If you sharpie out items on your menu I lose a ton of respect for you right off the bat. If you add the fact that it was an offering included in the lunch combo to begin with, and you can still see it online, not to mention through the sharpie mark on the printed menu. Boo… There were several things marked out on the menu. The service was great. They filled my water glass 26 times. I appreciate that. Thanks ladies. All smiles and they pulled the deuces for the place. Hot and sour soup was bad. It was also in a 4 oz cup. I’ve never been served a portion this small. It was poorly prepared any way you put it. Bad. Tasted sour… Wait, Am I wrong all along? Anyway, I thought it was the worst I’ve had. The«crispy things» were even soggy and without any crispness. Fail for my baseline of «Asian» food Chicken was factory created with factory breading. I didn’t care for the sauce. I suspect it was not made in store. I could be wrong and it’s totally chef driven. Wanna bet? Rice… It was rice, is it always supposed to be in a sticky ball? If so, they nailed it. I opted for steamed and I may have messed that up. I should have chosen the fried rice I suppose. I’m struggling for new, good«white boy Chinese». I think I’ll double back to the favs for a while and stop exploring. Stick with what you know on this one. Oh yeah, I didn’t get a fortune cookie. What’s up with that. I’m still adding you to the list, I know you have them.

Delicious food. First time here. And loved it. Had the tofu red curry and Kung pao tofu. The quantity size was good. And super fast service.

Wife and I along with two friends ate here last night. The food was great all around. I had the«Devil’s nest» soup, wife had the phở. Also tried the Singapore fried rice and some edemame. Delicious. Devil’s nest was crazy spicy(very happy about that). Wife said it was the best phở she’s had since moving down here. The reason I only gave 3 stars is due to a common problem I seem to be running into down here in Tennessee, a total lack of Asian cocktails. It’s borderline infuriating as a good mai-tai is 50% of the reason we go out for Asian food. This place has a bar but they only have a half dozen beers in their cooler. No liquor, no wine. Can someone explain this lunacy?!! The lady that waited on us did say it was OK to bring wine. Next time I’m bringing a pitcher of mai-tais with me. We’ll see how that flies. Anyway, we will definitely return for the great food. If they’re OK with me bringing a jug full of liquor next time, I’ll return and change my rating to four stars.

This is one of our most favorite places to eat. They make everything fresh!!! Soups are amazing. I don’t know of another place in town that can come close. Lettuce wraps are very good. Lunch specials are my usual. Really I haven’t had anything I didn’t really like.

We ordered Beef Singapore noodles, Tom Thai Kha Kai, and the steamed wontons. All of it was super fresh and super delicious. The noodles weren’t drowning in sauce, or greasy, and the beef was tender. The veggies in the soup were crisp and fresh. The food came out quickly and without mistake. Restaurant was clean and servers were friendly. I’d seriously drive from midtown to eat here. So good. The Tom Yum is also delicious.

Very fresh ingredients and super clean and friendly. Nice change from the buffet fad in Memphis. This food is crafted and presented very well. We will most certainly be back and will bring friends.

Have eaten here several times over several months. Food is expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. Very flavorful-at any intensity level you select. Great service. Do not have full bar so BYOB.

Killer soups… I had the big bowl of won ton soup, and the dumplings inside were perfect– terrific broth and cabbage. I especially like the plate with sprouts, lime slices, and jalapeño peppers. It was nice being able to add that to the soup. Also had the crab rangoon, and I could tell they were freshly made by hand– nothing frozen. Terrific place. It’s amazing how filling a bowl of soup is!

Prob some of the best eats in the area. Love the to Pad Thai and Coconut Prawns. I’ve been several times and have yet to find anything I don’t like. Ingredients are fresh and with the update to the restaurant, we enjoy dining here!

The fried wontons are the best I’ve had. Not too greasy and not overdoing the filling. The Devil’s Nest was a bit of a disappointment. The soup was great and there were plenty of vegetables, but the noodles were bare. The chicken dumplings are the ones you can buy frozen. I was expecting more from this dish. The prices also appear to be fairly higher than what’s on Unilocal. It’s just overall pricey for the amount of food you’re getting. I was told the prices went up, but the quantity seemed to either stay the same or been decreased. Not entirely sure.

Slow service tonight. We waited for 15 minutes to order. The hostess is kind of useless and needs to speak better English.

Honestly it was just OK. I asked the server for her suggestion of the lunch menu and she said the Yellow curry, so that’s what I went with. It came with white rice and an egg roll. The curry had a lot of onions and potatoes that were still hard, and the sauce did not have any sweetness to it. I dumped a lot of the duck sauce and some salt in to make it taste better. I asked if they had a dessert menu, the answer was no. I was disappointed. I wanted another drink and some more water, but the server disappeared and didn’t come back for a while. Next thing I know, they were all sitting at a table in the back eating lunch. No wonder nobody came back. Good points: I ordered a Thai Tea, that was good. The lunch specials were a decent price(however quite limited). I brought my laptop because I needed to work, and when I asked if they had internet, they gave me the code so I could use the wireless. Other people like this place, so I gave it a 3 instead of a 2 — hey, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or went on an off day. But with tasty sushi at Sakura next door, I will likely end up there instead next time I’m in the area.

I love this place. After going here on a whim three years ago, I must say that this is my favorite Asian restaurant. I always order the Tom Yum soup when I come here, as I like to eat here when it’s cold outside. Not only is the soup warning to a cold body, it’s absolutely delicious with the right amount of heat for me. Asian Eatery is an any time restaurant for me; I’ve celebrated two anniversaries with my fiancé here, and plan on going back for my birthday. The service here is nice. I’ve never had a problem with them getting my food wrong, whether I’ve eaten in the restaurant or gotten take out. The restaurant is clean for the most part. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a good fusion restaurant with delicious food.

Finally! A good bowl of phở in a restaurant that looks clean and not like a flea market! Not the most authentic but definitely delicious. I like the menu selection… a good mix of Thai, Vietnamese and traditional Chinese fare. Good service. Quick(at least for lunch). Reasonably priced. No complaints! I will be back!

Simply the best Asian food in Germantown. I’ve eaten here over 30 times and have never had a bad meal. The quiet and modern atmosphere is perfect for a nice night out. The summer rolls and curry are particularly good. The price is very reasonable for what you get. You can bring your own wine and they have no corking fee.

I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. The quality of ingredients are fresh and perfect. The tom yum is delicious and in general all the soups are wonderful. Also, get the salt and pepper calamari!

The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. The food tasted fresh. The prices seem like you’re getting a good deal when you look at the menu, but once it comes and when compared to other Chinese style restaurants it’s not really. When you order an entrée, you get the dish + white rice. That is it. You cannot substitute fried rice for white rice. You do not get any crunchy appetizer things with mustard dip. There are not any kids meals. There are not any options to add soup or small appetizers to your meal as in «Specials» that I see other places. It seems like it would be good for lunch, but when I left after dinner I was still hungry. For two dinners, one appetizer(for my child) and three drinks it was approx $ 34. A little much for what we received IMO.

My first time here and I was really expecting more. The place is a small but nicely decorated restaurant. I started with the hot and sour soup which was quite tasty and served with fried wantons. Being a real fan of potstickers, I ordered the appetizer(5 pcs.). Instead of pan steamed and then seared they were deep fried, yuk! My entrée, chicken pad Thai tasted like a Chinese version of this Thai staple, bla! Service was prompt and friendly. The lunch specials are only $ 6.99 and come with soup or salad. There are quite a few choices. For this reason, I’m going to give them another try. They are right next to the West St. Diner and share the same parking lot so parking is a problem.

This Devil’s Nest is the perfect heat and flavor combo. Pushes the envelope with heat but doesn’t overpower the wonderful flavor of this dish. #Love Can’t say enough about the freshness and the flavors of the Devil’s Nest dish. Can’t wait to get back and try something different!

Went there on a first date last Friday. He tried the safe route, and suggested Chili’s for dinner. Heck, no! I countered with Tao Too after doing a quick search of restaurants that were near that Chili’s. I’m an Asian junkie, so this place seemed like a good bet. Happily, he acquiesced. Having read the reviews, I suggested we start with the tofu. I also wanted to try the Devil’s soup, but, despite my love of heat, I was a little nervous after hearing about how hot it was. We decided to share it, and he chose the spicy garlic shrimp to share as well. OK, the tofu… YUM. So crisp, so creamy… it was like Asian fried cheese sticks! :) Be sure to pile on the peppers under the tofu. They really add some good flavor! The soup… Seriously, people? Three fire symbols? The hottest thing you’ve put in your mouth? Really? I liked it — a lot! — but it wasn’t NEARLY as hot as I expected, based on these reviews. It did give my lips a nice tingle, but next time I’m going to ask for EXTRA devilish! The garlic shrimp… just ok. It helped after I asked the waiter for hot chili paste, and added a generous spoonful, but the flavor just wasn’t there. That might just be me, though — my date liked it a lot. So…why only 4 stars, when I liked everything so much? FORTY-FIVEMINUTES. That’s how long we waited before our appetizer came out. Normally, that would totally ruin the meal for me, if I stuck around long enough to eat! But… it was a first date. And he was great company. We were so busy talking the wait didn’t seem that bad. I would still expect that they’d offer a discount, a free appetizer… ANY small gesture to show they care about their customers. Nope — nothing. Anyway, I’d still go back(though if I found myself waiting after 15 or 20 minutes I’d go seek out a manager). Next time I’ll get the tofu(of course) and the devil’s soup — extra veg, add shrimp, and EXTRASPICY. And forget sharing! :)

Tao Too is located in a busy strip center in Germantown with limited parking. Be prepared to fight for a spot in the lot if you visit during peak hours. I brought my mother here last week for lunch. Upon first walking in I was surprised at how small the restaurant was on the inside. There are maybe ten tables and most of them were occupied when we arrived even though it was 1pm in the afternoon. We were seated by a very nice gentleman who quickly brought menus and took our drink order. The majority of the menu is a collection of popular Chinese dishes but they also offer a few things that you might find at a Thai or Vietnamese restaurant. Neither of us were very hungry so we decided to order four appetizers to share. We picked the Crab Wontons, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Coconut Prawns, and Chicken Satay. The Coconut Prawns came out first. They were hot and crispy and served with a sweet sauce for dipping. Next, the spring rolls arrived served with the very same sauce for dipping. Then came the Crab Wontons and the Chicken Satay. The sauce served with the wontons was also sweet but different than the other sauce. I thought I tasted mango and ginger which made it pretty enjoyable. The Chicken Satay looked better than it tasted. The meat was a little dry but the peanut sauce was decent. All in all our visit was not a bad experience. Not particularly exciting or remarkable, but not bad either. I may update this review once I have the chance to try one of their entrees but for now it’s A-OK.

Let me start by saying that I know my fried tofu as a southern gal knows her fried chicken. When I first moved to Memphis, I came across Blake P’s review and was somewhat skeptical about his high opinion of the fried tofu. But he was right. So I was busy exploring the city and did not make it back here for months. It would not surprise me if the fried tofu was removed from the menu due to low popularity(come on, how many of you would think about ordering tofu if you are not a vegetarian). But I was wrong. Panko(Japanese-style breadcrumb) gives these deep fried tofu cubes a thin, light and crunchy crust, a great contrast in texture to the soft creaminess on the inside. In addition to the ginger soy dipping sauce, we also got some house chili paste to give it a kick. A great way to start your meal. To put it this way, if you must have fried food, how about something containing zero cholesterol, few carbs and minimal saturated fat? Armed with two heat-resistant friends, I felt confident enough to tackle the Devil’s Nest Soup. It was a sweet spicy bowl of goodness with dumplings and noodles. Though not the fieriest soup I’ve ever had, I would suggest that you proceed with caution, and share with someone to avoid regret and carb overload. We also tried the(not-so) Spicy Garlic Shrimp and Pannang Beef. I would not classify either one as authentic anything, as I consider this establishment a true Asian fusion restaurant(simply lumping together exotic items on the menu with no sign of real understanding doesn’t count). They were still a bit on the sweet side for me, but not as cloyingly so as many Americanized Asian fares have become. What’s important to me is that the clean-tasting food here is prepared with care. It’s also worth noting that restraint was exercised against liberal use of cooking oil, which is not always easy when cooking in a wok. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and though they were experiencing a small dinner rush last night, our service did not suffer.
