I wasn’t overly impressed by the staff of Eastgate, but they were nice in our time of need. They were very upfront about their pricing structure and did everything we needed them to do.

I am writing this negative review of this funeral home with the hope that another family will never have to go through what my wife and I went through. My wife and I made arrangements to have our stillborn twin boys cremated. The funeral director assured us we would be kept informed of each phase of the cremation process. That never happened! My wife was constantly calling to get status. We were also never told that our boys had been cremated until my wife called the funeral home 6 days after the fact! After the phone call, my wife went to the funeral home to pick up the cremated remains of our twin boys. The dimwit of an admin assistant almost gave my wife the wrong SINGLE urn! The funeral director that was in the admin assistant’s office prevented her from doing so. My wife was given two wooden urns by the clueless admin assistant, which our contract with the funeral home never specified! However, our boys’ remains were in these urns. That same funeral director never bothered introducing himself to my wife. He never assumed ownership of the mix up. He did not even make sure my wife signed for the remains she was picking up! The admin assistant dropped the ball, again, and failed to have my wife sign! The following day, our funeral director called my wife asking her to bring back the urns because they were purchased by and belonged to another family! He proceeded to tell her that if we intended to keep these urns, it would cost us $ 200 for the two wooden urns! My wife was quite distraught and pissed off at this point. She decided to call the crematory and confirm that the remains were indeed those of our twins. She obtained confirmation only after having OPENEDTHEURNS and read off the identifying tags that were assigned to each of the boys. The funeral director called my wife back and said«never mind,» and took back what he previously told her! Nice! As a result of this«Comedy of Errors», I filed a complaint with the Texas Funeral Services Commission. It is still pending at the moment. I will also call the Better Business Bureau. FYI: This funeral home is owned and operated by Charles Smith & Sons, Inc. Stay away from any of its affiliated funeral homes! And please pass on this information. Thank you.

UNBELIEVABLE… ITUSEDTOBE A REDLOBSTER! You can totally tell when you drive up. I used to eat fish there with my parents before it became a funeral home. Not a bad place. Inside you can’t really tell… well, excpet that I keep asking for more galic butter rolls everytime someone who works there asks me if there’s anything they can do. I’ve been to two memorials there and they were both just fine. But I can’t help wonder what funeral director looks at a Red Lobster and goes, «PERFECT! That’s where we can put the casket. That’s where we will put the family seating. We can have a pulpit over here.» I think it’s fairly inexpensvie in the grand scheme of funerals. I won’t have mine there unless they can put me on the salad bar with a lobster bib on, and reopen the bar.
