It looks like they are out of business! What a shame. I quickly called there sister restaurant in redondo beach. And they confirmed that the closed the western location. So off I go to Redondo Beach.

I am very sad that it seems that Miyoda has closed down. We went last Tuesday and it was not opened. No notice or anything on the door. I drove past it one week later past noon and it was still closed. There is no car in the parking lot. I have called the number but it is out of service. Very sad to lose another great place for lunch. I will miss their spicy hand-made noodles!

I am really shocked from reading the reviews, I came on Unilocal because we are going there for dinner tonight and I couldn’t remember the name. It blew my mind on how many people disliked the food. I rarely eat at restaurants and hardly is ever in Gardena except when visiting my parents. My husband recommended this place to me 6 months ago when he found it and just raved about it, so much he was eating there 3 times a week since he only works 2 minutes away. So I had to take my parents and my dad who is SUPERPICKY and DOESNT like anything and I mean it, he usually says after he eats how much he hated his meal. Not here, my dad and I ordered the Veggie Noodle and it was delicious. He raved at the table about how good it is and he would bring my mom here regularly. My daughter gets a variety of different things when we go and it never disappoints. My mom loves the spicy ramen, she in facts says it’s too mild for her so she always ask for more chili oil. Maybe its a different cook but when we go, it’s usually the same man cooking and everything is delicious. I feel sad for the ones who got a bad meal because this place is actually really good.

I came here since a restaurant I came for nearby was closed on Sunday. Unlike some of the negative reviews, I was rather surprised by the authenticity of the Tantan Mein. It is spicy but not über-rich, just as it should be. I personally prefer the Japanese-Americanized versions which are very rich(basically a spiced up fatty tonkotsu ramen) and with Americanized-portion of noodles, but my wife enjoyed the authentic taste she had only had in Japan and Taiwan. They import the spices for their tantan mein from Taiwan. Highlights include: Authentic Tantan Mein with really tasty hand-made noodles Most excellent home-made gyoza One of the best fried rice around Cream Croquette rich with creamy filling flowing like lava(some may prefer firmer texture) Low price for top quality food Lowlights: Water served in cheap plastic cups(tap water) Hot sake coming out lukewarm. Japanese-sized(small) amount of noodles in the tantan-mein I would come here again and would love to try out their other menu items next time. My wife says she’s getting tantan mein again, but I’ll go for their other dishes.

I frequent here for their Tantanmen. The texture of the noodles and the spicy tanginess of the broth is just right. Add a side ½ chahan(fried rice) and be satisfied going home with a full stomach. Lunch hours can get crazy with only one server, but it’s worth the trip!

I’m early for lunch to get tan-tan original houseramen. Fresh noodles cooked perfectly broth a specialty you can tell it takes years to perfect. Add leaky egg and I am in noodle bliss

I’m pretty much addicted to their vegetable ramen. Love the large portion size :) My entire tribe likes to come here, its casual and good for kids, too.

Not a big fan of Bistro Miyoda. Few things are okay here but rest of the items are bland or below average. Not somewhere I’ll visit unless I’m in the area and I have no other options.(i.e. I came here last Fri night because shinsengumi ramen was packeddd beyond waiting.) +I like their tofu skin bean sprout appetizer freebie they give out. +Dumplings are good but not the best. +Also like the shrimp and egg with sweet sauce. +The Japanese speaking Korean waitress is super nice and sweet. –Did not like their pork ginger. Pork was tough and the sauce was okay. –Their croquette was okay not something I would order again. –My mom said their ramen sucks so I didn’t even try –Water tasted unfiltered. –I was sitting at the table by the wall and saw ants marching along the wall. Yuck.

We went around 6:30 on a weekday. No one was in there. I’ve heard it’s pretty bumping during lunch, though. They have giant beers and giant servings of ramen so be ready for that. I was and i enjoyed myself. The waiter/owner(possibly…) was very sweet and nice and explained the menu to us and was always there when we needed here and not there when we didn’t. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen… I think… It was good! I couldn’t finish it all because of the giant draft beer i had and the crab croquette appetizer, both delicious. Price wasn’t bad and service was great! Wonder if they can keep it up during a busy lunch rush?

We didn’t order the noodles. I was somewhat concerned with some of the low ratings on this place, but it seemed that the more recent ratings were higher, and the lower ratings were more about the noodles. I didn’t know there were lots of non-noodle items on the menu so we decided to try a few things. I really liked the tofu skin/bean sprout amuse-bouche they put on the table. I wanted to ask for another one, but since it was free, I didn’t think it would be appropriate for me to ask for more. The chicken fried rice and the gyoza tasted very delicious but both were a bit more greasy than I like. I don’t think JAS cared for his Beef, Nappa and Harusame stew because he left most of it behind. I had a tiny taste of it — it wasn’t bad, but I think you just have to be in the right mood for beef stew to enjoy it. The fried pork meatballs were tasty. JAS liked the slaw on the side with a dressing that tasted a little like thousand island. The Sweet & Sour Pork was okay. It was a little too sweet for me so I didn’t finish it. I found the service to be attentive and pleasant. There was one server and she was very, very nice. The chef in the back waved at us as we were leaving. I’d like to go back soon to try other things on the menu… including the noodles!

Came here for dinner the other evening. Parked infront of the restaurant. This place is hidden in a shopping mall that is also hidden away in the Gardena area. You’ll have to drive down Western south of the Honda dealer. The place was not crowded but we don’t care. The place looked cleaned. Ramen is good. Plenty of bean sprouts in my noodle just to my liking. As for green onions, too much, but not a problem. I just scooped those yukkie green onion out of my noodle soup. My green tea was hot as it should be. Our Gyoza order had 5pcs. The dipping sauce was a bit spicy for me but the gyoza itself was ok. 5pcs for 2 people. It is unfair that one of us had an extra gyoza and it wasn’t me. My honey had something spicy. He agreed that it was spicy. Well he asked for it. Service was good.

I am really confused by the reviews of this place. The food here is fantastic. Hand cut noodles, great flavors, and the seafood rice is epic. I highly recommend this place.

I, too, am confused at the varying degree of reviews and stars given for this place. It most definitely must be timing and whose in the kitchen. Gomoku is one of my faves, so that was where it was at for me on this VERY chilly-waiting-for-hail-i-just-worked-10-hours-doing-bodywork-and-need-a-hot-steaming-bowl-of-noodles kinda night. I agree with other reviews — its kinda salty, but oh so flavorful that i wanted to swim in it, kinda thick, kinda oily –which is ok with me as it was part of what made it so flavorful. Spotted some broccoli which was new to me, but, oh well… gotta get the veggies in me somehow. Not nearly enough seafood & meat as I’m used to either and lots of cabbage… great! more veggies ;). The noodles where pretty good, but it didn’t stand out to me, like it should. I like mine silky and with a little chew in it. I added an egg which was done to perfection just the way I like it… hard boiled in the broth with runny yolk. mmmmmmmmmm ps.hubby said the broth reminded him of the bone marrow broth my dads restaurant staff would make as part of our after shift meals, delish! Tan Tan Men for the Hubby because we’re both having withdrawals since Chin-Ma-Ya is gone. He’s been google-ing for good TTM in our area. hence, we’re here. It was pretty good… close to what we wanted. Broth was not as creamy as CMY, kinda thinner. With lots of flavor but on the sweet side. hhhmmmm, the sesame didn’t seem creamed enough… kinda gritty, but hubby liked it just fine –the ground pork was quite yummy, it wasn’t too sweet or salty, but a great melody of both. Hit the spot and satisfying… still leaves us with a little jonez, though. just a little. I say us because I was slurping from his bowl as he was from mine. We also ordered a few appetizers: yes. we were hungrayyyyyyy! Gyoza(5pc) — soggy outside but flavorful on the inside, maybe just a couple more minutes in the pan would’ve been good Croquettes(2pc) — per the hubby as he walked by while Im typing my review… «they were gigantic, plentiful and delicious», I agree, they were tastier then usual croquettes, crunchy outer layer and soft in the middle. Shrimp w/House Mayo(6pcs) — spicy sauce with lightly fried tender shrimp, these were delicious, too. Croquettes and Shrimp came with fresh shredded cabbage salad and dressing — I really like that stuff. Over all we enjoyed our meal. No complaints. Hearty, hot & satisfying. Service was great borderline overbearing but better than not, right? The price is right, the gomoku was the most expensive @ $ 9.50 because I added an egg. Tan Tan Men $ 7.50 all appetizers $ 5 or less. We are now at home rubbing our bellies like buddha for good luck and making wishes.

After a 6 year hiatus, I finally made it back. This pace use to be a regular on my lunch rotation until I took a job outside of the South Bay. Now, that I am back back working in the area, I am looking forward to revisiting some of my old haunts. I went with the chicken cutlet curry on a heaping mound of rice. Man, even though it was almost 90 degrees out, the curry hit the spot. Be careful though, this meal has enough power to cause you to pull a Costanza and take a nap under your desk for the afternoon…

I’m surprised by how inconsistent Miyoda is… I personally enjoyed the hand-made noodles, al dente! I read most of the reviewers who gave 1 or 2 stars… and all I got to say is if you rate 1 or 2 stars for basic shoyu ramen… you mind as well go to Marukai and buy the damn ramen package and eat it at home. I had the Tan-Tan ramen, which was pretty good although there were way too much sesame seeds in my opinion. Chinese Beef Noodle, you must get this SPICY! The broth is probably better than most of the Chinese restaurants in Monterey Park area.

Lowering my score. I come here at least once a week for my Gomoku Ramen fix. But things have changed and I have to lower my score. 1. I’ve noticed noodles are thinner and less chewy. They also seem to be less generous with the amount of noodle in the soup. I guess they had a choice of raising prices or cutting down on the portion. They decided to go with cutting down on the portion. 2. There’s a new Japanese guy in the kitchen. I don’t know if he’s cooking my gomoku ramen but gomoku topping isn’t cooked right anymore. Overcooked and soggy veggies. The owner who is still there does it 10 times better. 3. Fried rice is good but wow, too damn salty.

The interior of this place is clean and inviting. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. They seemed to want ensure that your visit was a pleasant one. I got the ground pork noodle soup entrée. It tasted decent, but I was still hungry when I left. Being hungry after just eating a meal is usually attributed to eating a healthy meal or a meal with smaller portions. I’ll verge more on the side that the portions were a little small. This place is just alright. Unless I’m in the area, I’ll probably wouldn’t come again. Overall, nothing spectacular here… just an average lunch place for noodles.

Wow, some of these reviews are rather harsh. but I’m going to have to go against the grain and give this place a 3.5 star(rounded down to 3). This place isn’t all that bad, service is great, the prices are low(5.99 for a ramen bowl w/a… amuse bouche’ish food item) and OK food. I ordered the Mapo Ramen bowl and it was fine, the soup broth was hearty with lots of ground beef and rather flavorful. The only gripe I’d have with this place is the extra side of deep fried pork loin wasn’t worth, it was thinly cut and rather dry. All in all i wouldn’t drive outta my way to eat here but it’s not a place I’d avoid.

The cold and rain releases soup noodle pheromones that drives me like an addict lookiing for the next fix. Even after getting high on Phở at lunch, I was already jonesing by night time… and what a cold and rainy night it was! Linda C. and I walked into Miyoda, an old school Japanese joint with tacky posters pushing their various specials … fried chicken was their special that night — this was validated by the server who suggested we order some for an appetizer. Fried Chicken? Can’t she see that I need me some Ramen! Bring me a bowl of Gomoku and while you are at it bring a bowl of Spicy Miso Ramen for my woman! The bowls of ramen were place in front of us without fanfare. I looked at my steaming bowl of noodles — it didn’t look like the picture on the wall, but then it never does… I took a spoonful of my Gomoku and anxiously expecting euphoria to set in but instead my Gomoku was like a hit from a J rolled with Oregano, where’s the buzz? The broth was thick and greasy and crammed with way too much cabbage. Yeah, cabbage! It was used as a filler in place of the seafood that showed in abundance in the picture. The broth was flavorful but unfortunately the wrong flavors. What’s left? Oh right the noodles. Ok the noodles were good. Bistro Miyoda claims homemade handmade noodles — it was the best thing about the whole mess! Next time? I wonder if they would just sell me some noodles?

My Personal Ramen Tour — Chapter 14 Yuko nailed it, this was the worst ramen I’ve ever had. It’s hard to describe just how bad it was, the textures and the flavors were all fighting to see who could be worse. My tan tan men was on the verge of being inedible. Had I been a bolder, less polite person, I would have had two sips and stopped right there. The soup base was so thick with sesame paste and garlic that each bite reminded me of taking medicine when I was a kid. The noodles were way over cooked like the mush at Olive Garden. The meat pile in the center of my bowl had such an off flavor that I had to mix it with the sesame sludge just to mute its stench. The girl’s bowl of veggie ramen was almost as bad. It was a box of leftover Chinese food dumped into a bowl of soggy noodles in a oddly thick clear broth. Only go here if you want to play a very cruel trick on someone.
