First time here tonight. Food was great(polenta with sausage was to die for!) and service was even better. We love you Nick! Thanks for making our night awesome.

Been here a few times and consistently great service, ample, easy parking, great selection of wine and craft beer and ah, the food! SO good, tried things I never have and will definitely be back… love finding new favorite spots in South Bay! Such a great spot… bar connected to restaurant so best of both worlds!

According to my Japanese friend who brought me here, it’s one of the best in the South Bay. I am not a food and only eat to survive, so I couldn’t tell the difference, however, the presentation of the food was fun and a couple of the dishes you actually cook yourself on your table. The place is a bit small for a big group, but if you are four or less people, I would highly recommend it. Bring lots of money cuz this place ain’t cheap.

This has to be one, if not the one, BEST Japanese Restaurant I’ve ever eaten at: WOW! The food was fresh, quick and well priced! We had the Chicken with Onion, the Gizzards, the Minced Chicken, the Tofu with Cheese filling, Tofu with Nattō filling AND… the most AMAZING Pork-Belly skewers ever! I HIGHLY recommend Shu Bar! They are not open on Mondays, and they are open for lunch until 2:00pm followed by a three-hour break. They open at 5:00pm!

Delicious food and drinks. Fun vibe for North Torrance and Gardena. Love stopping in here for a few drinks. The chorizo ramen was amazing.

My boyfriend and I love coming here for their broad range of food and drinks. They have ramen, yakitori skewers and artisan craft beers from the local breweries. Consider hosting parties here since the staff are the owners. Super nice and attentive, we love this place :-)

Cozy bar tucked away in a Gardena plaza. There’s a great selection of local beers and Japanese Shouchu. Pair them with yakitori, half bowls of ramen, and other izakaya dishes from next door. Keep the drinks flowing and don’t be afraid to talk to the workers. They’re super friendly!

This place randomly fuses so many different kinds of food into genius pleasure. The service was great and ready to answer any questions. It looks clean and attractive inside and the food was like flavor exploding in your mouth. Raw octopus with wasabi was risky but a success. Eat one piece at a time and you’ll enjoy all of the flavors. I literally died eating the chorizo ramen. Yes… I said chorizo ramen. The broth is gulp able and the meat it so juicy, the whole bowl is gone before you know it. I’m not big on alcohol and completely enjoyed my hot sake(suigei) and the plum wine tasted like luxurious plum juice. I also ordered the sauteed pork and kimchi was the perfect portion for the price!

They didn’t have a sign to show you which door to go through but i was told signage is on order. There’s a door to enter from outside but you can also enter through the restaurant, Shu-Chan. it’s connected. Shu-Bar though. it’s pretty cool. They have(craft) beer, wine, sochu cocktails. a self serve popcorn machine. food off the menu(Get the PLUMDIP!!). They have a couple TVs. Music that’s not on a blaring level. It’s just a nice place to have drinks. and/or eat.

This is the best bar in Gardena !! Open late, friendly service, great prices for drinks, good selection of draft beers and cocktails. We visited 5 other bars in the area before running across this hidden gem.

What isn’t there to like. They serve a variety of authentic ramen and amazing Yakitori from the restaurant. The bar is spacious and caters to your craft beer and shochu needs! Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is chill!

I was introduced to Shu-chan Restaurant/Izakaya by a Japanese/Mexican American friend who really digs the Mexican/Japanese section of the menu there. After we pigged out at Shu-, we just skipped right next door to Shu– Bar. It’s still in the stages of becoming fully open so that much of the drink menu is tentative & a bit experimental. Shu– Bar caters to the large Japanese American community in Gardena & Torrance so there is a greater emphasis on Sho-chu–(show chew) which is somewhat like a low alcohol Vodka in the range of approximately 22%-28%. There is the traditional Sake(sah keh) option. Also Japanese beer as well as local microbrew from Southern California which are not necessarily Japanese. The look of this bar is spartan w/interior design touches reminiscent of the 1980’s: geometric, use of chrome touches, & the ambiance here is quiet & laid back. I really appreciate that you can have a decent conversation here without the shouting, screeching, & yelling in so many eateries & bars now in the Los Angeles area. This makes Shu– Bar a great place to hang out with friends, have a drink, relax, and de-stress. However, we came here on a Monday night at 10:30pm so no guarantee of what the noise level will be like on a Friday or Saturday. You won’t get wild & exotic cocktails here such as Durian fruit infused yak milk & fire-ant butter over Peruvian purple corn Chicha flavoured, Brazilian Cacacha ice cubes. The bartender is friendly in a casual, neighborhood, young buck kind of demeanor. No hipster scene, no freaks, just locals who want to gather, relax, and shoot the breeze. I was suggested by kindly bar patrons at the bar to have Punk’n Harvest Pumpkin beer by Uinta Brewing Company when I hesitated on choosing something to drink. Only a faint trace of pumpkin sweetness. Punk’n was more like a slightly smokey, full blown heavier ale. Smooth, well rounded with a touch of treacle. My friend ordered Sho-chu– which came w/half an orange & a pristine white juicer. In this way you can adjust the amount of fresh squeezed orange juice to add into the Sho-chu-. Quite a nice touch to the Sho-chu– service. I will have to return when Shu– Bars becomes more settled from its soft opening to see it in its full stride. For now, 3+ Unilocal stars for a local bar that’s not into any kind of «hip scene» or pretentious attitude.

I’m so glad to write this review because i’ve been on a streak of writing bad reviews for nail salons. Having that said, i was there last Sunday for dinner, and I loved how cozy this place was! We sat in the bar section of the split restaurant, ate ramen, drank mugs and mugs of cold asahi, and watched Sunday football. I ordered the chorizo ramen, and i really enjoyed the fusion! I think it really sets them apart from other ramen restaurants in the 310 ;) Btw, there’s tv all around so it was perfect for my friends and me. My favorite part of this place was the service. They’re friendly and knowledgeable and not in your face kinda way. I definitely will be back to try out the other section of the restaurant to see if they offer something different. Note: there’s usually ample parking in the parking lot at night because it’s the only business that’s open late. You’re welcome ;)
