Really sad to hear this place has closed. I had the aged-cheddar bacon burger with dry-aged beef last year, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been looking forward all year to revisiting that experience when I return this month, only to find out it’s gone. So sad.

Such a shame this place is closed. I have come here a couple times and enjoyed the ambience, food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, I can’t really vouch for the Belgian beers as I don’t really drink or have much knowledge when it comes to alcohol but I enjoyed the concept and from what I observed, they served one or two hard to find beers. I did take one star off however, because it always seemed to take long to be served and it was always a bit of a task to get the attention of the staff so I could get my bill and pay. The staff members seemed to stay at the bar area and never really came around to check on you. Which isn’t so bad but when you need to leave by a certain time, it’s helpful to feel that they value your time as well. I will defintely miss this joint.

I came here a couple of months ago for okay pizza and okay beers. I don’t think I will be coming back not because of the food but because it’s closed down.

Michael and his wife and staff are great here. It’s small and there’s an outdoor patio area and its often busy here. So I won’t waste too much time on the review here but to say, the food and beer are excellent but they will be moving in a few weeks so this review might not hold. Enjoy the last week here while you can.

Stopped in for dinner one night. The owners are from Belgium and they offer a wide selection of Belgian inspired dishes. They also have an extensive selection of Belgian and U.S. Belgian style craft beers on draft and in bottles. I had the mussels, and while very tasty, they were steamed in wine, and most of the places I have been to in Belgium offer mussels in both wine and your selection of beer; and I prefer them steamed in beer. The frites were very good; not like you can get at the stands in Belgium, but still very good. A very good place to go for a filling meal and good conversation; the owners are very friendly :-)

I’m all about food. Now, I’m no «expert», especially if you’re asking the owner. who after hearing we came because of the POSSITIVE reviews, told us he hates Unilocal… something about people who don’t know how to crack an egg, telling a chef how to cook… but I like to think I know a thing or two… and this place disappointed on every level, except the dessert, and booze, naturally. Once again, I’m no expert, but I DO know how to crack an egg, so here we go: Chorizo«stuffed» Calamari was basically a bowl of marinara with a single crust of bread Balsamic dressing needed desperately to be cut with olive oil to get rid of some of the acidity and heaviness The sauce on the steak was too salty But the worst, by far, was the Spain«inspired» Paella. I couldn’t have been more unhappy. Saffron? What saffron? Mushy, yet overly al dente. You could easily call it a seafood risotto, and a poor one at that. Like I mentioned, you do have to give it to them for the dessert though. That chocolate mousse was devine; however, the combination of bad service equally bad and food only inspired this crappy review.

So rewind a few months. The husband’s friend convinces him to go to the Globe for a beer since they’re in the area. They drink some Belgian beer, which was life changing. After that, the husband comes home and says we’re taking a vacation to Belgium! Before going to Belgium we started doing research on Belgian beer. That research, of course, also included doing lots of drinking. The trip to Belgium was amazing and we drank A LOT! We LOVE the globe because they have so many great beers on tap and lots of options from the bottle. After our Belgium trip, we were missing really good beer so we came in and I was super excited that they had my favorite beer on tap(Grimbergen)! Come for the drinks. The food is just okay. We had the frites, which were fine but nothing great. Very similar to the frites we had in Belgium(meh). The owner is really cool. When we told him we had just come back from Belgium had chatted with us about where he and his family was from and how he gets all this amazing beer to the US. Things to note: They are closed on Sundays and holidays. They are only open in the evenings(no lunch beer). If you join their loyalty program, they give you a coupon for $ 15! Great deal! Come here. Have a life changing beer. Go to Belgium. Come back here. Thank me later.

I came here on a Tuesday night to celebrate my friend’s birthday. I’ve driven by here many times, usually to cut across Main Street to get to Costco and never paid attention to this gastropub. I checked out the Unilocal reviews beforehand, and many said the place was dead, but the food was great. The place had people when we got there, and Unilocalers were right, the food was very good. My girlfriends are open minded people and will eat practically anything, so we decided to get a ton of food and just share it family style. After ordering a round of drinks, we started– Round 1: Starters — Charcuterie Platter, lovely medley of meats, olives and peppers/pickles — Cheese board, a variety of cheese, honeycomb, infused fruit and nuts — Bavarian pretzel, hot, soft, buttery, with a mustard that is very intense, so dip lightly! Round 2: Entrees — Loaded Belgium fries — Stuffed Calamari — Coq au Vin — Paella del Mar — Moules Mariniere(Mussels) — Bone Marrow — Jamon y infused melon — Chicken Croquettes The best part of eating with a group family style is you get to try everything. I am not a fan of calamari, so I passed on that and the bone marrow. There was not enough croquettes to go around(5 pieces) so I let the others have it. They said it was spicy. — The loaded fries were good, but I expected more. I guess when I think«loaded» I think toppings piled high, and I guess for $ 8, I thought there would be more fries. — The Coq au Vin was good, but since so many Unilocalers were raving about it, I thought it fell short of being wowed. — The Paella was very good. Not overly salty like many seafood dishes can be, and there was ample seafood in the serving. Paella generally is not a cheap dish, but I wish there was a bigger serving. Its ample for one person to have for dinner, perhaps. — Mussels were excellent, full of broth that it begged for bread to dip. — Jamon was very good, and generous with the ham and fruit. I thought it was better than our Charcuterie Platter, as the fruit and jamon were balanced moreso than the«just meat» platter with olives and pickles. Round 3: Dessert How do you pick dessert with 7 women? Let the birthday girl(s) decide! They chose: — Tiramisu — Belgium chocolate mousse — Crème Brulee Every one of those desserts were amazing. Not overly sweet, and certainly added a nice touch to end our gluttonous evening. I added a cup of coffee to my meal, which I appreciate was nice, freshly brewed and strong. There’s nothing more disappointing to eat a nice meal and get a weak version of coffee to ruin it. Overall a great meal. The host /owner of the place was wonderful, and was able to help us determine a good Belgium beer or other drink to go with our food. Highly recommend this place, but not quite a 5 star review. They supposedly close late, but I heard from a patron that they can close early if business is slow, so if you’re thinking of a late night bite, call first.

I was surprised to see how much I liked this place. I don’t drink alcohol but their timmermans strawberry lambic really won me over. I’m not entirely sure if they serve this drink at other places but I would definitely recommend this drink especially considering I’m not a big drinker. The pizza here was decent I liked how fresh the green bell peppers tasted. They said it was thin crust but it wasn’t really. They offer other flavors of lambics so I’m looking forward to trying those soon.

I come here for the beers, the foods are an after thought. The service is great, well, for the few times I was there I was the only customer there, so I get all the attention. I believe the owner told me he’s from Belgium thus the Belgian beers, not sure though, I was already a bit tipsy.

Everything about this place is misleading. From the name, the exterior and even the dated, worn interior had me second guessing myself and my fellow Unilocalers. That being said, they have an excellent Belgium beer menu and food that was surprisingly good. I had the Coq au vin, which I would highly recommend. The hearty portion of chicken thighs, and root vegetables was delicious and surprisingly well prepared. Will return given the opportunity.

John our waiter not only was funny but knew exactly what beers to suggest. My two girlfriends and i have different taste in beers and we were satistied with all of our choices. First time trying the bone marrow and it was so delicious. Im so glad to find this location its a hidden gem. Im definitely working my way thru to try all the beers on their menu. Definite a place to bring those special people because the owners and waitress sure made our night special.

I would come back every time. The surroundings is very relaxing and casual. The beers and foods are a never disappointment. Customer service is number one from owners to chef to servers. I love how they are so courteous and welcoming every time I come. I recommend this to all my family and friends.

Although it’s a pub, I found it to be a really nice place to sit down and have dinner! Normally, I’d be upset when a restaurant runs out of something 5 hours before closing, but this is how the conversation with my server went: Me–«Would you recommend the Lamb Feta burger or the Beef Stroganoff?» Server–«Well, I would definitely recommend the Lamb Feta burger because we are out of the Beef Stroganoff tonight.» Sure, I set him up well, but I thought that was pretty funny. As for the food, I would highly recommend the skirt steak florets appetizer. If you enjoy beef and blue cheese, you can’t go wrong with this. I almost wish that was an entrée itself! In regards to the lamb feta burger, I usually get my burgers medium, but the lamb being more game-y probably should’ve been cooked more. This is at no fault to the restaurant. I just recommend that if you order this, maybe order the patty more well done than you usually prefer. The feta was also a really nice touch, but the chef was a bit heavy handed with the tziziki sauce. My bottom bread was so sopped in the sauce that it fell apart halfway through. Also, my boyfriend very much enjoyed his Goat Bacon burger. Overall, this is a really nice place to peacefully chat with someone over some food and drinks. I’d be interested in actually trying the beef stroganoff next time!

A friend of mine randomly found The Globe on Unilocal since we were looking for a casual place to get drinks and Garden Grove happened to be equal distance for both of us. Given that it’s located in GG, I thought it would be like a typical Asian drinking place, but boy was I wrong. It was a European gastropub, located on a small street with random shops and bars. Totally surprising since I’m so used to Korean and Vietnamese joints in this area. This was nothing like what you would expect in GG! It’s a super chill place. They’ve got an incredible beer selection(I’ve haven’t heard of half of them) that ranged from $ 6-$ 15. We followed Unilocalers’ recommendations and ordered the loaded Belgian frites($ 7.95), which was just fries covered in gorgonzola cheese and bacon bits. Pretty good, I would recommend them. We also ordered the calamari strips($ 9.95), which were just alright. The tzaziki sauce it came with was a interesting twist, but for the price, I’d probably pass next time. You only get about 9 strips anyways. Didn’t eat dinner there so I can’t comment on the rest of the menu. Overall, The Globe is a nice place to catch up with a friend since it doesn’t seem to get too busy(we went on a Friday night) and they have a good alcohol selection(beer plus regular bar). It’s a nice change from what I’m used to in GG, but I don’t see myself going back regularly. Parking is a little confusing. You can park on the street or in the areas between buildings.

Thank goodness The Globe exists in this ghost town! This area is known for«tourist trap» restaurants. We were going to see a dear friend, Cassandra«Elvira,» at Knott’s Scary Farm. As we love to support friends’ performances, looking for a place to eat nearby was worse than a going through a haunted corn maze. After much Unilocal searching, I stumbled upon this gem of a joint — The Globe, a «Modern European, Gastropubs, Belgian» joint. After driving for a freagin’ hour and a half in traffic, I showed up bitchy, starving, having to pee and skeptical. We were greeted by part owner /chef, and our server. He was a pleasant sweetheart of a guy. The bar was filled with seemingly adoring locals. We sat in the back corner in a comfy curved booth. My feet went up asap. Only Belgium beers here! I wasn’t getting my usual go-to IPAs. Our server geared us to great beers, bottled and on tap for the evening. All were delicious and complimented the food wonderfully. We started with the LIVERPATE —(HUGE portion) with light, airy, fresh bread –SO good. And… CHORIZOAMPANADAS — also a major hit with us. Flaky and light. It came with some sauce that it really didn’t need but complimented it perfectly when I did go for a dip. Things were looking up! And PS those beers were going down … and all are pretty much heavy hitters. Things were really looking up. Luckily, I wasn’t driving. Next ! — SKIRTSTEAKFLORETS Gorgonzola blue cheese, carmalized onions, red wine demi glaze. You. Don’t. Even. Know. The steak it self was fabulous but OH, that saussssse. I was glad there was still bread laying around to dip. Best I’ve ever had. Big decision — What will be our last savory dish. After weighing the options for 20 minutes(time to kill anyway) we went with *drumroll* … SAUERBRATENSPECIAL(and a house speciality) –Traditionally braised Riesling marinated sauerkraut with smoked pork loin, boneless ham hocks, topped with grilled bratwurst, steamed red potatoes and a selection of mustards. My 101-year-old aunt made something *similar* to this(but not as good.) I said this aloud to our server. I pictured Auntie rolling over in her grave.(Sorry Auntie Eva!) This was OUT of THIS world good. Each and every bite. We ordered fries with this which was totally unnecessarily. But I’m a glutton. And they were really good as well. No. Room. For. Dessert !! But here came the cutie-patootie server with a platter of yum-yums. I didn’t want to insult him or his family so I just had to choose sommmmmething. There were about 6 or 7 choices and they all looked house made and absolutely amazing. I feel like a jackass. My excuse: I was beer buzzed and high from food goodness. But I can’t remember what the hell it was called !! –A parfait? I took a beautiful picture of it though. It looks great and light but tasted even better. And surprise! There was a little crunch in there! Just a little. I loved it. As full as I was, it went down real easy. A beautiful ending to an incredible dining experience at The Globe. My one and only gripe– on my way to the restroom was brutal from the patio cigarette smokers. Shutting the door would be a great idea. If in this area, give The Globe a try. You will not be disappointed! Cheers!

I am so going back to The Globe! The owners are Belgium and they know their Belgium beers. The staff was super nice and attentive. Great menu selection there is so much I want to try. We ordered: Chorizo Empanadas –Puff pastry baked with Pamplona chorizo, chimmichuri. $ 8 They were flaky and warm, I wish there was a little bit more chorizo in them but great chimmichuri sauce. Belgian Frites –Hand-cut, double-fried crisp and golden, choice of two sauces. $ 5 The owner recommend the fries and she was totally right, awesome fries super crispy on the outside with a great spicy aioli. The Globe-Sausage, pepperoni, salami, mozzarella, jack and cheddar cheeses, bell peppers, red onions, black olives. $ 14 The pizza was good, they make their own dough there. It’s nice and crispy at the bottom. And of course I had to wash it all down with an Orval. :) Next time I want to try the duck or the Coq au Vin.
