I’ve always been a happy camper when it comes to Korean food. I haven’t really been dissatisfied before until now. I got the noodles with black bean sauce. I’m not quite sure on the exact name. There was absolutely no flavor at all. The sauce was very bland and there was almost no taste of black bean. I didn’t want to waste food but it was a struggle for me to finish it. I was also excited for the ban chan. It is always one of the highlights for me. I got my two least favorite. If you go here, I don’t recommend those noodles. I was unlucky in the flavor department. However, there are other dishes that look good here. Maybe give those a try. I on the other hand don’t think I’ll be coming back to try anything else.

The review is long overdue! I’ve been eating here for years. The food is delicious, very reasonably priced and the portions are large. The woman who owns the restaurant is very nice, always smiling. Very good customer service. I really like the environment, very laid back ‘comfort food’(I dislike using that term, but it really is very fulfilling food). You won’t be disappointed.

Great food! Love their spicy seafood noodle. The service is great too! Located inside of the H Mart food court! Huge portions and great price.

Called again… spoke super slow… Hi…she didn’t wait for me to finish she said a little bit more in english… This is Korean restaurant(I thought. yeah bit** that’s why I called) so I said… I am trying to come to eat I can’t find you… then she explained… I got there I told her… it’s me that called… she looked at me like… who was asking you… I’m waiting for my food but shit… what the fuck !

The black bean paste noodles were too sweet for my taste. I prefer young pung’s black bean paste noodles over this one.

Around 5:10pm 10÷6÷15. A stone in my teeth during the eating Bibimbab. Several months ago, when I was eating chicken tang, some kind of hard object inside foods, I don’t know what they put inside food, keep hurting my teeth.

I had kimchi fried rice here. To be honest, it is not badly seasoned, however the fried rice was a little bit salty. I used to have the exact same dish at a Korean family restaurant in DTLA and it tasted way better(with beef in the rice too, of course the price is slightly higher). Hope they could add a little sweetness to the dish because the kimchi and the rice are both very spicy and salty so it would be more balanced with one extra flavor.

Located in H Mart food court. Plenty parking in strip mall. Only tried the black bean noodles. The noodles seem to be handmade with a nice chewy texture w a black bean sauce that is sweeter than im uses to. Tastes like tomato sauce or like the chunks of asian pumpkin that is in the dish. Diced meat and slices of cucumber. Large portion w side of kimchee and pickled radish. After I ate this dish, I went and bought instant black bean noodle from H Mart to see if I can have it at home too but add my own topoings.

I found out they have a second restaurant next to arirang market! It seems better with the cleaner setting. And menu is a little different. Parkings kind of tricky because arirang is always packed. The banchan is way better too!

Whooo one of my go to spots for homestyle Korean food! Over the years, I’ve developed a penchant for Korean food, especially the homestyle dishes. Dae Jang Gum never disappoints whenever I get that craving. My favorite dishes are the bibimbap(get the hot stone if you’re going to dine at the food court!), donkatsu(pork cutlet), Korean maki(lightly marinated squid in hot sauce served with rice and nori), and jjajangmyeon(black bean noodles). All the portions are generous and can easily fill you up. They’re big enough to share if you’re not too hungry. There is not much variety with the side dishes, just the basics and a few seasonal variations, but you can always walk up to the counter and ask for a refill. If you’re looking to get takeout, you can call ahead and have your order ready when you arrive! They accept cash and credit cards.

I recently visited this little joint on my trip to California. It was nice to see there was a food court in the H-Mart; however, I was disappointed in the selections available. Most options at this particular window were in soup form with exception of a few non-soup dishes such as beef with mushroom, taeji bulgogi and a chicken dish. To be honest, I was hoping for either kalbi or regular bulgogi, but most of the Korean joints that offered bbq were sit down AYCE with a minimum of 2 folks. Obviously, me being in California as a lone ranger, I opted for this spot and ordered the pork. It was a single portion, but cost $ 15, which I thought was a tad steep considering the location and style of restaurant. It is set up in food court style with minimal tables. Not to mention, there are no drinks, simply a water cooler with tiny paper cups that literally held 2 gulps(a mouth rinsing cup). I don’t know about anyone else, but I drink a lot of water and would have appreciated a normal sized cup vs. refilling the tiny paper cup multiple times. I was really craving bori cha and my personal thought is that all Korean joints should offer it. Aside from that, the pork bulgogi was pretty good, though a bit on the greasy side. It had a good amount of spice and flavor. I was really disappointed in the banchan though. It was very little and not particularly good. I was given ggak dugi, mak kimchi and a type of pickled seaweed, not the usual doljaban muchim… it was more like bigger flaps of seaweed. Needless to say, the banchan wasn’t memorable and their version of doljaban muchim was not good at all. I am Asian myself, so I am quite discriminating regarding the taste of asian food, especially Korean and Thai dishes. I will give this place another shot the next time I’m in town. They had a kalbi tang that I may order next go around. The soups were more reasonably priced at around $ 7, so perhaps this little joint is best for those types of quick comfort food. I definitely would say this is more«to go» than«sit-in».

It is located inside of H-mart, so don’t be confused if you are unable to spot it from the outside. It is a food court set up and you order what you want and they bring it to you. The portions are generous for two people off of one dish. I went with a friend and we ordered the spicy rice cake and rice omelette. You get what you order and side dishes come with whatever you order. Both dishes were delicious and could be split for dinner if you are unable to finish it. Variety of dishes and I will be returning to explore for more.

Located in the H Mart food court all the way inside. It’s the last stall! No one was there when I came so food came out fast. Was debating between getting the Spicy Noodles or the Black Bean Noodles… I’ll be back for you though Black Bean Noodles! What I got: Spicy Noodles($ 7): never tried it before, but the picture makes it look delicious! It has no meat in there for all you meat lovers… just veggies like bean sprout, shredded cabbage, pickled radish, shredded carrots, and half an egg. It comes with 4 side dishes and soup too! So all of that for $ 7 is definitely a steal! The spicy noodles could definitely feed 2 people. It came in a big metal bottle so mix it up well. It wasn’t spicy to me though, but definitely delicious and had a chewy texture to it. As for the sides dishes, it came with kimchi, fish cakes, marinated shredded radish, and this apple salad. Fish cake and the apple salad thing was definitely the better tasting ones! Service: The lady who took my order didn’t seem to know the menu that well? Or maybe because I just said the number… but she was helpful and made sure I got everything I needed. They have a water dispenser right next to the counter. When you’re done with you food, just leave your dirty dishes there. I’ll be back!

I don’t know how this place gets more than two stars??? I ordered shrimp fried rice and dumpling soup and both were just really terrible… There was no taste in shrimp fried rice and the shrimps were all dark orange colored??? Dumpling soup smelled like an aged meat broth that my husband only picked out the dumplings and put the soup away… We won’t ever come here again…

(See pictures i upload of the sign vs actual dish) Short story: what you see is not what you get for the cold buckwheat noodle soup. No meat no pear. Never ordering it again.(Unless they do serve it normally and just ran out but decided to lie and say they don’t serve it as pictured) Rationale: 2 star for good variety and quality of free side dishes and not skimping even with only ordering one dish. I normally would add more stars for service and quality of food and price etc. But the dish I ordered(cold buckwheat noodle soup) didn’t come with any meat or pear. Two of my favorite parts of the dish. I asked the lady where the meat was and pointing at the picture. She said the dish doesn’t come with meat and said the picture is different. Not sure if that’s true or if they forgot or ran out. Either way I didn’t feel good about it. The price for the dish was still low it being a food court. So I give another star for price. I’m sure the other dishes are good after seeing the other reviews so I’ll come back. Just won’t ever get the cold buckwheat noodle soup again. That is all.

This place was amazing! We luckily saw this place when we checked out HMart and fell in love. We tried the kim chi fried rice, the seafood noodles, and spicy rice cake. It was oh so delicious! And the kim chi here(which we found out is house made) is to die for. I think the owner? I might be wrong was the person who took care of us most of the time and he was amazing(: Even though it was ‘fast food’ style, he came and chatted with us and recommend different items to try. We were so impressed with lunch that we came back for dinner before we left California to go back to Arizona. This time we ordered the maki, 2 orders of spicy pork, and the tonkatsu. And again everything was amazing!!! The maki was cold which we did not know but delicious regardless(I think our favorite dish of the night). Anyways, great food and great customer service is always a good combination(: I would definitely return when I am back in the area. Btw, the portions are huge :) great prices also!

It’s a strip mall so there should be plenty of parking. This store is located in the very back of the HMart food court. It’s probably my favorite store there too. I ordered the jjajangmyeon($ 6-$ 7) with my friend and the bowl was bigger than my head. The lady’s super nice too. We came an hour before closing time and she told us to just leave the dish on her counter when we were done. Standard noodles but really good when you need to get your fix.

I LOVE coming here for Korean«fast» food. The food adventurist in me has gotten something different every single time and each and every single dish has satisfied me with its delicious home-cooked flavor. All orders come with complimentary banchan, how can anyone not love that? The price is pretty good for the HUGE portions you get.

Went here based on Unilocal, and was really happy with the food! When we first arrived we thought it was going to be just one food stand/restaurant but there are actually four other restaurants in the food court! Dae Jang Gum is the most inner one, and we tried the kimchi fried rice and jangjangmyun I seriously wanted to try everything but it was too much food): We also got sushi from the japanese food stand that was the first restaurant to the left when entering. So three dishes for two people, yeah that’s enough. Kimchi Fried Rice, was really good! Really authentic compared to places like Guppy’s. The jangjangmyun were really good too! I usually only like the Taiwanese kind but from this restaurant it has a unique flavor. maybe an authentic tasting one? haha, they drenched it with the sauce however so in the end it was too overwhelming for me so I was unable to finish it.

This place is located inside Hmart and this was my place to go when I wanted cheap and quick Korean food. The prices are reasonable and the portions are always generous. Can’t forget to mention that the food is pretty good too! I normally ordered to go from this place and my usual item was the jajangmyun. I’ve also tried their tonkatsu and their seafood soondubu. The jajangmyun and tonkatsu portions are HUGE and I really enjoyed both of them. Their seafood soondubu on the other hand was just so-so to me. I guess if you want better soondubu, you’re better off going to Kaju Tofu next door. The menu here is pretty extensive so you have a pretty good choice selection for food, but my favorite was the jajangmyun. I’m sure their other foods aren’t too bad either, especially for the price. Great alternative for Korean food if you’re on a budget.
