I won’t go to garden grove h Mart. Very rude korean two cashiers

I decided to stop by this location after having lunch at Kaju, and I’m glad I did! This market carries a ton of Korean sides, from seaweed salads, to kimchi cucumbers and a crazy selection of kimchi. I would have tried the cucumbers, but I already bought a box from Kaju before leaving. The isles are a little overwhelming at first, but I love that theres Vietnamese translations too — just shows that they cater to their customers. I ended up buying a honey citron tea for my sore throat, which I’ve found does wonders for me in the past. Fingers crossed that it’ll still work!

Great selection of Ethnic Food. Mostly Korean, looked fresh and pretty inexpensive. We got sauces and staples as well as some fresh produce! Recommended by our Waiter at Mo Ran Gak, excellent food, but that is another review!

This is a local Korean market that seems caters to the Vietnamese customers. You can find signs written in Vietnamese all around the store. They also have rice noodles, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and variety of fruits/veggies from the motherland. Cheap and fresh produce on sale almost every week. I really like this location because it is super close to home and is situated in the same plaza as Phở 86, Kaju Tofu, Crave, and Paris Baguette. So many options in walking distance of each other!!! I have always favored H Mart for quality marinated Korean short ribs and beef for homemade shabu. They have food/fresh fruit samples for tasting on weekends!

About three weeks ago(somewhere in the end of August and the beginning of September, I can’t remember specifically), I saw Hmart weekly ads had lobsters on sale or $ 6.99/lb on Fri/Sat/Sun. But when I came to the Garden Grove store on Saturday, the sign above the lobster tanks said $ 8.99/lb instead. The girl who attended the seafood area told me that the lobsters aren’t on sale, she also said that I came on the wrong day(but I remembered correctly that I read the dates clearly on the ads). I didn’t have my phone with me to check the ads at the moment. I told her that I still want to buy it, she then told me that somebody already bought everything, which I think was very weird, because I saw two big tanks full of lobster, who would have bought everything in there, and if they buy everything already then why is there still a lot of lobsters in two tanks or why didn’t they put a «sold out» sign on them. And when I got home and checked the ads again, the sale was on the right day! But whatever, maybe it is just one incident. And today, Friday September 8th, 2015. I read the ads and lobsters were on sale again for $ 6.99/lb. I came to the store, the sign above the lobster tanks still said $ 8.99/lb and the same girl who worked there told me that they aren’t on sale! This time I showed her the ads, she then said«Okay» and agreed to give me the sale price. It’s quite obviously that she was aware of the sale price and refused to acknowledge that the lobsters were on sale on purpose at first, until I proved the ads to her. The ads also said that there is black cod available fresh for $ 3.99/lb, but I didn’t see any black cod. I asked the girl about it, she then asked me how many do I want. I told her I want one, and then she said that«Oh we don’t have it». Don’t you think that’s weird? After I got home, I called the store to tell my experience about why the lobster sale price incident happened twice, and why they advertised that they have black cod but when I came to the store on Friday(the first day of the sale) and they said they don’t have it. The fish department manager told me that because of bad weather, there was no catch. If there is no catch and no supply available then why do Hmart advertised about it, wouldn’t the supermarket make sure they have the product in stock before advertisement? I do believe that Hmart is a big chain company so it wasn’t because of «sorry bad weather, no fish» reason, but obviously this location is onto some fishy agenda. Because I feel like something is not right, so i called the Irvine location to ask if they have lobsters and black cods, they were excited to tell me that«we do have it and they are on sale, too»! My guess is that the Garden Grove location reserved the supply of such low price of lobsters and black cods for a restaurant or somebody to make«commission» or «pocket money» on the side. And it all makes sense now; how 3 weeks ago they said the lobsters weren’t on sale but still refused to sell the lobster to me at regular price, saying somebody bought it all, while the two full big tanks are in front of me(the lobsters were indeed on sale! but they reserved it for somebody at the sale price to make some«connection» money!) I do believe that this kind of business practice in this location will cause reputation damage to Hmart. If I was the company I would check if there was any shipment of black cod to that location for the sale week or not, and if there was, why is the location telling customers lobsters aren’t on sale and that black cods aren’t available when the Irvine location have them both on sale.(I’m pretty sure the ads apply to both locations). P/s: I called the company earlier to talk about this, too. A woman handled the call, said she will contact the location and call me later but never did.

H Mart is my go to market! They have sushi/pento boxes here. Whenever I’m free on the way to work, I stop by here to get their already made uni sushi box and their ramu soda drink. I also love their fruits here; it is always fresh. They have all kinds of korean food here! You’ve got your red Korean rice, super spicy ramen noodles, cookies and cream ice cream bars, and so much more. I usually get my ramen packs from here because it’s really good. One of my favorite ramen packs here is the cheese ramen pack or the spinach and spicy ramen pack. They have little togo ramen cups if you ever need to just grab and go to bring to work or school.

I come for 2 things, the food court and the Korean BBQ in the back. The latter is my primary reason for why I come. It’s awesome. If you’re planning on doing some grilling, serious, go to the back and get a few pounds of the BBQ. It’s already marinaded and prepped for you. I usually go for the cheapest one($ 9.99/lb) and it’s really damn tasty. Food court is pretty good too. I wont’ say much because each separate place has its own Unilocal link.

This place have almost everything I need to bring home for a meal. But like I said… almost. Although I always come here for the food bars at the side for lunch with some friends or just once in a while have a taste of their udon. Is locate in a very convenient plaza. Surrounding it are stores like baby stuffs, stationary, home supplies, etc. Is very close to my house which is where the Korea district is at. I love their fresh salmon, they’re always fresh. The place is very clean and they have people cleaning the floor all the time, unless is just a coincident that every single time I go there I always see someone cleaning the floor. They don’t just have Korea stuffs, they also have some Japan stuffs.

This Hmart has been my go to place since forever. I always come here to buys herbs, vegetable, and fresh fruits to blend for my diet drinks. Their ready togo food are also good and well seasoned. I love the fried fish balls with roe and seasoned dried squid(best with salad). They also have food court inside and each stores has their own Unilocal page and got very high ratings. Me and my friends used to hang out here when we were still students and never got dissapointed.

Garden Grove used to be largely occupied by Korean people, but as of recent years the Vietnamese population seemed to have nudged into this area. Although Hmart is a Korean market, when I come here I would see Vietnamese writing all over the place! When my friends and I come here, we always check out their ads. It’s in the front of the store towards the right entrance. The best deal we scored was probably when the live blue crab were on sale for $ 1.99/lb. We bought 20! One of my friends who is allergies to shelled-ocean critters decided to stuff his face with 5 of them! Not a good idea, but he was really excited while we were eating… Epic fail! I also recommend their pre-marinated meats! I love the way Korean people marinate their meat! Those short ribs and bulgogi. Yum! They recommend that you call ahead of time if you plan on buying 10 or more lbs of marinated meats. The sashimi here is also a steal compared to prices at the American supermarkets. My guilty pleasure is the SOJU! When there isn’t a sale going on, the 6 pack of Chamisol is $ 29.99 and the 6 pack of Chum Churum is $ 22.99. But don’t worry! There is often a sale, bringing these babies down to as cheap as $ 17.99 for the 6 pack. Whether or not there is a sale, it is extremely cheaper considering you get each bottle for $ 10ish when you drink at a bar/drinking establishment. I do not recommend buying any fruits here. Or pick carefully. It’s pretty cheap, but I don’t like to struggle.

I wish we had an H Mart close to home! Good quality produce. Loved the marinated meat counter. Picked up some deli items. Good deals on rice. We had only intended to pick up necessary items, but easily managed to fill up our cart with all kinds of things! *heart pose!*

I love this place! The grocery store is very clean and only sell fresh products(unlike some Aisan stores). I absolutely LOVE their food court! They have kimbap— definitely try it! I used to crave kimbap when I lived in Vancouver but couldn’t find it but here you can find almost any Korean food and if not I am sure you can make your own with the Korean products that are available there. Another huge plus is the cosmetic section. I don’t if a lot of girls know but Korean cosmetics are soooo good! I have been using this Korean powder for the past five years and I used to order it to my friend from Seoul, but now there is no need for that because H Mart cosmetic section has it. Overall I call this place my little Korean heaven

I like shopping at stores like this one since there is usually a wide variety of fruits, veggies and other items that are not found in the usual grocery stores. I wanted to stop by since i saw an ad for sriracha for $ 1.79, i ran out and this is a good deal. I picked up a couple bottles and 6 pack of soju. The hot sauce rang up at the wrong price, 2.99, but since i dont speak Korean, and the checker didnt speak much English i decided not to argue. This has happened before and i just let it roll, and based on other reviews it seems to happen a lot. I’ll vote with my feet and shop somewhere else. It’s been good H-Mart. but I’m breaking up with you.

I LOVE this H Mart!!! Its clean, AND the produce and fish are super fresh looking!!! My husband and I came to H Mart tonight just to browse, to see what looks good. We’ve been here quite a few times in the past, and have always had a great experience. I’ve been a bad Unilocaler, and am just getting to my review. I have a love of asian markets, and I especially love this one. They keep it super clean, and the smell in the market is super mild. Even though they have tons of fresh fish, the smell factor is not an issue. If you have been to some other asian markets, you will know what I mean about the smell. You get use to it, though. Its usually the fish. We went at around 7pm tonight, which is a busy time. People getting off work, needing to stop at the market. It was still easy to find parking, and it was pretty busy in there, but nothing out of control. The produce section was looking great. All the veggies and fruits looked beautiful. The kale, beautiful. We wandered up and down the isles, and worked our way over to the meats. They have a «take out» section over by the meats. It was closed, so they basically package up the leftovers, and sell it at half price. SCORE!!! All kinds of food to choose from. Im bad with the names… but a lot of it was the«sides» you would get when you go eat Korean BBQ. Super Yum!!! I will be going back for more of that. Anyways, we cruised through the meats… we picked up some sliced rib eye, great prices!!! I think all the meat in this store looks great. I was so happy when we wondered over to the fish section. I love fish! So much fish to choose from, and I’m telling you, super fresh. They had live Shrimp, Lobsters, Cod, and Abolone. So, So cool. The fish on ice… same thing… looked beautiful… super fresh looking. I was looking at the sushi/sashimi section, and I’m telling you, its 7pm at night, and the packaged sushi/sashimi looked great. Not questionable ATALL. I did not get any this visit, but I will be back. The only thing that was a tiny bit weird on this visit, is that they were doing some kind of construction work on the ceiling, right above the cash registers. So a bunch of the registers were closed… and there were these workers on these super high ladders right above the closed registers, with wires and stuff hanging out of the ceiling. With a lot of the registers closed, and it being a busy time of day, and the construction, this resulted in long lines. But luckily, they went pretty quick. I just don’t understand why they didnt wait to do the construction until the store was closed. Seriously, nasty, dirty workmen, half hanging off ladders, just a few feet from customers checking out? Not really safe, in my opinion. Other than that, I love H Mart, and I will be returning again, and again. Go try it out… its a great supermarket!

Review for sushi pick up– H Mart has a section where they sell pre-cut sashimi. I came to pick up a quick plate for dinner as I was in the area. Everything laid out were fresh and prepackaged nicely. I got a platter of 16 piece sashimi and also a box of uni. That came to a total of $ 18 bucks for dinner, shared amongst the two of us. It was a perfect light dinner! The fish were fresh and fatty. I loved it. It’s nice that they provide soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger inside the package as well. I will definitely be back!

A solid choice for Korean groceries in Garden Grove. My mom likes to shop in the vicinity since it’s cheaper than Las Vegas and usually of better quality. She’s usually looking for vegetables like Napa cabbage for kimchee, fruits, and other Korean goodies like Jokbal(braised pig’s feet). I enjoy accompanying her because I always find random Korean treats and snacks from my childhood. Like most Korean grocery stores, there is a food court with a few eateries serving traditional Korean meals and soups. The particular court is home to well-know Myung-In Dumplings(their main location is in LA’s Koreatown). There are also small counter boutiques selling beauty products, videos/music, and random trinkets. Nothing really distinguishable from other Korean markets in the area, but they get a bump up in rating for having a legit in-house dumpling shop and relatively easy parking. Oh, and they had a killer sashimi section! I would be all over that if I lived in the area. [ 2014: Review #150 ]

I love H-mart! The side dishes that they sell are really good — compared to other Korean markets. I know they can be a little bit pricier, but they taste a lot better. Their marinated meat section is also easy to order and offer a great selection. I’ve ordered several different marinated meats and they are all pretty good. The prices are pretty good too. Great deals on produce and great selection on other items. TIP: Sign up for their free rewards program!
