Was craving some beef fondue so I thought I’d come here since they sort of specialize in it. Food — I ordered the beef and squid fondue thinking that it would fill me but how I was wrong. Portion came out TINY. As in, in order to be full you have to order at least 2 portions for one person! The vegetables were fresh but the lack of meat and squid seriously docked one star. Price — one portion was about $ 15-$ 17 dollars and like I said above, you need more than one to make you full. I had to order noodles(because it doesnt come with it!) in order to get more from the rolls. Luckily the noodles came in a big portion. Noodles were an additional $ 2 and refills for greens were $ 3! Those added prices docked another star. This place is good for satisfying your craving but eat beforehand or afterwards!

I think I’d eaten here before. It’s like one of the first restaurants that pop up when you search in Unilocal for 7 course of beef. It must’ve been during my pre-yelp days because I didn’t have a review for this place yet. We came right when it opened on Friday. And of course, it was empty. But two groups showed up shortly after us. Though they offer 7 courses of beef per person, we learned from our friend that recommended this place that it’s way too much food for one person. We ended up getting three sets of the 7 course of beef for the 6 of us. I think they charge extra to split the food but it’s still better than overeating and paying almost $ 20 per person. And we added on an order of the prawn crackers. I think they thought it was actual shrimp on crackers. But it was like $ 3 and we got a whole plate of shrimp chips instead. Oh well, it still went well with the salad that was the first course. Very little beef in that course but I think the salad is the star of it. Haha. Then we got the raw beef to cook in the hot water. The next courses are 4 different type of beef on one plate and you eat it spring roll style. They give you a huge plate of veggies and I think there are free refills on the veggies. And finally you end with a course of beef porridge. I liked all of it and it as quite tasty. But I didn’t have high expectations. I would come back again.

I came here to eat with my boyfriend’s family on a Saturday night. I expected it to be crowded and busy but it was the exact opposite. The restaurant was huge and the staff was nice but it was a little messy. The food was pretty decent. We ordered rare beef, squid, and shrimp to be grilled table top and rolled into spring rolls. The vegetable variety they provided us with was fresh and amazing. There was not a single piece of wilted vegetable. Overall, this is a nice place to have a nice family dinner! I would come back here again!

Hm. As always, service is slow, but that I don’t mind. It’s one guy running the show. What I did mind was the overcooked meat dishes, lack of attentiveness to the cleanliness of the restaurant, and how glaringly raunchy everything looked + felt during a Friday dinner service. The courses were no good today. I unknowingly consumed the beef salad even though it tasted slightly off, but I watched 2 tables after me send the dish back. Red flag. On top of that, everything was overcooked and on the brink of being burnt. It just wasn’t good. 7 courses of beef is good, but maybe not here.

We went on a weeknight for dinner, so it was essentially a «slow» evening for them with very few customers dining. As other reviews mentioned, service was also«slow.» With that out of the way however, the pricing was $ 18.95 pp for the 7 courses of beef routine. Perhaps its because I am a meat lover, or because I seldom get the opportunity to enjoy«7 courses» of beef, but I must admit that i genuinely enjoyed the different dishes. Mind you I’m Filipino, so my palate and expectations were different from those who are familar, such as my wife(who is Vietnamese) for example. Per my brother-in-law the San Jose branch is much better in service/preparation/food quality. Perhaps my family should make a trip up to Norcal some time ;-)

My family and I came here because my dad heard good things about this place despite the Unilocal reviews. We came in to an empty restaurant on a Saturday(4pm), so that should’ve been our first sign. I love Bo 7 Mon, but this place disappointed me. We ordered the 7 course and the rare meat came out not pink/red– meat not being fresh. And the other selection of meat came out dry. We’ve been to places where the grill the meat fresh to order, but it was very obvious that the meat had been sitting in their fridge. The porridge was okay. It had a hint of pepper, so I was looking for more of it. Overall, I would say the only thing that came out right was the hot water in the bowl to wet the rice paper.

BF and I came here for dinner on a Friday. The place was pretty empty. I used to come here more than a dozen years ago a and the place was decent in my memory but they haven’t really kept up the place. I’m Abigail stickler for a clean bathroom I think it speaks volumes about a restaurant when their bathrooms are clean. These were not. The 7 courses are $ 18.95 per person plus we added a grilled meat and shrimp. Food was good and service was ok. I don’t think we’ll be back

My family are on vacation and we decided to go eat some 7 course beef. This place disappointed me on multiple levels but enlighten me on others. Based on my order and experience, I would not recommend this place, only because the entire state of California has an infinite number of great restaurants that needs to serve people there great food. This place, it’s good but your not missing out on anything. Btw, I have no idea what happens but our last course, the beef porridge had no rice but alphabet soup. IMSERIOUS! Idk if it was just us or if that’s actually what they use but it was bonkers! Notes: –I only had the 7 course beef –service is decent — it was drought season –restrooms are bad

Bo 7 mon, the 7 Courses of Beef is the famous specialty uniquely associated with the Vietnamese cuisine. Anh Hong claimed to be #1 Bo 7 Mon in Saigon although that was debatable. Au Pagolac was well known for this, I went to Au Pagolac in HCM city and wanted to Unilocal about Au Pagolac but Unilocal had not arrived in HCM city yet. I thought Au Pagolac was a disaster, I have memory of past glorious meals and Bo 7 mon was on top of that list. We had«Pagolac» the famous Bo 7 mon restaurant that was located in Little saigon, on Brookhurst ave in Garden Grove, the restaurant was packed every night but finally closed down, perhaps they had mistreated the customers and they all disappeared. In this area, there were not many choices so I decided to give Anh Hong another try. The restaurant was almost empty, there was only another table besides ours, yet service was slow. I looked at the menu, the price was $ 18.95 pp, if you want to share, they would tack on a $ 3 charge on the same order making it $ 21.95, I did not like that at all as I had been at the other 2 Bo 7 mon in town and if you wanted to share with your bff, that was not an issue. I decided to order the best course of the 7 courses, namely Bò nng m chài: Sausages made from grilled ground beef wrapped in caul fat casing. We also ordered nem nuong, grilled pork meal balls and egg rolls. Almost all their entrees came with rice paper, lettuce, fresh mixed herbs, cucumber, bean sprouts, pickled carrots. I noticed the daikon was missing and so was the raw banana but I did not complain. Nem nuong: it tasted really porky, my best guess was that was old, 1 step before getting spoiled, I should have returned it but it was past 8pm and I just as well tried to eat it. I should have ordered the Bo La Lot instead, ground beef wrapped in betel leaves, it was a mistake to order a pork dish in a place specialized in beef courses. Bò nng m chài: Sausages made from grilled ground beef wrapped in caul fat casing. This was tasty but I had it better elsewhere. Because the restaurant was almost empty, the beef was probably cooked ahead of time and a long time ago then just reheated on the grill when ordered. It would have tasted much better had there been more turn over and the food cooked right after it was ordered. Egg rolls: They were good but nothing special. The fish sauce was very diluted, it was like water, I had to fix it with more pure fish sauce, red pepper and lime. I think they made a mistake by charging $ 3 extra, that mini mall had about 7 restaurants and across the street, another 3 or 4 more restaurants, if anything they must get on the customer good side by giving a free desert or free drink or they will lose all their customers. I do not plan to come back.

This iconic restaurant chain has a few locations in California, including this one in Garden Grove. They are best known for their own family created 7 Courses of Beef or Bo 7 Mon menu with fresh wraps and rolls. The Bo 7 Mon, $ 19.95 is per person and served with rice paper, beans sprouts, pickled carrots and the freshest greens: lettuce, mixed herbs and cucumber. All their exquisite wraps and roll entrees, in fact, are served with rice paper, lettuce, fresh mixed herbs, cucumber, bean sprouts, pickled carrots and daikon. One of my dining guests, if I recall correctly, ordered the Bo Ba — 3x Grilled Beef Platter, $ 12. It comes with lat lot — piper lot leaf rolls(3), Mou Chaoi — beef sauces(3) and nooung xao — grilled beef lemongrass rolls(3). The meats are guaranteed juicy and succulent. The mixed herbs and other raw garnishes are crisp and thoroughly washed. There are number of other noteworthy entrees, however, I would recommend. The Ca Nuong(grilled catfish) and Com Tam(3 Mon) Bi, Cha(pork skin, pork patte &BBQ beef) are chief among them. The seasonally priced Ca Nuong is not always on the menu, so it is a wonderful treat if it is offered. It is a whole golden brown crispy catfish but the meat inside is moist and marinated in a myriad of ginger, shallots, garlic and lemongrass. A fragrant hanh mo(scallion oil) is drizzled over the fish and topped with roasted peanuts. The aroma, flavors and amazing presentation will grab everyone’s attention. Any variation of their meat and seafood entrees — ranging in price from $ 7.95 to $ 15.95 and served with steamed rice — are unbelievably flavorful, aromatic and fresh. My recommendation is to try anything sauteed in either the ginger or lemongrass sauces, which really amps all the senses on overload. All dishes are made to order and this process includes selecting, washing and chopping all garnishes. The staff ask patrons to anticipate the time involved in the preparation process of each dish. So patience and understanding is suggested and hopefully appreciated. Price of most dishes seem fair and reflects the quality of ingredients used to prepare them. Food is consistently delicious and always fresh as advertised.

Being generous and ranking them a 3.0÷5.0 stars. Reason 1: pro: The grilled fish is pretty crunchy inherent con: price not $ 35.00 great with just lettuce and spring roll paper. Rice paper water to dip the uncooked roll paper was too hot, it’s supposed to be lukewarm that’ll be enough to activate the roll, the hot water saturates the roll making it more difficult to roll your rolls. Con 2: The beef and shrimp goi appetizer dish @ $ 6.95 for a small plate(5 bites), super tiny plate, carrots are stale. Beef is bland & not tender. they charge you another $ 2.00 for 5 shrimp chips on the side supposed to be included with the appetizer without telling you or giving you the option to choose. I mean come on, no one likes to be nickel and dimed over some shrimp chips, other places will include it… it’s a vietnamese staple. Con 3: 25 minute wait for the fish, pro: well at least you told us before hand. Con 5: inattentive service, since they’re understaffed, only 2 waiters serving about 20 tables. there were 2 of us customers standing up raising our hands waiving it around to get their attention to ask for service. Wife was in kitchen, husband handling the cashier, Mexican cleaning tables, ok i get it it was busy they did their best to help all of us. Con 6: their maam nem(brown dipping sauce) was seriously salty, i think i just became hypertensive after a dip. Add lemon & a bit of sugar to dilute the saltiness & make a better sauce. Pro: spacious, plenty of round tables suitable for large and medium sized groups Pro: they accept plastic, not another westminister chain with an annoying cash only sign. No Min/max i could appreciate that. Pro: kirin imported beer @ $ 3.95. I guess i can get a little tipsy to compensate for the lack of food while waiting. overall, for $ 53.00 id expect more than just 1 crunchy fish, some rabbit food lettuce, couple mints, basils and chips. If the service was better id gladly pay but i just wasnt feeling it here cant justify a poor experience with mediocre food.

This place is horrible! The smell is so bad and you have to call a person plus wait like an hour until they finally to you and have to speak loudly so they hear you and they are like oh yeah anything else anything else? NO! Just get my stupid order! The food is cold and it is missing everything! A dumb little fish is 30.00!!! I don’t even know if it is dead! Disgusting! stay as far away as possible!

Worse service ever! should have known when we first walked in. But my family wanted to dine here so I gave in. They have the option to go anywhere but they chose here… smh. What a waste of my evening! Even worse when I have to take care of a bill on top if it! Took the waiter a long time to take our order and for the food to come out… food was cold when it got to our table. Sauces and dishes we’re missing, I kept having to ask for a pair of chopsticks! And They never brought me the chopsticks! The vegetables were wilted and did not have all the key herbs. There were only two servers that night. Never setting foot in this place again! I would give negative stars if I could!

I love this place! It has to be the most authentic vietnamese food you ll ever fine. I have tried viet food from all over and this place is the bomb. My boyfriend introduce me to 7 course beef and he has had me hook. I think we should do 5 course next time, I feel like we can never finish the 7 course items. Every Time we go here it never seems to be busy, maybe due to its lunch time, but don’t let the empty seat fool you it’s really one of the best vietnamese places for food in southern Cali.

I’ve been going here for almost twenty years. This place used to be packed every night we came. This time, we came on a Saturday night and it was completely empty. The a/c and lights weren’t even all on yet. It was eery. We got served immediately and the food came out very fast. Giving me the impression that it was reheated, not being made fresh. In fact the meat had that freezer taste to it… might have been my imagination but maybe not. The beer we got was tepid. It came from a fridge but the fridge was not set at a cold enough temperature so the beer was served with a cup of ice. The food still tasted good but it was more for memory’s sake that I enjoyed it.

I came here on a Tuesday night. It was very empty with one or two other tables. Right when you walk through the doors you will notice that the place could use some updating. The customer service was good which I expect because it was so empty. We ordered a few of the seven course beef and a couple of the four course beef. This is definitely a talk, drink, and eat type of meal. Everything was pretty good and the prices aren’t too bad. There wasn’t really anything that stood out but there was also nothing to complain about.

Service is always terrible but that’s to be expected from these old school type of Vietnamese joints. The dining is family style and if you’ve never been here before then it is a MUST that you go with someone who knows wtf they are doing or you will be a very confused cat. I nominate myself, just pay for my meal and I’ll show you how to eat it. 7 courses of beef, 2 orders are usually enough to feed 3 people. Remember to drink your room temperature Heineken in glasses with ice cubes to keep it authentically Vietnamese.

Some courses of the 7-course beef meal is too… hmmm, creative :) cháo shouldn’t have clear noodle! We also got some fish, and it was huge!!! Super meaty but a bit chewier than I expected. Not sure if we would come back. Oh, the restaurant could really used a seriously good cleaning and facelift. I get it, you’re there for the food. But it honestly looks like an empty warehouse with chairs on dirty carpet… See? Not too appetizing, is it?

Use to come to this restaurant ALL the time at the branch in Rosemead because my mom would crave the 7 courses of beef. It was our first time coming to this location since the Rosemead location closed down a couple months ago. Service was HORRIBLE. So difficult to wave down the waiter for anything and they would just give us attitude. He didn’t even have that many tables in the section we were in! The menu was a little different here too. Don’t like how they basically make everyone order one order of 7 courses of beef or they will charge $ 3/person. The end dish(porridge) was so bland. basically rice and beef with water. Everything else was just mediocre. Ordered 3 orders of 7 courses of beef, a plate of vermicelli noodles and hot tea for a little over $ 70. Not worth it at this location. Not coming back.
