First time to this location. Food was excellent and the service was exceptional! There were 5 in our party and everyone had something different. Everyone loved their meal! our drinks and water were never empty or even close to being empty(A pet peeve to me). The noise level was average and we had no trouble carrying on our conversations. Great Job Willy G’s!

Food not really good at all … Stale crackers for the nasty gumbo… Waitress not so friendly … She never brought us napkins without us asking for them … Looking around the other tables had napkins… Was told the pie would be hot and it came out cold… When they heated it … It was so hot I couldn’t eat it for a minute or 2… I will never come back… Hopefully this is not the customer service everyone get Manager did come out and apologize … However she is the one who brought out the pie

I wasn’t really impressed by this place, especially given the prices for the food. Coming from Chicago I was hoping for fresher, more local seafood than you can get in Chicago unless you pay an arm and a leg for it. I was hoping Willie G’s would fit the bill, but honestly it didn’t. The salad was excellent, but then again that isn’t why you visit a seafood place. The actual fish itself wasn’t terribly impressive and was generally flavorless and rather dry. It’s been a year since I went so I don’t remember the exact entrée I had, but it was a «sampler» with several different types of fish available, including red fish, which I was eager to try since it’s supposedly a local favorite. Unfortunately it wasn’t anything to write home about, again being flavorless and dry. Maybe it’s the fish or maybe it’s the restaurant, but either way I wouldn’t come back here; I’d probably go somewhere else.

My favorite seafood restaurant. The seafood gumbo is absolutely amazing and makes a good meal by itself. The gumbo is a good price for what you get. But also I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the servers are super friendly. There is a very nice view outside, and it’s in a nice part of town. I’m shocked at the bad reviews. I guess people don’t want to spend a lot. But really. Spend the money. The food is great. The stuffed shrimp are also really good, and the drink menu is great.

Since I am from the area we generally try to eat«local» but decided to give this a chance since we were spending the day on The Strand. Horrific service. Girl was new and had no training. Got there about 11:30 and left at approximately 1:30. The wait, mix ups, and excuses were ridiculous! Our bill was supposed to be «comped» in part but even that wasn’t right. Very disappointed in our experience! Definitely will not go there again!

The food was alright. But this place was apparently too fancy for us and thus we got some bad service from a sassy waitress and odd looks from other costumers. A 6 person group of ethnically diverse kids liked the food(this place needs 3 dollar signs though) but didn’t feel welcome. Could probably find just as good food somewhere where I wasn’t paying for the view and older people date night ambiance.

Very pleased with our experience, except it did take a very long time to get our food and it wasn’t all that busy when we ordered. I had the scallops and they were very, very good!

Ate dinner there this week and was disappointed in my meal. Ordered a salad and Shrimp Cabo. Was a fairly long wait for entrees and my shrimp was cold. Not a lot of people eating there, so can’t really blame a backup in the kitchen. Think the waiter wasn’t getting the food to the table quickly enough.

We came here by recommendation of our Airbnb host. I had the Del Mar, which was a 7⁄10. The rice it came with was really good. The Mahi Mahi was excellent and the red fish was fair. The stuff shrimp was lacking and bland. My wife ordered the red snapper. It was cooked well but found it to be sub par for the price. My sister in law had the tenderloin steak and shrimp kabob. The steak was under seasoned but cooked well. Our waitress was polite and did a very good job. Unfortunately, we found that the price was not worth the food. I doubt we will eat there again.

We came on a Sunday so not sure if that helped with our experience — — no complaints. We walked in without reservations and got the perfect patio table. Our server Bianca was in training but her trainer Cody assisted throughout. The Redfish was fantastic and my cocktail, the Tito’s Bellini Tini was delish. I would definitely come back…

Menu looked interesting and the atmosphere pleasant enough but after 15 minutes with no service we left. We were not even shown to a table, just pointed to one and told to sit«over there». Given a menu then never spoken to again. Lots of other choices out there.

Great food and service! The seafood was great and we highly recommend trying the Snapper Lefitte! It was delicious! For being our first time in Galveston, this place was great!

Sit down at the bar & ask for a Cadillac Margarita. The girl behind the bar, «What’s that, I can’t remember?» I knew I was in for a surprise & not a good one. Where is the manager or quality control? The poor people on cruise ships getting off to tour Galveston are in for a sad experience if you go to this place. Olympia grill is even worse.,. Poor poor customer service!

A quieter and nicer atmosphere compared to the other restaurants at the pier, but I will say what lacks the most in the business is service. The young brunette at the host stand was either asleep, first day on the job, or hungover, she was so slow. We walked in, people in front of us, total of 3 parties, a 3 top, a 5 top, and us a 2 top. It almost seriously took 10 minutes to be seated. Then while the hostess was being extremely slow and quite, multiple other women would come up, and ask her a bunch of questions, which delayed more time to be seated. A women in purple eye shadow(not exactly pleasant) and a shorter woman with dark short hair, would keep coming back to the host stand and to make things worse. Finally we sat. The food and the drinks are great! Really. Fresh raw oysters, I loved the seafood stuffed jalapeños, and shared the deal mar. Overall the food was very fresh, hot and good. Our waitress was ok. A red head older lady. Her explaination of specials where just a lot of fluff and sharing our entrée she only gave us one plate. Also after she took our drink orders, she returned with water, and said she would be back with our drinks because she got double sat. Honestly if it only takes seating two tables to distract you, then speed up a little? Same with the host stand, speed up? Food and drinks, wonderful. Service and awareness, much needed improvement

I love when people start reviews with«If I could give this place zero stars I would» so… I am appalled by the service I received yesterday for my BIRTHDAY. After having to go to a couple other restaurants and leave for long waits due to Spring Breakers, the 20 minute wait was welcome. I informed the hostess that I had my dog and so asked to sit outside, which she agreed to. I also asked specifically about the HH specials and she said we could go to the bar(we couldn’t because of the dogs) or wait the 20 minutes for our table. So we waited. Once we were seated the server said that our dogs needed to be tied up off of the deck… even though they knew about them previously and said nothing. THEN we asked for the HH menus and they said HH was only for the bar and lounge(we were literally 3 feet away from the lounge at the closest table). Absolutely no one at the restaurant was cordial or apologetic about any of the situation. We weren’t even allowed to get our parking validated. We all live less than a mile away from this location and frequent a nearby restaurant and were trying out Willie G’s as a change of pace, but we will stick to our usual and can guarantee we will not be returning. Thank you for ruining an otherwise great birthday.

Yes, I can feel your derision, you«I don’t do Landry’s restaurants» people, but I don’t care. My family enjoys Landry’s restaurants and we are even Select members(which has paid for itself tenfold), so when in Galveston for New Year’s weekend we made reservations for Willie G’s for New Year’s Eve dinner and had an incredible experience. We arrived right on time for our 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. I like the décor inside and especially the colored glass lights. Our waitress arrived shortly and took drink orders-the service was impeccable all night. I got the market salmon, blackened with mashed potatoes and green beans. The salmon was perfection-juicy and tasted fantastic. The blackening was not very spicy, but it had amazing flavor-easily some of the best salmon I have ever had. Hubby got the tenderloin skewers with Shrimp Cabo. He loved most of the meal, but said a couple of pieces of the tenderloin were a bit chewy. The boys got the NY Strip and Shrimp Cabo, both plates were completely cleaned and they loved their meals. As another plus, they also validated our parking. I can’t really say anything else, it was a truly lovely meal and exactly what I wanted for our last dinner of 2015.

Had a great experience here last night! It was difficult to decide what to order, because they have so many options! Various types of market-fresh fish, fried fish dishes, steaks, and other seafood. Their cocktail list is also a winner, with lots of great things to choose from. I had the snapper, which was topped with crab, shrimp, and avocado and came with coconut rice and vegetables. I would’ve liked more veggies, but the food was well prepared, so I’m not complaining. My dining companions had the crawfish étouffée, shrimp enchiladas, and the fried catfish. Everyone was pleased with their selections. The service was good too. I will be back to try their other dishes!

Went here with my husband for our 4 year anniversary, and I was not disappointed! I ordered the beef tenderloin tips with cabo shrimp, green beans, and Parmesan risotto. The meal usually comes with mashed potatoes but I substituted the risotto. Pros: the tips were served on kebabs with some veggies. I asked for med rare, they came out closer to medium but they were SO tender it didn’t matter. I mean, I cut them with a butter knife. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. The green beans were, well, green beans. Pretty plain but seasoned well. The Cabo shrimp was incredible– shrimp stuffed with pepper jack cheese and wrapped in bacon. And they were juicy and tender, not at all rubbery. The service was friendly. Cons: the garlic bread they serve you before dinner could have used a bit more toasting as it had a raw garlic taste. The service was a bit slow, but not horrid. I thoroughly enjoyed Willie G’s, and will be recommending it.

I went here with a bachelorette party so we had made reservations a head of time and also called to confirm. We arrived at 8:10pm to let the hostesses know we had arrived for our 8:15 reservation. We waited till 8:30 before asking them if our table was ready. A little while after that the manager pulled 1 girl aside and explained the situation and offered her a drink on the house. I thought this was a little tacky. We were a group who all had to wait. The bride later called the manager out on this and he offered a appetizer platter in addition to the 1 drink. We were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation. After that the dining experience was okay. The food was great, but the service was pretty terrible. On more than one occasion we had waiters reaching in front of us to pretty much throw down plates and silverware or fill up water glasses. They seemed super rushed and it showed with their general clumsiness. I am shocked no one ended up with a glass of water or plate of food in their lap. Maybe with a smaller group the staff would have been better but if you want to go somewhere with a big group I recommend somewhere else.
