The food is edible. The service was… Mediocre. the sausage gumbo was more of a rice pilaf. The chicken sandwich was from the kitchen of a novice. Avoid this stop if you can.

Went for lunch and had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls and salad. It was only eight bucks which makes it my kind of place. It was good and filling and service was fast. When I go out to eat I eat — I don’t care to visit or talk, just eat. Next time I head to the island, I’ll hit it up again. Recommend you give this place a try whether you are visiting or locals.

Great burgers and fries. Nice location downtown. We were in for a quick lunch. My sister really enjoyed the gumbo. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was great, and really crispy and tasty fries. Our waitress Jill was really nice and very attentive. Would love to come here for lunch again the next time we’re on the Island.

Comfort food. One bartender god awful. Linda good. Family run business you will enjoy except if one bartender is working.

The food here is the equivalent of a fast food joint. It tasted like wet cardboard. Extremely bland. They can’t cook at at all here.

Self seated at a window table. Enjoyed people watching at this corner. Friendly server/bartender/one woman show. Never saw anyone but her working. Service was excellent. Very cool décor and nice bar. Various burger toppers like grilled onions, mushrooms, various cheeses, made it like a custom burger selection. Diner type fries but the baked, stuffed with sausage jalapenos were signature. Cool place.

I live in Galveston and went there yesterday for the first time with my husband. The outside looks much nicer than the inside… We ordered beer and some chicken tenders and fries. The fries were good but the chicken was overcooked and dry served with a piece of toast(??) and some very shady looking gravy. I ended up just eating some of the fries but my husband ate the chicken and gravy. He then puked his guts out later that evening. Will not be returning.

Bad. Bad bad bad. When you sit down at the bar and your hands stick to the top, just get right back up and leave. I should have. Had a gin and tonic and a margarita. I’ve never seen someone completely butcher these two drinks the way that bar tender did. If you can’t make a decent gin and tonic, you should probably not tend bar. If you can’t build a margarita, the most common drink ordered in bars across the country, you should not be allowed behind a bar ever again for as long as you live. It’s too bad, this is a great location for a bar. There are plenty of other places to eat and drink and be merry within a stone’s throw, two excellent places right across the street in fact, so don’t waste your time in this dump.

The Stork Club is in a good location on the Strand and offers some good food. We came for lunch and I ordered the BLT with the fries. My food was very good; the fries were cooked perfectly and my BLT was a very big proportion. The overall options were nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the superb service. I’m sure it is a very different, lively atmosphere in the evenings so I will have to come back for dinner and drinks!

Great location. Lots of people watching opportunities. The service is what makes this place special. They remember you, chat up with you.

Nothing fancy here. Prices are average. Service was average. Food was below average. We bought a range of things: fried catfish, chicken fried steak, chicken sandwich. I think I’ve had better burgers at Whattaburger or McDs, meat and bun were too dry. The bun felt like it had been hanging around for awhile. Beer? Beer was good.

Nice place a couple blocks or so from the main Strand drag. Went here after eating somewhere nearby that didn’t have a FULLBAR! C’mon man! Anyway, nice place, not fancy. Nice three sided bar with plenty of stools. They also serve food and have a nice sized dining area with probably 10 – 15 tables/booths. Service was good. The drinks were good and prices were right. More of a regular’s type place we found out. People were nice, a good solid place to relax and have a drink away from the madness of the Strand and the Seawall. Went two nights in a row, only dig is the bartender on the second night didn’t know margarita skills too well, for us anyway. Not figured into my rating. I would go back if I ever end up in Galveston again.

I really like this place– the food is good for what it is– simple and consistent — cosmos rock! I have not experienced problems with the service and I am a regular patron

Stopped by this location while visiting Galveston and walking up and down streets. The restaurant had a diner feel with teal chair cushions and a copper topped bar. There were 2 other tables already seated and we decided to sit at the bar, thinking we could get quicker service. While waiting on somebody, anybody, to come from the kitchen, we admired the costume pieces on the wall. We finally got menus and put in a drink order. There was only one guy working outside of the kitchen and he was pretty slow. We placed our food order and it was served to us within a normal time. The food was good, not great, but the service was horrible. After we got our drink and food we were ignored the rest of the time there. We tried getting refills several times and couldn’t get anyone’s attention. This was the same for the other tables in the place. We finally got the attention of another woman that came from the back and asked for our check and box, and then she forgot our box…

I am rooting for this place. It is not that busy but the bartender really tried. We had the cheese stuff jalapeños and i loved them. I will go back but they need to be open more…

I just wasn’t that impressed by this place. Food was overpriced, portions were small, service was meh. I could tell our server didn’t care about being there. We have SOMANY choices on the island I won’t bother to come back to this one.

This place is just ok. If you can catch one of the three table outside on a nice day or evening then that is the way to go. Avoid the food. Bartenders can pour a drink. In a cool area, but this is just a stop on the way, not the destination. The owners of the Stork Club own the building and rent the apartments upstairs, so they’re just concerned about paying the mortgage on the building, not really making this awesome location as good as it could be.

Hamburger without flavor. No red beans and rice on a Saturday night! Their menu says it is a specialty. Must be on other nights. Chili taste like it was made for children only. Don’t know about the other food. Service worth much less than a 15% tip. I won’t be going back.

Chicken fried steak was just ok. Not a bad deal for the money. Service was fine too.
