Great lunch stop. Real cajun food. Gumbo was delicious. Crab cakes delicious. Red beans and rice average. Potato salad fresh and homemade. Boudin great. Riblets good. Lots of cajun choices. My husband and I shared our plates and tasted many menu items and were pleased. Very nice staff. Clean place too.

I’ve been here about half a dozen times now and I love it. Absolutely the best gumbo in town. House made Boudain and sausage are great. Prices are some of the best in town and the ladies at the counter are the best

My family went to Leo’s looking for something inexpensive and quick. We were greeted by the nicest lady with a golden smile behind the counter. I ordered the cat fish plate with green beans and jambalaya; my wife got the chicken and sausage gumbo. The catfish was amazing. They cut out the dark muddy tasting meat and fry it in the crispiest most awesome batter. It was seriously the top three fried fish I have ever had. The green beans were nice and spicy and the jambalaya had an great smokiness to it. The fact that they have a smokehouse truly sets this place above others. My family will definitely be back next visit to Galveston!

I had lunch here last weekend while visiting Galveston due to it being bookmarked from past Unilocal reviews. Parking is easy due to the restaurant having its own parking lot. There is indoor and outdoor seating here. Walking in, you go to the counter and order. Reading some fellow Unilocal friend reviews I decided on the riblets and potato salad for a side. I also ordered a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo. I tried the riblets and potato salad first. The serving of potato salad was huge. Easily enough for two people. It is mustard based and was cold. However, I thought it was a little dry. To me, the riblets were just ok. The sauce they give you is good but I am not much of a rib fan to begin with so my opinion about the riblets should not count. Finally, the gumbo was very good. South Louisiana quality! Even though my one experience here was mixed, I believe this is a good place to eat and will still give it a 4. I would be happy to return and try some of the other menu items including their daily specials which really looked good.

This place does it all. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices are all excellent. Don’t miss the breakfast bowl!

I’ve had almost everything in their menu. Their crawfish poboys are awesome, with a little slaw on the bun too. I also get their andouille sausage to take home and make my own jambalaya! Highly recommend this place to anyone who likes Cajun food!

If you’re really missing NOLA, this could be a quick fix but it fell short for me. I had seafood gumbo, an oyster poboy and bread pudding. Seafood Gumbo was mostly chicken and too salty. My poboy had 7 quarter size oysters on a hot dog bun. UPDATE: I bought 2 pounds of riblets and brought them home with me. They were AMAZINGLYGOODANDSPICY. Spicy like your«lips had a lip injection» spicy. Very good and thumbs up on the riblets. I changed from 2 to 4 stars.

We stopped here on the way out. All the places near pleasure pier were super crowded. We made the best choice stopping here. The food was fresh, fast, and good. The staff is very nice too.

This place was a hole in the wall spot that we found here on Unilocal. When we got there we were skeptical as there were no cars in the parking lot and when we walked in it was a fast food type set up with a counter to order. But we went for it anyways. So glad we did. We all got something different as to try multitude of things. The sausage was very good, riblets were ok, very tender but needed more flavor. The shrimp were great and the brisket delicious. But the show stealer was the ettouffe. Had never heard of it before and we were all delighted. The broth(can’t think of a better word) was flavorful and the crawdads in it were good even though non of us like them usually. All the people we talked to who worked there were very helpful and kind. Real southern hospitality. A great experience.

5 stars isn’t enough! You need to eat here. Seriously good! If you are on the seawall and think it’s too far cause it’s on Broadway you’re wrong. Go down 33rd street and take a right and it’s right there. You’re welcome.

I wish I could give 4−½ stars. This place is no frills, good food. You are greeted by the smoke smell as soon as you park. Cafeteria counter style ordering makes it quick and easy. The staff are extremely friendly & make you feel at home. My fiancée got crawfish étouffée, riblets & boudin balls, I got the shrimp poboy. He liked the étouffée, and we both enjoyed the riblets & boudin. The balls were not greasy, had a fluffy & tasty filling… add a dash of hot sauce & you’re set. The riblets, surprisingly, had quite a bit of meat on them & the smoky flavor was delicious. The poboy was pretty good. Served on a fresh hoagie roll with coleslaw & tarter sauce, I wasn’t expecting popcorn shrimp, but they weren’t overly breaded & were piled high. I would have preferred a few butterflied medium shrimp, but the flavor was there. We will definitely make this a regular spot for our Cajun fix.

Meat was very good. I had the riblets brisket and chicken. With Chicken as my favorite. They are famous for the riblet but I thought they were a bit dry for me. Sides were only average. Great value for the $$$! Give it a try fo sho.

The riblets and boudin balls are awesome, brisket and smoked boudin were good, I would pass on the half chicken, thought it was a bit dry. It’s a little whole in the wall place so don’t expect fine dining. I always ordered to go and had good service.

What?! This food was easily the worst part of an otherwise radical trip. Days later I was still embarrassed I took my friends here. I guess when a restaurant smells like formaldehyde when you open the door, you should probably turn tail and run. Lesson learned.

My absolute favorite place in Galveston! I started out coming here in 2001 when they were just a little walk in spot with no dining area. You can’t go wrong with ANYTHING here. They can smoke the heck out of meat! I’ve had so many things on the menu I can’t pick a favorite. I will say that they are famous for the riblets but I’ve grown fond of the drummies. I usually order a drummie plate with rice dressing and beans & rice. True Cajun food! Please trust me, nothing on this menu is bad. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite stops when coming to Galveston. It is very casual and somewhat reasonable. I have been coming to Leo’s for a long time and remember when they were just a small trailer on a huge lot and nobody knew who they were. Some of my favorites include: Riblets Anything with sausage Smoked boudin link Potato salad I was not a big fan of their seafood gumbo, it was just too bitter for me. They do have plates of several of their entrees and of course smoked meats sold by the pound, but you can get ½ lb orders as well. If you are hungry or just want to try a little of everything it will probably be a la carte and it can get pricy. For example, I recently dined here for lunch and spent about $ 16, but I did take home 1 riblet and part of my boudin I couldn’t finish. This is the best cajun food spot in the area, save for Abe’s in Clear Lake.

My family and I went to Leos today and it was unbelievable. I am Cajun by blood and roots. My children 12 and 14 are as well however my hubby is not, The food was authentic and flavorful. Unfortunately they had to spice it down for the people who can’t take the heat. Just throw some hot sauce on it. I ordered a shrimp/crawfish poboy, the serving size was unreal. They did not disappoint. Nothing worse that odering a sandwich with 5 shrimp and 2crawdads A boudain ball and a stuffed pepper. So good… oh wee What I ate from hubby and baby girl, cajun potato salad(there is a diffrent between Cajun and regular) bean and rice and ettoufe. I can go on forever about this place JUSTDOIT! LOVETHISPLACE now it is a staple when we drive in from houston! is the deal with Unilocal… I think they should let others who have visited or review comment on other reviews. Like the lady who supports local back in 2013. BOO to you hunniee. Business need to run on profit Small business is no diffrent and having to keep throwing away wasted ketchup packets because the law says so once it leaves the countet and go to the customer it is then trash due to cross contamination, I guess the clean resturant didn’t matter, just fact that you didn’t have free run of napkins and condiments. Well hunniee, subway HUGEFRANCHISE gives you ONENAPKIN and look at you crazy when you ask for a second. Let’s not forget the location of the resturant. They are not off of the strand, it’s tough when people come in and take your crap.

Yum yum yum. I’m so glad that we decided to grab some lunch to go here before heading to seawolf park. The seafood gumbo was delicious. I could have eaten that for a second lunch on our visit to Galveston. I was not a fan of the Boudin Balls, but the gumbo was yummy enough to warrant a 5 star ranking from me. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

I’m going out of my way to immediately write a review, it was completely way better than expected. Today, I told my bf let’s go try a hole in the wall, he said sure. Then we got to the place and he says babe I’m not too sure about this place. It was due to the atmosphere, it was very casual with a basic interior. It was very clean though. I trusted my fellow Unilocalers and urged him to try to be excited. I ordered the oyster po boy and he ordered the brisket sandwhich and we ordered a side of boudin balls. Oyster po-boy: Not exaggerating-The best oyster po boy I’ve ever had and I’ve had tons. I even make them at home by myself and they don’t come out this good. The batter was perfect, lots of seasonings and it was crunchy with the oyster fully intact in the middle. It was loaded with oysters and cole slaw. It was the perfect combination. This is the first time I’ve had an oyster po boy with cole slaw. Usually other places just put lettuce, tomatoes, and some type of sauce. So good, I want some right now. For $ 6 it’s a steal. Brisket sandwhich: My boyfriend wasn’t expecting it to be good, he had very low expectations. He took a bite and I asked him how it was. Literally, he said«either I’m just hungry or this brisket is really really good». He loved it. I was like I told you so: P $ 5.75. Boudin Balls: This was the only thing I didn’t really care for. Although, I’ve never liked boudin but I gave it a shot based on the reviews. It was okay. The people were very nice and service was exceptional. Our food came it in less than 10 mins from when we ordered. There weren’t many people though because we came in at 5 pm. Definitely returning everytime we go to galveston. Yum!

My grandmother has been a patron of Leo’s since she worked as a nurse at UTMB in Galveston. I remember she would come home with these little things called ‘riblets’ that we would just devour. I had the chance to take my husband here and to my surprise, a lot has changed! They’ve upgraded the digs — it use to be a little in and out spot that had no sitting room — we use to wait in Granny’s car while she went in and ordered the food. Now they have a modest sitting area that can fit a couple of families/parties comfortably. They’ve expanded the menu a little bit and added some other items(or maybe they’ve always had them, we always just came for the riblets) LOL! I enjoy Leo’s riblets and love the fact that you can purchase some frozen(along with other meats, seasonings, etc) to take home and cook yourself. The jambalaya was also ON point! The next time I’m in the area Leo’s is definitely getting another drop in from us AND I’m getting some TOGO!
