Galveston is a tiny place compared to New York, but apparently it is WAY too big for their delivery person. Tried to get an order delivered, but they only deliver as far as 61st street. My hotel is literally 2 minutes outside of their area… Can’t be done.

Being from the east coast New York-New Jersey area we looked long and hard to find a pizza place that we found to be comprable. Russo’s is very comparable. It’s delicious, the crust is good, the sauce is good, a little pricey but worth it for the most part.

I’ve ordered delivery from here a few times, as its one of the only pizza places that delivers to my house. Being from New Jersey and New York, I’m a big pizza fan and love to try and find the best in any city that I live. I think Russo’s is really good, especially for delivery and even more so for TEXAS! 4 stars because I think its quite over priced, but it is quite good.

I waited 2 and a half hours for our food and it was luke warm. I felt bad for the delivery driver because he seemed so stressed out and they clearly didn’t have enough drivers. My drink was forgotten and had to wait a while for that after the fact. I called the manager and I was very nice about it and explained that I was a bit unhappy with the situation. He only offered me 15 percent off…

This is my go to place for NY-style pizza once a week. The slice and a salad combo is my usual. Service is sometimes slow, but staff are sincere. Skip their desserts.

The pizza was delicious. The calamari was very tough. It was also a bit pricey. We got a large pizza and two orders of calamari and our total was 51 dollars. But like I said, The pizza was AMAZING.

Just waited over 40 mins for 1 slice of cheese pizza! Seriously, don’t offer pizza by the slice if you can’t serve have it ready to go. I’m still confused as to what the 3 pizzas that were sitting there on the counter were for?!! This place always has terrible service, but today was beyond ridiculous. I don’t care how close it is to our condo, we won’t be back.

I looked at 5 other restaurant’s pizza and decided this was the most NY looking pizza. I am happy to report it tasted GREAT and my guy and I did not get heartburn. It’s an order at the counter place with a nice seating area. For a large 2 topping, wine and a soda we paid about $ 30. It’s what I would expect to pay at a better pizza joint. Counter Girl was really nice. Desserts looked great. Two cops stopped in for cake and a cook from a local restaurant was picking up a pizza. That’s always a good sign. I’ll be back on Wino Thursday for dinner!

I only did take-out here after taking the ferry. My order was ready before the expected time. I wished I tried their monster slice, but we ended up getting a large pizza with proscutto/mushrooms/olives and one other topping I can’t think of. Oh yeah and a pistachio cheesecake. The pizza overall was good. The dough was cooked well and everything tasted fresh. My pistachio cheesecake was more like a regular cheesecake with pistachios on it. It wasn’t bad though. Just though there would be more pistachio flavor throughout the cheesecake itself. I would order here again and try the monster slice, but I probably wouldn’t get regular pizza. Maybe I didn’t order right, but my one large pizza ended up being roughly $ 30. That’s a lot for one pizza, and their large is the same size as your average pizza place. The menu on Unilocal said the toppings were $ 2.25 but when I looked backed at my ticket it was $ 2.95 each, almost $ 12 for toppings alone. Paying the same price for proscutto toppings as for olives or mushrooms didn’t seem right either. Overall I would say the pizza is slightly better than average, but I can’t quite justify the price to be a regular. That opinion might change if their NY slices are a hit with me. I think they need more consistent pricing for their food for me to eat anything else.

Our favorite place to dine when visiting Galveston every summer. The family is great and it’s safe for my peanut/tree nut allergy son to eat.

I ordered a Salad and some tortellini soup, and a child’s plate pasta dish, plain pasta with garlic and olive oil. The pasta was very bland, no flavor at all and hardly any garlic. I asked in my order for extra parm and didn’t get any. The Tortellini soup was very good. I will order that again. My salad also was very good. You have to have a minimum order I think of 20.00 so I had food to take home. I will order once in a while, glad to see you can now order from here on Unilocal, every time I tried to order off of their website it was a no-go.

Slower this Sunday morning. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, but then they brought out the slice. It was huge! Definitely worth the price! We will probably stop back by a few more times while we’re on the island

Disappointed. First time to try this place and the pizza was over cooked. The cheese bubbles were black along with the crust. If you can’t get a pizza right I wouldn’t try anything else.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Thursday, hoping for some tasty pizza. The place was most empty. We were greeted and advised we could take a menu and sit down to choose our order. That was the highlight of our experience… When we were ready to order, the guy behind the register appeared to be closing out his drawer and wouldn’t make eye contact with us. This is the same guy that greeted us so nicely only moments before. A woman then rushed out of the back with her mouth full of food and took our order. It took her forEVER to enter a salad, soup, and a slice of pizza and she narrated every key press to us to pass the time. We spotted several old and sad looking huge cheese pizzas on the counter. We hoped that the process for a slice of pizza wasn’t going to be adding toppings to a slice and heating it up. Alas, we were disappointed. The slice of Greek pizza had fresh looking toppings on top of old rubbery cheese and stale crust. Did I mention there were flies everywhere, including on the sad counter-pizzas? Gross. We also had the Tuscan salad and Minestrone soup. The salad was enormous, it could have fed four people. Very dry chicken and way too much pesto. The soup was watery and unpleasant to look at. There has to be better Italian on the island, go literally anywhere else!

Well my wife and I had headed to Café Michael Burger to only find it was closed for renovation. BOOO! So we had eaten at quite a few Russo’s around Houston and have even been to this one 3 or 4 times and we have always liked the food. Well to start off the staff was NOT friendly. Seemed put off by us even being there. We ordered and sat down. We waited and waited and waited and waited and waited. People who had come in 20 minutes after us were already done eating. We checked the receipt and it showed we had been there 45 minutes already. Place was not packed at all so did not know what the holdup was. My wife flagged down the waitress who said she would bring us some bread. OK well I don’t want to fill up on bread lol I want pizza. 15 minutes later. We are at the 1 hour mark. STILLNOBREADEVENLOL. I get up and walk to the register at which point the girl who promised us bread gave me a «oh crud» look and quickly grabbed some bread and went behind me to our table. My wife said she refused the bread at which the girl asked the table over if they wanted it LOL. I stood at the counter and told cashier I wanted my money back we were going somewhere else. She looked just completely dumbfounded. She did not give me my money back but instead went to the back where I saw her talking to the manager. She left me up there for 3 minutes(I timed it) when another man came up and asked what the issue was. I said I wanted my money back cause it had been over an hour and we just wanted to leave. He said«well I think your pizza is almost done» I said I did not really want to deal with this anymore I wanted to leave. About that time the girl came back up and said«sir your pizza is going to be done in like 3 minutes» OK I lost my cool at this point. My wife at the table saw this I I started raising my voice and tried to hold back a profanity laced tirade. The girl left AGAIN and went to the back and got the manager. He came to the front and asked what the problem was«seriously??? again someone asks?» I explained we had been there over an hour and just wanted our money back so we could go somewhere else. He told us the pizza was ready. LOL seriously I thought I was on punked at this point. At that point I just said very sternly” I don’t want your pizza give me my money back” So finally I heard the angels sing as I saw the girl start to refund my purchase. The manager then came up with my pizza and told me to take it. I told him i did not want it. I am not going to take what I did not pay for I just want to eat. He kept insisting and insisting. My wife finally told him he did not get to clear his conscious by making us wait an hour and argue with us by giving us food. Seriously. I dunno if this was the same owner from the last times we had been there. I dunno if the crew working was just completely lazy rude and incompetent. I dunno!.. But fool me once. Well ain’t happening again. I will stick to the Russo’s off 646 in League City.

I was so happy to see Russo in Galveston. I found it by accident. My Android phone acted up when I was watching the Mardi Gras parade. I couldn’t get my Unilocal app updates until I walked around to get better signals. Russo came up on the top of my list of restaurants. Pizza and soup were excellent as usual. On this day, my friend ordered a calamari fritti. It had an appetizing presentation and tasted very fresh. I love the cheese-bacon bits topping on the calamari. One thing I have to point out, it came with 2 full sets of tentacles(my favorite part of squids). But if you know someone might be offended, be sure to tell the kitchen staff. I am a fan of Russo’s New York Pizzeria. My goal was to travel around Texas to try all of the restaurants.
