3.5 stars so far. Nice folks behind the counter. Always seems pretty quiet the few times I’ve been here. Banana smoothies is pretty good. 2 hours free Internet, then you need a code from the barista. The food menu looks pretty good, haven’t tried it yet. Update: Tried the BBQ sandwhich. In a word… Yuk! hamburger bun and generic meat with sause. Nothing special, threw half of it away. Now I see why people are sitting in their sipping coffee from there, but eating Subway from next door. Nice, quiet place though, with a view of the ocean across a street. Good place to maybe get some work done.

Well there’s one thing that I know, when I see«Lasso a Latte,» it puts a smile on my face just because I like saying, «I’m gonna lasso a latte, right now.» I know, I’m a dork… ehh…working the dorkiness! Located in a shopping center on the seawall with other businesses that just didn’t seem to make the cut as far as business goes. There are probably 3 or 4 businesses that are still open in the shopping center and everything has a «for lease» sign. Well thank goodness, Lasso a Latte is still there because it’s a convenient walk from where a friend lives. So in the morning before everyone is awake, I can simply walk to the coffee shop and get my fix and enjoy some me time. The décor of the place is your typical café type décor. Pictures of coffee, beverages, and food, couches and tables and bar stools, it’s pretty comfortable for catching up with friends, studying or just reading a book and staring out into the gulf. The service is OK, they did mess up my drink order but it wasn’t too bad. Instead of giving me the medium sized latte, they gave me the large sized one, which was huge! Luckily they did give me the soy milk or else… yikes! They were friendly and constantly had smiles on their faces. They seemed to have regulars come in because they knew exactly what was going on in their daily lives, which is always nice to see. Too bad I didn’t read Leslie K.‘s review and figured out the wi-fi deal, because my friends and I thought, now why wouldn’t a café have wi-fi, especially so close to UTMB hmmm? Duh! But other than the small mishap, the place is a good place to grab some coffee and catch up with friends, study or simply enjoy the view. The coffee is OK. The latte isn’t particularly strong, but it serves its job of giving you the caffeine fix and coffee flavor in your mouth. The people are friendly and can’t say much about location because it’s super convenient.

Came here on 03/13, a Sunday night, after dinner to study. They had a few customers around 8:30p. We took the huge rectangle table right inside the doors. I ordered a republic of tea, hot tea… forgot the exact name of the flavor but I think it had hazelnut in it. Big Mistake. Grrroooosss! I took one sip and I wanted to spit it back out. Not the establishments fault. Its the tea. Hazelnut and tea just doesnt mix. I have never ordered hot tea before and I dont know why I did that night. Ill come back one day for their creations… a coffee creation to be exact. My bf had hot chai tea. The asn barista was nice and friendly.

Each receipt has a unique one time use internet access code =/tricky Good place to study, I think it’s a clever idea to hang extension cords from the ceiling for tables in the middle The place echoes a lot, so it can get kind of loud when a bunch of people are talking. I really like the holiday apple cider… i forgot the name but the special one that has caramel and something else added. yum

When I came here, I found heaven. I am in love with the beach. I am in love with coffee shops. This is the only coffee shop I’ve ever been to that allows me to sit and drink and write, AND look at the beach! They have the best view! I always sit at the tall bar in the corner with the great giant chair. It’s such a nice view and the huge windows allow the sun to warm my legs while I write. The staff could be a bit friendlier, I see the same girl every Monday and she makes me feel awkward when I try to talk to her. I figured they would appreciate someone that comes all the way from Houston to have a lunch there. Also the food is great for the price. For $ 5 you can get a great microwavable philly or burger(yes it’s microwaved but damn it’s good) and a really nice salad. This place is great. And lucky for me it’s usually never crowded. :)

Now I have had time to stop in and it looks like a great study place for UTMB med students. There are tons of tables and they have free wifi! Their lattes on ices are delicious but a little pricey. But I have enjoyed them to keep me awake on my drive home. They have tons of flavors that can be mixed in the lattes and coffees to make them very unique. I will keep coming back!

Good place to sit and watch the water… or study with a view of the Gulf of Mexico. Good drinks, friendly staff… comfy couches… and they even have a drive-thru window. Typical coffee shop food offerings — bagels, cheesecake, kolaches and… potato salad.

I love this coffee shop because it’s right around the corner from my house. It is a great place for students like myself to break out the books and enjoy a cup of coffee while using their free Wifi. You won’t be alone, lots of students do the same. I only gave the business 3 stars because their drinks are not consistent. I order the same drink almost every day, and they only get it right about ½ the time. Maybe they should set some standards so that all employees make all the drinks the same way. When they make my drink right, it tastes great! They also have a drive through which makes coffee on the go incredibly convenient.
