I take meditative walks on the beach and almost always stop by Murdoch’s to grab a cold drink and sit on one of the rocking chairs on their patio to watch the waves. Very relaxing. The store is huge, with a wide selection of souvenirs, beachwear, beach-themed home accessories, snacks and drinks. The store is well-lit, spacious, with Items arranged neatly on the shelves and racks. Nice place to shop, grab a drink, or enjoy some shade on a really hot day. Store clerks could smile more and greet customers with more enthusiasm, but other than that, Murdoch’s is definitely a thumbs up.

Great place to hang, enjoy the scenery and helpful employees to help with your shopping needs. Plus, cold drinks to enjoy the rest of above mentioned.

2.50 beer and a killer deck to sit on and watch the ocean. What more could a person need? The staff is always polite and let my kid hold a crab!

I love Murdochs! So much to see, so little time. My boyfriend and I took the pups with us and this place is dog friendly-ish. You can have them hang out on the breezeway while you’re enjoying the gulf view in the shade on some comfy rocking chairs sippin your drink. Pets can’t go into the store everywhere with you, but there’s so much stuff, I wouldn’t want the stress of my dog’s tail knocking over something so that’s not a problem to me. I remember this place before Ike and it’s a huge improvement having two stores being rebuilt together. I believe the other store was called Mermaid’s Pier? Something like that but now it’s all under the name Murdoch. I love looking at some of the tacky joke shirts and the hermit crabs with some cute painted shells. This place is a bit overpriced for some souvenirs but it’s worth looking in and there is a selection for all ages from toys to Columbia clothing for the classy guys. I went in there hoping to find a cute new purse that said Galveston on it or something but all they had were giant beach tote bags. So that was a bummer, but every time I’ve come here, there’s always something new! So maybe next time. My only thing that made me give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that their hours of operation are questionable. On Unilocal it says one thing, I called a head and talked to one girl who said they’d be open til 10pm on a Friday night and the. I called again and another girl answered the phone with«Hello?». I thought I called the wrong number, but I didn’t and I explained I was in town for a limited time but dinner took a bit longer than expected and I just called to confirm that they’d be closing at 10pm like another girl had told me. Well the woman I spoke withstand when they’re not busy the close no matter what time. What? It wasn’t the busy summer season yet, but Mother’s Day weekend, and one would think that they’d be a little more accommodating and professional but alas when I saw the«Help wanted» sign on the door, I figured that griping over some miscommunication wasn’t worth it. I went the next day. Hope they find the help they need. Still one of my favorite places to buy souvenirs!

This place is great. They are basically a shop for Galveston tourists. They have a lot of souvenirs related to a beachy theme. They have the cheapest draft beer. $ 2.50. They also have a great patio area that overlooks the beach.

This was one cool place to stop and grab a souvenir before heading back home. Its right on the beach along the Seawall and conveniently located across from many of the hotels and Pleasure Pier. We stopped in and couldn’t help but grab one or two selected Galveston themed items. They have such a wide assortment of shirts, hats, slippers, picture frames, kids toys, snow globes and even hermit crabs. You name it, Murdoch’s probably has it. The store is connected by a small viewing balcony so you get to walk right across from side to side as much as you please without having to go up and down the stairs except when you get there and when you leave. You can sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the beach and sip on a nice cold drink. Must stop shop.

Regular stop. Great deck for drinking beer and watching waves. Try the frozen concoctions they do not disappoint, and who can beat a big bottle of Red Stripe while watching the fish in the surf.

Cute shop, with tons of souvenirs. Everything you could imagine. The staff wasn’t overly friendly, seemed put out to be working. Maybe it was just an «off day» for them. Their balcony overlooking the ocean is gorgeous.

The margaritas here are strong and a great size/value for only $ 5! I had 3 in 2 hours and appreciated how the bartender asked who was going to drive me home before I was served a 2nd one. He made me show him my boyfriend and knew that he had a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri before he over served me. I really appreciated that! Also, the deck is so amazing to sit and relax on! I love the rocking chairs and the benches to sit up straight in. They do need to pay more attention to the cleanliness of the Ladies’ restroom, but overall I love going here for the relaxation and margaritas!

Murdochs is an awesome gift shop. Stop by and see my friend Cynthia. You will get much more than your purchase. She is positively uplifting and knows the best places to eat and have fun on the island.

My husband and I adore this store. We were married in Galveston 4 years ago and get a commemorative ornament every year from them. The store is HUGE! Takes at least an hour to one and a half to go through the whole store. And we do both sides. I like the drink and view station in the middle because geez… your mind/and hands are so overloaded… you need a break!!!

A great store on the Seawall — definitely the place to go for souvenirs! They sell everything from t-shirts to seashells to wind chimes made of seashells. The best thing about Murdoch’s? They sell frozen drinks and beer right next to an open air patio overlooking the Gulf. So head over to Murdoch’s, grab a strawberry daiquiri, and enjoy the view from the rocking chairs on the patio.

Do you love getting random tchotchkes on vacation? Are you remiss if you don’t leave a vacation spot without some useless trinket? Then skip those random joints around town in Galveston and only plan on shopping at Murdoch’s. This place is the epitome of what a souvenir shop should be. You will adore this place. It’s inexpensive and the product doesn’t look it at all. Go here and leave town happy. You’ll thank me later.

This was a pretty cool place along the seawall! It’s a huge souvenir shop with lots of space to roam around in with an open seating area with an awesome view of the ocean and is a great picture op! This souvenir shop has so much to choose from. clothing, knick knacks, hermit crabs, food and drinks. This place is sort of pricey since its a hot tourist spot, but I thinks that’s to be expected. The staff that helped us with our search for a hermit crab was very friendly and helpful. She realized we were missing the sponge for the crab to drink from and went out of her way to find one to replace it. I thought that was great customer service! I would come back for sure!

We really enjoyed our visit to Murdoch’s and were able to find some wonderful little gifts for the family. I LOVED that it’s exactly as I remember it when I use to come as a little girl — very sentimental and nostalgic for me. Found some beautiful shell wind-chimes, shells and coral pieces. Will be visiting again next time I’m in Galveston!

Love this place! It holds a special, sentimental place in my heart. My sister and I were re-connecting after being estranged for many, many years, and we sat out on their deck and drank and talked, and healed old wounds. How can you NOT love a place that helped you with that? I was devastated when Murdoch’s was destroyed by Ike, and the first time I walked on the deck after it was re-built I teared up a little. After my sister passed away, I came down here to sit on the deck and say goodbye. I may have looked silly sitting on the deck, margarita in hand, with tears streaming down my face, and a smile. Even without qll that, I think this place is super fun, and really brings you back to the old bath houses of the past. Seriously, just close your eyes and little and you are transported back in time. Or maybe that’s just me and my overactive imagination… They have all the regular touristy stuff; pretty much the same stuff as everyone else, but the prices are decent, plus they have clean bathrooms. And air conditioning! And alcohol and drinks and snacks, and jewelry and shells, and books and wind chimes(there is a set of small wind chimes from here at my friend’s flat in England btw) and hermit crabs! I hate that they have the poor hermit crabs all shoved in a plan tank with nothing else… I feel bad for them and want to take them all home! This is a clean, pretty, air conditioned place with all kinds of neat things to look at. Plus, many happy memories. I love Murdoch’s!

I’ve passed by this place many times, but never knew what it was until I needed something specific. Thank goodness Murdoch’s carried it! The place appeared small to me from the outside, but it was huge when I got into the store! There were a large varieties of things there such as sandals, clothing, toys, snacks, and souvenirs. It’s a one stop shop! Parking is on the seawall and there aren’t many spots in front of the shop, so be aware of that! Many people that stop in are already walking on the seawall, so parking isn’t too much of a dilemma. I was specifically looking for the infamous sandals, and I was surprised that this place had it. I knocked off a star because I needed a size 6, and it’s so strange because they carry every size from 5 – 11EXCEPT for a 6. I asked two employees there and one didn’t know how much about what I was talking about, and the other employee was rude. She spoke in a «you didn’t know that?» Type of manner. Other than the experience with the employees there, I would definitely come back another day to look some more around the store! Highly recommend others to come check out this one stop shop!

Murdoch’s is one of the best establishments in Galveston. It has been around since 1910 and is Galveston’s best souvenir shop. It is extremely large and they have items ranging from shot glasses and t-shirts to beach home decorations. One of the best things is to come buy a frozen drink or alcoholic beverage and sit on the patio in the rocking chairs. The view over the water is great and really relaxing.

My kids were just playing with the toys we’re going to get them and the old lady told them to stop abruptly. The customers didn’t have any problem with them at all. They weren’t running around and touching the souvenirs, just playing with THEIRTOYS. I would give this place no stars if I could but Unilocal wouldn’t let me. Their first time being in the beach… thanks lady. She literally said(no eye contact), pointing at the kids, they need to stop that and turned her back to ring up the other customer. She was really nice to the other customers but when my husband was paying she barely even noticed us. Why sell toys for the kids if they have to stay quiet and walk calmly? Isn’t this place supposed to be a tourist spot? Family vacations??? If you have kids don’t bring them here. The Hilton Resort’s gift shop didn’t mind my kids at all trying out(no not banging, destroying, trying to unwind or disconnect) the toys. Never coming back to this gift shop again.

They have a lot of souvenirs if you’re visiting Galveston island. I don’t understand why they have two stores right next door, connecting to each other, and selling the exact same stuff!!! it’s like hey, you might want to get these stuff cuz you didn’t buy it over there! They have some cool stuff though. You are bound to find something for anybody in this store. It’s funny they have all these stuff but NOTHING for pets! I was specifically looking for dog toys to get for my little one at home. Offered me nothing! :(I ended up with a few shot glasses and magnets hehe the usual souvenirs.
