Good for last minute, late night, cheap Mexican. Green sauce will light you up! That sauce bumped this review up from a two to a three star. It’s legit. I’ve tried the fajita plates, and the shrimp and fish plate. Fajita is meat and onions, no peppers/cheese. Decent meat, a little dried out. Beans are pretty standard, so is the rice. Eh. The fish filet was good, well seasoned and moist. The shrimp were not! Way over cooked, nearly crispy with out the breading. And they’re tinier than salad shrimp — very small. Cheap eats. It’ll do in a pinch. Get. That. Green. Sauce!

Best dive burrito /whatever joint in galveston. Boys love the surprise burritos. We love the beef fajita burritos. Chicken soup is awesome. Green sauce is to die for and it is very spicy. Will have to get out of the box and try the burgers and the fried shrimp /fish. Winner winner pupusa dinner. Pork pupusas are best.

To die for! With that hot sauce oh my goodness best thing ever. And for 7 dollars? Tell me where you can beat that? I thought so lol.

Seriously, I’ve probably been here 20 times and I haven’t even tried their burritos!!! Every time I go in with the intention of ordering one(and, you really only need one because they’re ginormous!) I end up ordering fried shrimp because its SO good and so cheap!

This unsuspecting little hole in the wall isn’t much to look at but the food is quite good and an exceptional value. I’m not sure I’d call Henry’s «Mexican» though. It’s a bit Mexican, a bit burger joint, and a bit fish stand. The fried catfish and shrimp plate is very good. It tastes as you’d expect and the portions are generous. The grilled catfish is unbelievable. Flaky, moist, and buttery. I’ll be having more of that on my next visit! The beef fajitas are very good as well. Not as you’d expect in some other Mexican restaurants, with the sizzling platter and all, but tasty. I’m not sure if the«usual» fajita fixins were missing or if that’s just another Americanized-Mexican thing. The beef is well-seasoned with black pepper if that appeals to you. It’s not my thing(but that just makes me weird, apparently). The flour tortilla shells are thick with a hint of salt(perhaps butter). Delicious… even on their own! The chicken quesadillas are substantial. Not just barely filled with meat but rather bursting with it. All four entrees and a drink came to an impressive $ 33. Great value for very good food!

Pros: –They have the biggest breakfast burritos for only$ 3.50 –It’s delicious –They have great salsa Cons: –If your order is under $ 5 you will have to pay with cash or be charged a card fee –No complimentary water –The service is super duper slow –The cleanliness is questionable Even with all the cons, it’s totally worth it.

I agree with all the other posters saying this place looks pretty jank on the outside. There’s no denying that. But I go here for the cheap, good food. And my go-to is surprise burrito with barbacoa($ 5.50). The burrito is huge and is either one large meal for me or 2 smaller meals. I’ve also had their plantains(sweet) before which are pretty good. But their surprise burrito without the barbacoa is only $ 3.50(includes bacon, egg, cheese, potatoes)! I always call my order in and they have it ready for me within 10 min or so. Will be back soon.

They have the best breakfast burritos for cheap! My favorite breakfast on the island. Do not judge it by the outside as I did in the beginning because I was missing out. Definitely a little hole in the wall, so go there and get a buritto!

This place is the ULTIMATE dive, that being said, one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. The dining area is totally humble, and you order at a counter, but the food is as good as it gets. The spicy green salsa is some of my favorite salsa in the world. It’s so simple, but the spice level is so good. I always buy a quart of it to-go when I’m in town. The surprise burrito is top 5 tastiest things on the planet. Their tortillas are dense, doughy, but cooked perfectly. The eggs are fluffy, the beans creamy, the potatoes and bacon crispy. Oh and did I mention it’s $ 2.77? I can’t be in Galveston and not get one. Go here, suspend judgement if you usually like fancier places, ANDGET A SURPRISEBURRITOWITHGREENSALSA! Although everything is awesome. My second favorite is the Carne Guisada.

Close your eyes and trust me. I avoided this place the first five years I lived here because of the exterior and what a mistake I made. Hands-down the very best cheeseburger you will ever eat in your life I guarantee it. You can’t make a better one on your grill and neither can I. I don’t know how they do it. They also have an amazing grilled chicken sandwich and the«surprise» breakfast burrito sounds scary, but trust me it’s delicious!

Very local and affordable food, the food tends to be very fresh especially the tacos. The burritos are pretty darn big, and I’m 6’6 I know big. I struggled to finish two of them. The Beef taco plate with onions, cilantro, rice, and beans is my favorite meal.

Wow is this place a big ol secret! Incredibly priced food! Great portions! DELICIOUS food! Super service! I would have never tried this place if my mom didn’t suggest it and she wouldn’t have if her friend hadn’t, I’m telling you there is a conspiracy going on to hide this place lol it’s great they also serve breakfast and american food as well :)

well… the speaker in which you place your order is very LOUD! what’s not to like when it comes in a plain brown paper bag… usually that’s a good sign in my opinion :) i ordered a single cheeseburger with bacon and jalepeno’s…combo meal… med dr pepper and fries $ 5.40 bread was a bit hard, bacon was kinda like jerky, fries unseasonsed — BUT, i ate it ALL and smiled!!! support local

Henry’s is A-OK by me. Definite dive, the dine-in experience is a must see. You never know who may come in. While we were there, a James Brown impersonator came in, not the dancing James Brown but the arrest photo James Brown-just google it. Anyway, next time i will order to go to avoid the sex machine and the sticky tables so I can get home and get back to episode 5 of the Fall guy.

This place is dirty. When we ordered our food. We didn’t even get our drinks until five minutes after we got our food. The service was not great, the food was very greasy. I ordered the pupas plate and it was the worst pupuas I have ever had. I would keep looking for another places to eat on the broad walk. Unless you want a side of Roach with your meal keep on moving to another restaurant.

I have been a patron of this island gem for many years and it has yet to disappoint me. If you’re looking for a hole-in-the-wall type place that serves a variety of dishes at an extremely reasonable price, this is the place to go. The food has always been fresh and customer service excellent. As a poor student, I definitely enjoy great value. The«Surprise Burrito» has to be one of the best breakfast burritos on the island. For roughly $ 3.00, you get scrambled eggs, bacon, refried beans, cheese, and french fries(yes… it’s amazing) wrapped with a hearty homemade flour tortilla. For a couple of dollars more, you can choose to add things such as barbacoa and chorizo. A normal person should be full off one of these massive things(nearing probably 1 lb.), but if not, get a tamale or pupusa. As mentioned in other reviews, this place is El Salvadoran. The tamales are different, wrapped in a banana leaf and a different masa in comparison to Mexican tamales. They are softer and smoother in texture. The pupusas are excellent as well and go great with the pickles vegetables they provide. From maranon(cashew fruit) to El Salvadoran horchata, there have been many different aguas frescas I have enjoyed. Another must try. Please consider Henry’s if you’re looking for fresh food(and a lot of it) at a price that’s unbeatable, you won’t be disappointed!

First of all, let me clarify. Henry’s is NOTMEXICAN. It is El Salvadoran. I started eating here right before the current owner bought the place, about 10 years ago. It was a burger and fried seafood place that served pizza. The new owner kept many of the original items, ie, burgers, fried seafood, chicken, etc., but no more pizza. They added numerous Salvadoran dishes, like yucca and plantains. I eat here on a regular basis. It is a no-frills kind of place that has a local following. The building could be nicer, but I do not go to restaurants for the look of the building. Surprise burritos are $ 3 including tax, and although it is breakfast, they are served all day and are a great value. If you are still hungry after eating one, you are a pig!(I am not sure how one of the previous reviewers complained about the size of the burritos here. What a size queen!) For dinner, I like the enchiladas(similar to Mexican tostadas), the yucca plate, and the fried plantains. Pupusas and tamales are also good, but remember, the tamales are Salvadoran tamales, not Mexican tamales. Most people get orders to go, but it is kind of nice to people watch here.

Henry can’t make up his mind on what to serve. It used to be a pizza and burger place. Now it is a Mexican Seafood place. But in case he changes his mind, he just named the place«Henry’s» without specifying a food type. The facelist is complete, except for the Christmas scenes that remain on the glass windows. The music is a loud fast-beat Mexican stream that the staff loves(they restrainingly move to the music). You can’t get away from the music in the set of wooden benchs and chairs, because for speakers, they have an Even Pair on(hold that thought). Pictures of the dinners hang behind the counter and are pretty. The menu has some interesting items, and the food is priced for the poor. Although the many pictures of the meals look enticing, this place will be snubbed by high society diners. Hmmm. That oddly seems to remind me of a Broadway play, and evokes a song.” «Don’t fry for me a shrimp deenah, The truth is I need to diet All your fat and calories At my gut’s insistence I’ll suspend my promise Don’t keep your distance» I succumb to the temptation of fried shrimp. You get 5 medium shrimp(comes with shredded lettuce), and a drink for $ 5. The shrimp were slightly overcooked and a bit dry, but were fresh. The taste was good enough, especially for that price.
