Enjoyed the fried chicken and turkey burger. The service was exceptional and the décor and atmosphere delightful. The only thing I noticed is the fries and the chicken didn’t have that crispness that are customary for those items, so unsure if it’s the oil they use or just how they prepare them. But overall a great experience

We stopped at Sarah’s on the way to St. Jo on Saturday. We were immediately drawn to the historic building & décor. The wait staff was friendly, letting us choose where we wanted to sit. As busy as they were, they were patient, answering every question thoughtfully. The food came quickly, & wow… all I can say is that this will be my meal stop as I travel for business in the future. Eating at Sarah’s is an experience, not just a meal. Be sure to stop by her shop next door.

We were in the area for our anniversary and was looking for somewhere nice to eat besides the Winstar steak house which is just ok. We found Sarah’s and decided to try it. Cute old town building. We were nervous as I have special dietary needs, but our sweet waitress went over the whole menu with us and offered options. We both had the prime rib with green bean almondine and sautéed kale. The prime rib was wonderful. The kale was the best I’ve ever had. They even had a sugar free cheesecake that was delicious. Great food, great service, we will be back on our next trip up.

The service was impeccable this evening and so was the food. I had the brisket and it was perfectly cooked and the chipotle raapberry sauce is to die for. The French onion soup was also a spectacular starter!

I went in on a Saturday afternoon the restaurant was quite full. Atmosphere was more on the girly side, very cutsie. The décor and history behind the restaurant was interesting to read while we waited for our food. I had the chicken spaghetti and my boyfriend had the world’s greatest burger. I enjoyed the dressing with the side salad and the pasta itself tasted good with a generous amount of cheese. However, I didn’t like how there was a very small amount of chicken pieces in my pasta. I tried the burger, the buns were deliciously sweet and the green chili peppers added a good kick to the burger. Overall everything tasted fresh and pleasant. I would recommend this place for a weekend afternoon stop for brunch.

Two stars because my mom liked her chicken spaghetti and the atmosphere was great. I, on the other hand, did not even get to eat. First I asked Hank for hot water. I got a microscopic tea cup that held three swallows and a teapot that dripped water on the side instead of pouring it. It took me ten minutes to get an actual mug and some napkins. I tried to order a vegan salad with o&v, but the lady kept interrupting me to ask about what I was already trying to say. Waitresses kept bumping us without apology or even acknowledgment. My mom’s food came out, but not my salad. A few minutes later, it came out, but no o&v. After a few minutes, she finally came back by and I asked again. She brought me a dirty leaking bottle covered in foil. I was so hungry I ignored it. I poured a little, but the waitress took the bottle to someone else. That table wiped up the leak with her finger, licked her finger, and repeated several times. And then the waitress gave it back to me. Disgusting. And now empty. I asked for a new clean bottle and wanted to tell her why and to wash that one, but she was long gone. Later she came back with the same dirty licked bottle. I asked for a ramekin and again tried to warn her, but she was gone. She came back with, I kid you not, one tablespoon of oil for a large salad. By this time, it had been an hour and my mom had finished her plate. I gave up and left.

Sarah’s is hands down, THECUTEST place to sit and eat! It is my absolute favorite! Everything on the menu is delicious and you MUST leave room for one of their homemade desserts!

We came here on our way to Dallas, and it was absolutely delicious! They were able to seat our party of 6, including 2 kids, right away! They were pretty quick and accommodating to us. The food was extremely tasty. One of the best places we’ve found en route. Definitely give this place a try if you’re looking for friendly service and tasty food!

This is a cute café on the Gainesville square. We both had the Monster Quesadillas, and they were good. My husbands tea was sour but they promptly exchanged it for the peach flavored tea, which he said was very good. This is one of the few decent restaurants in our area. And the price was very reasonable! We’ll be back!

Phenomenal food. Really quick, friendly service. Was just passing through on the way through the area and found their spot on Unilocal.Picked up a Brisket sandwich and some soup. Both were great. Way above average. Everything tastes made from scratch, nice clever twists on traditional American food. Like Jalapeño cornbread I the soup. Simple idea but excellent. Do yourself a favor, if you’re like me and just passing through the area, take a quick two minutes of the highway, skip the fast food and support a really solid local business in a cute little old town square, with food that definitely backs up their good Unilocal!reviews. Keep up the good work. And my French Bulldog Gracie gives the food two paws up too.

Staying at Winstar Casino and found this gem nearby. Delicious food. The best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had. While all the chain restaurants around have closed, this local spot has thrived with its service, menu and atmosphere. We can’t wait to return.

Walking in, we seated ourselves and began to peruse the menu. Everything looked good, with plenty of variety in home style comfort food. I ordered the express lunch, with the corn chowder and club wrap, with a couple of rolls from the appetizers list. The rolls came out fresh and hot from the oven-simply incredible. The corn chowder was amazing as well. The club wrap was good, but not outstanding next to the chowder and rolls. My husband got the world’s best burger and it lived up to its name. I’m sure the bun was homemade and fresh as well. He also got sweet potato fries, which were better than any we’ve ever had. We went all out and got two desserts, just so we could try them: sopapilla cheesecake and a lemon bar, which we paired with some fresh coffee. Like I said, we were going all out with this lunch. The cheesecake was warmed, and melted in our mouths. The lemon bar was cool and refreshing. The owner’s husband stopped by, and we heard some of the renovation story. They really committed to the best. The exposed brick wall, which looks like it’s been there forever, was built specially, and the entire place was revamped. Quite cozy. Spectacular place. We will be coming back.

Okay… so I’m going to give them an A-OK even though I personally did not enjoy my visit at all, but I will explain why. I don’t think that the experience that I had should necessarily stop you from trying this restaurant. We were on our way to Winstar and wanted to find somewhere in Gainesville to have a quick lunch before we got there. I found Sarah’s though Unilocal!and read the reviews, menu, and looked through pictures and decided this was the place. The atmosphere is nice. It was not busy when we arrived just before lunch time. Being in the industry myself, and having many years of retail management experience makes me an extremely forgiving customer. I understand completely how when one little thing goes wrong, it can totally unravel lots of other things. The staff was having a very challenging morning(there was some water leaking onto the floor). I get it. I am not a fan of mixing sweet and savory as many people are nor do I like anything at all about sweet pickles. So as soon as I read the menu I realized that most of what had appealed to me(egg salad, tuna salad) had sweet pickle relish in it… ok… find something else… My mom is completely grain free so when the Applebees bartender goes to the back to inquire with the kitchen about their tortilla soup and comes back saying«They aren’t comlpletely sure, Ma’am, I’m so sorry» I tell her not to give them a hard time, those soups are made off site and delivered, but in a quaint, cozy small town square diner, I would expect someone to know what is in the tomato basil soup. The server didn’t even offer to try to ask anyone she just told my mom«I would suggest you just don’t eat soup because I can’t tell you there are no grains in them. Then she asked okay then can you do a choose two and just give me the salad and chicken to which the reply was simply«No». okay… She finally said I will take the turkey burger and before she could even finish her sentence«without a bun» the server quipped at her«Ma’am, buns have grains!» «yes, I’d like it just with the lettuce and other toppings, no bun. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and cheddar. Mom got sweet potato fries and I got the house made chips so we could try each others. My mom really enjoyed her turkey burger and the sweet potato fries too. They were nice and crispy. First bite of my burger all I tasted was cotton candy sweetness. Ahhh… I know this bun, I use this bun, in fact. Think King’s Hawaiian bread but maybe a bit sweeter even. People love them. My dad loves them. I use them with ham and cheese, not a burger, but ok… not their fault, just my personal preference so no problem… deconstruct burger… I often order bunless burgers anyway… no big deal except my cheese went with the bun… sad face. oh well, I’m over it… these chips look good… *crunch* hmm… the other guy’s review is right… they aren’t seasoned at all. He’s right, they need a sauce. I surveyed the table several times hoping I missed some ranch dressing or Raising Caines sauce or something. They’re nice and crispy but because they are you can’t salt them… they need help. Maybe a trio of chipotle ketchup, garlic aioli, and buttermilk ranch… I dipped them in my imaginary sauces and that would work! Oh, one more thing, they have a tea of the day, it was peach. I assumed peach tea would be sweetened. They only serve unsweet tea. Again, I get it, the sugars and sugar subs are on the tables, but you can’t make sweet tea with ice cold tea and solid sugar… IMHO if you’re in Texas you should offer sweetened tea made with simple syrup… it’s the only way it incorporates properly. Our«quick stop for lunch on the way to Winstar» took an hour and a half. It took forever at every step of the way, including after we’d given our payment. Everyone has *those* days…

Really nice and quaint little place in the downtown square of Gainsville. Their claim is to serve«The World’s Best Burger». It is pretty good, but it’s not the world’s best. But for Gainsville, it’s better than any of the fast food chains in town and far better than most in the DFW area. I could swear the menu said it was on a sourdough bun, but it was a brioche bun. Cheese is extra, and for an actual«hamburger», that was refreshing since most places automatically assume cheese should be there. Burger was dry, so make sure to request a side if you want it with mustard(you’re in texas, you want mustard on your burger…) Normally served with home made chips. The chips were unsalted, but tasted decent. Would prefer some ketchup with them if they’re normally unsalted. The rest of my group had a very nice chicken fried steak with gravy and green beans. Another had a pimento cheese sandwich which was described as an excellent example of what pimento cheese really ought to taste like in the stores. Overall the décor is nice(GIANTVEGGIEPEELER!) and they don’t force you to stare at TV’s to avoid conversation. Lemon bars were really good too…

Service was prompt and friendly, the place kind of feels like home. Had an appetizer of tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole and queso. Chips were warm and very fresh and the dips were very tasty!!! Had a burger with grilled onions and feta with fresh cut fries. Great burger and excellent fries. If you are passing through this is a few blocks off of I-35.

The atmosphere was beautiful vintage, each table was it’s own and very unique. The food was so good we called my parents and invited them to lunch. And my mother and I could not hold back from the dessert display. This was one of the best eating experiences we have had in quite a while!

This is the place to take people when they come to Gainesville. It’s such a cool building and it’s a classy casual dining experience. The food is a little middle-of-the-road for what it costs, but the service and atmosphere make up for it. The desserts are GREAT. Walk over to that little glass case and pick any piece of pie or cake or whatever and you’ll absolutely love it. It’s a great night if you go for dinner and stick around for dessert and coffee. Downtown Gainesville looks better through the windows of Sarah’s.

We walked in Sarah’s when we found the place across the street was closed, and that’s how you find a local gem! Set in a old saloon that was once had a brothel upstairs in the 1800’s, the décor is historic and novel The service was great and the food fantastic! The burgers were great and the sweet potato fries were as well. We shared a bowl of the tomato gin bisque, it was some of the best bisque we have had. A small apology is owed, we forgot to take photos of the desert, as that we fell into them like a pack of wolves. Tiff had Italian crème cake and I had the buttermilk chess pie. Frankly the desert was so good we are convinced that they are holding a couple of grandmothers hostage in the basement and forcing them to bake all these fresh delights!

3 words… CORNCRABCHOWDER! Yummy as in so good I want to go swimming in this soup bowl. And so rich I can’t eat it all but I’m willing to try. Visiting with my friend Cindy on a girls night out we found this place a few years ago and it continues to be a destination for us. She had harvest salad with pan seared salmon that she describes as soo delicious and Amazing. On this visit we were lucky to meet the owner and learn some of the history. Will remain a spot to go for us for many girl trips to come.
