One of my family members loves to shop there because of all the coupons and gift card rewards she receives. I find it a great place to buy name brand purses-especially on super sale! Staff members are usually friendly to us in the the handbags department.

I shop at Macy’s a lot and have for many years. I have shopped in Macy’s all over the Southeast. For a city the size of Gainesville, we were quite please at at the size of this Macy’s. I found the clerks in every department where I shopped to be friendly and very helpful. One lady in the men’s department went out of her way to help me find something. Found lots of items on sale. My wife and I found this Macy’s much nicer than the one in Daytona Beach. We have to drive to get to both of them. We will definitely be back to Gainesville before Daytona Beach. My experience at the Gainesville Macy’s was much more positive than the negative reviews here.

I will never step foot in the Gainesville Macy’s again. Partly because the buyer of the store only purchases trash. And partly because it has the worst sales/customer service reps anywhere. Myself and 5+ other ladies walking around jewelry and purses and not one person there to help us. No one even spoke to us. One couple looking at high end jewelry in the cases. No one went near the area. The other 4 ladies including myself looking at $ 300-$ 400 bags. The one girl that was in there never looked at, smiled at or went near any one of the customers. Another lady and her daughter that did want to purchase something had to go over to lingerie and get the woman there to check them out. I decided I wasn’t buying a bag from this store, I wouldn’t give my $$$ to them, but I found an inexpensive watch I thought I’d pick up quickly. I had to go find someone in the front of the store, complete opposite side of the store, to check me out because the woman and her daughter had so many freaking coupons that it was taking them 20 minutes to check out. The young girl in juniors that did check me out was rude and acted as if I was bothering her as well. I walked out just shaking my head. I’m serious I’m done I will never step foot in that store again. I’ll shop online. Shop local for jobs? Can’t do it, at least not there. And yes, I’m writing an email to the store manager and the corporate office. Doubt it will help, how can they NOTKNOW this is going on?

I bought sheets a few months back and noticed today that they were ripped in the seam of the fitted sheet. I called the store to see if I could exchange them and he said look for my receipt and packaging. I told him I had neither but couldn’t they look up my receipt. I proceeded to go to the store to show them the sheets and hopefully exchange them. I was treated very rudely but finally did get an exchange with almost a scolding to next time to save my receipt and the packaging. Macy’s won’t have to worry. I will be closing my account as soon as I pay off my next bill due to poor customer service!

I had a giftcard here… I have’nt really shopped here on my own accord, but I was very happy with all of the items I purchased with my giftcard. I got a lot of items that were on sale, so I walked away with some really great deals. The staff was very helpful when I found a pair of pants that didn’t have a tag. It was also a great surprise to learn that they were staying open late around the holidays.

This location has to be the smallest Macy’s I have ever been in. There is also not much of a selection here either. The whole time I was walking around browsing I just couldn’t shake the feeling of each department feeling cramped together in this small store. The staff weren’t all that helpful either, except for the woman who pointed me to the department I was looking to go to. I usually save my Macy’s visits for when I go to Orlando, which I visit quite often. I think I shall just keep it that way from now on.

As a regular Macy’s shopper I had high expectations. I love going to Macy’s and this is where I do the majority of my clothing, bedding and housewares shopping. I have visited many different Macy’s in the state of Florida and other states. Personally I think that this Macy’s is one of the worst in merchandise that I have seen. As a college student I do not want to dress like I am in my 50’s(nothing against that age, I just haven’t reached it yet), and majority of the clothes that this Macy’s carries make me look this age. This is very sad considering that the University of Florida is less than 10 miles away and there are many students that would shop here. The shoe department is average and has a wide selection, still nothing that is my taste but I have seen many people buy shoes from here and have seen shoes that are at great prices. The housewares section is small and consists of very upscale dish wares. Deals can be found though. There can be deals on sheet sets and pillows but one must be patient to find them. All of the staff are very nice and I have only ever had one problem. This was when I wanted to do a return and no one was at any of the counters. After almost ten minutes someone did arrive and there were no issues, I was then done in about two minutes. Overall, I love Macy’s but I do not go to this store very often if at all. There is a limited clothing selection and deals are few and far between. I will add that you get an extra discount if you use your Macy’s card to make your purchase. The best part about having a Macy’s card is that you can pay off the balance right there in the store! They will also send coupons frequently for additional discounts. I have gotten many 20% off entire purchase and $ 20 off your purchase of $ 50 or more.

Shoe Department — Excellent, friendly and responsive service. Props to Joseph, salesperson who assisted me. I’d bought shoes out of state at another Macys. Didn’t keep box or receipt. Within 2 months one of the shoes fell apart, not from use/wear and tear. I called and then came in the store, they took the(non-Macys) credit card I’d used and allowed me to return/exchange the shoes. Joseph was great. I like shopping here, I always get great service — attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. I wish the store was bigger but we’re in a small town. This is my go-to department store here in small Gainesville. :)
