Located in a strip mall that is really a portal machine to travel back to Mexico. Authentic delicious food with a kicking salsa bar. I enjoyed the Mexican BBQ goat tacos! So tender and yummy. Not tough like goat can be sometimes. I tried out a spicy coleslaw made with cabbage, carrots, pepper flakes and a mild vinegar. so good! Their avocado and tomatillo sauce is divine. I ordered fried plantains which were the perfect dessert after the spice. The place looked clean and bright with colorful artwork hanging on the walls.

First time trying this place. This is more of a fast food mexican restaurant. I was disappointed to find out chips did not come with our meals. However, the person who took our order was so nice and knew this was our first time so she gave us a free basket of chips. The menu is a little shorter then most mexican restaurants but they will make just about anything you want. I ordered a meal with chicken and although it was seasoned good I was disappointed that the meat was dark meat when normally the meal comes with white meat. They also have a nice toppings bar. Overall nice place and nice people.

Always consistent food. Tacos are great. Quesadillas as wonderful. The salsa bar is always well stocked. A good mix of Latinos and non-Hispanics. All in all, a great place.

This has become a staple for us. I love the carne asada so I have that in tacos, flautas and in an platter. The platters are huge. They come with beans, rice, salad, fresh avocado and all you want from a toppings bar. I love their onions! They are friendly, helpful clean and seem to be very authentic. Reasonably priced so we can have dinner for under $ 20 total. We keep going back and love it. ***upate. We were there a week or so ago(mid aug 13). Food continues to be great however! While we were there, I was sitting in a booth and thought it was neat that I could watch them cook my food. Moments after I commented how interesting it was to watch, I saw them drop my food on th floor. The man cooking looked around, picked it up, and asked a lady what to do. She took it, and added some cheese and proceeded to give it to us. When we asked if she dropped it, she said she didnt understand english. So, we said it in spanish. she said«oh was it dropped»? She said sorry and re made the dish. When it was done she gave us the new dish and said she was sorry. We love th food but now I am timid in going back. They dropped it and when they were caught, didn’t really know what to do especially when they realized my husband spoke fluent Spanish. I will have to wait before going back. Watch them make your food. It is really good, but it might have been on the floor.

What a find — this place is as authentic as it gets. Most patrons speak Spanish but the staff is friendly and very patient with those of us who do not. Tacos come with meat and cheese(if you want it) and you add your toppings at the fresh salsa bar. Tired of beef or chicken? No problem, tripe and marinated cow head is available, as are fish tacos. I had the shredded chicken tacos and my husband had the pollo a la plancha — nice spices and great refried beans and rice on the side. Soft drinks are available in bottles(have a Fanta orange!) or as fountain drinks. Mexican sandwiches are also available as is a kid’s menu. The place is packed on Sundays so plan accordingly!

Excellent authentic style Mexican food. The tacos are excellent and you are able to choose from a wide variety of meats. The staff are very friendly and helpful to this non-Mexican. The only complaint I can find about this place is the seats in the shop aren’t very comfortable. I recommend the cecina or the al pastor meat for your tacos. The tamales are also great! La Taqueria is a fantastic way to step outside the normal Tex-Mex style Mexican.

Some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine in the area. This is the Taqueria I have been searching for. They have a salsa bar that includes grilled onions, roasted jalepenos and a «slaw» that goes great on top of the tacos. Their hot salsa is great, not too hot but still very flavorful. The staff is friendly and the food is out of this world delicious. The Chorizo Chipotle Burrito is a must try!

My father-in-law did a quick search for some Mexican in the area and found La Taqueria. The only ratings we found were on Urban Spoon and Trip Advisor, and they were high, so we figured we’d give it a shot. A few disclaimers: Being Mexican, I grew up with authentic dishes and different flavors than what you’d get at most Tex-Mex places. We definitely weren’t looking for just tacos and burritos. We could have gone to Moe’s for that. My father-in-law subscribes to what I lovingly call the blow job theory: even bad Mexican is still good. I also spend quite a bit of time in San Diego, and if I’m not eating sushi, I’m eating Mexican because you can’t always find authentic dishes prepared so amazingly well on the East Coast. And sorry for the stereotype of my people, but I see a lot of you out and about, so I assume there’s going to be good food somewhere with a Mexican place in this area. With disclaimers out of the way, imagine our surprise when we ordered take-out, open our meals at home, and were so disgusted with what was on our plates that we couldn’t eat it. Between the three of us, this has NEVER. HAPPENED. BEFORE. Not with Mexican. The meat was mostly fat and bland as cardboard(I’m almost afraid to ask if it was horse), our tortillas were meh, the beans were gross, and our vegetables were wilted. There wasn’t much that was salvageable across three plates since it didn’t seem to matter what we ordered– it was all bad. I had never been so disappointed by a meal. At some point in the future, we may give it another shot if we are in the mood for Mexican and too lazy to go elsewhere, but with plenty of other options within driving distance, it might be a while.
