I love this chain. This place however has one person that is tentative to the door and customers and everyone else hides in the back. I walked in twice and waited for at least ten minutes both times. The first time I walked away but the second time I waited until I got help. I drove out almost thirty minutes to get to this mall to get some tea. I hope the service gets better here. I gave an extra star for cleanliness.

The tea is good but I went to the tea stand today and there was a roach on it. See pictures. This place is not sanitary.

Now that I’m getting back into drinking tea again I knew I wanted good loose leaf tea and Teavana knows their stuff. At this location? Specifically ask for Kenny! He knew about this tea I drank in college all the time called Russian Caravan and although they didn’t carry it he worked with me to make a blend that is SO close to it. The kind of one-on-one attention you can get and customization from high quality teas is something very unique to an establishment like Teavana, you can’t walk into a grocery store or any old coffee shop and get this. Yes, they’re a chain, but they clearly put in the effort to find great employees and train them well. It’s very appreciated, I just wish they were a touch less expensive! But, tea lasts a long time so it’s an investment.

Long story short, tldr– good tea, bad prices. They have a nice selection of tea here and the staff is nice and knowledgeable. If you’re looking for tea gear or new to tea I suppose this place would be a nice start. The staff knows what they’re talking about and are happy to help. That said, they are incredibly pushy and will try their hardest to sell as much as possible. The tea is of good quality but it’s ridiculously expensive. It’s worth it to go here if you don’t know what to try and get the advice, but if you know what you like, go to an online retailer. You’ll pay 3 – 4 times more here than you would pay at other places and the tea isn’t that much better quality to justify the higher prices.

I’ve gone to a few different locations, and this one more than once. There’s definitely been times I’ve wanted to give this location two stars just because of the cloddy, pushy salesmanship. The last time I went, there was an older gentleman with a mustache and long hair who helped me and while he wasn’t that friendly, he did answer my questions and helped me choose from the flavors that I liked. I spent probably a good twenty minutes picking out my tea and had him brew up a cup of one. I ended up not liking the flavor of the brewed tea, which was great because I didn’t waste $ 15+ on two ounces of it, and he was nice enough to take it off of my list of charges. If you like cherry flavored lifesavers, there’s a cherry flavor white tea you might like, but when it brews up, it’s so utterly one note it’s bland :( I’ve mostly been experimenting with the white teas lately, but have recently been turned on to the yerba mate blends as well. There’s a dark chocolate mate that’s really good, and I’m also a big fan of the crème brûlée white tea. I do have to say that I’m not a big fan of how Teavana works, and there’s tons on different forums from customers and employees alike saying how mostly Teavana doesn’t work for them if it weren’t for the fact that they do have really good tea. I’ve started to research loose leaf tea places in the area and there are a few. So perhaps Teavana’s score will go down in comparison, or perhaps it will stay the same. And, for the tea-virgins, if you want tea tins that badly, you can get them for much cheaper elsewhere, so do not get suckered in.

Teavana has some decent tea, but is I think it is fairly overpriced for what you get. Something about the place rubs me the wrong way. Maybe they are trying too hard to sell some sort of «tea experience». Tea has been around for a long time. You add water and drink it. I’d prefer if they just offered lots of tea variety at decent prices. That being said, Teavana is the only place close by with good quality tea, and definitely the only place with loose leaf tea, so I do go there and spend money. I would recommend for anyone new to tea to visit Teavana to sample different types of teas.
