They are a great place. Very friendly, nice and clean. The food is great, just wish it was a little more spicy. I’ll continue to go as often as I do.

Just had lunch here for the first time and it was really good! I ordered the taco salad and was happy with the portion and quality. Also, the avocados were fresh! I hate when they are already browning. Decent little spot and looked pretty clean. Overall very pleased.

I found out about this place because a gentleman came into our office & gave us a flyer. My colleague & I decided to give it a try & I’m glad we did! It was funny because the gentleman that dropped off the flyer was also the one taking our orders. It’s very small in the restaurant but their menu is huge & serve a variety of items. The usual burritos, tacos, enchiladas etc. One thing that stood out was that they also have pupusas which is actually a Salvadorian dish, so next time I’d like to try it to see how it is. Anyways I ordered the chicken taco salad & it was really good! Good portion, had mashed beans, rice, lettuce, onions & fresh avocados! I tried both of their green salsas & they weren’t too hot but gave just enough spice. I like my salsa extremely hot but these are good if you’re not a fan of ridiculously hot salsa. Overall I really liked it & will be going back P. s. the horchata is delicious, not too sweet.

2.5 Stars… First time I came here in February the place was on point, the salsa was plentiful at the salsa bar and the menudo was in the top 3 all time I’ve ever eaten. The flavor was amazing, the amount of tripe was overwhelming almost and so tender which can be hard for the part of the animal that comes from. The special little chili/spice blend that accompanies the dish is awesome and adds so much spiciness to the bowl I was in Mexican heaven The second time I ate here I had the same thing and sadly the quality was poor. First off the salsa bar was more like the evaporated bar because all of what was supposed to be there in salsa wasn’t there. The guy who took my order was basically disinterested in taking my order and I could tell because I asked for some chips and I never received them. The menudo was missing some of the flavor from my first visit and the tortillas that I had with the menudo were tearing apart and all cracked. The experience was surely forgettable but sadly I am still writing about it so it hasn’t faded from my memory. I am disappointed with this place and I won’t be coming back. If the owners change again or if my Unilocal peeps tell me to give it another shot I will otherwise my journey is done here.

I heard great things about this place so I was very excited to try it. I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito… What I really got was a burrito filled with sliced hot dogs… I was pretty disappointed. I don’t know if I will go back because now I cannot trust what will be in my burrito.

Awesome. Nothing is better than their Wet Burrito! Place is somewhat tight, but the food is worth it.

Awesome breakfast burritos. Some kf the best in town. I call in and order and they are always ready when I get there. Good size and made to order so they are always fresh. The green salsa on the bacon burrito with extra cheese… My fav!

Went to Maria’s the other day for the first time in a couple of years. This used to be a regular destination for some of us who had corporate training not-so-far away, and I loved it every time. I didn’t love it this time. Did the ownership change? Are my memories askew? Have my taste buds evolved? Any of the above are possible, but it really didn’t live up to my expectations or memories. I walked in on a Tuesday night and I was the only customer there. In fact, the only other person who came in was a kid looking for a job. The menu up on the wall is pretty large, and there are pictures of everything so that makes it even larger; could probably do with a reduction in the size of the menu, to be honest. I ordered the chimichanga plate and went to the little salsa bar, which didn’t look so fresh. Really, the whole restaurant looked fairly dirty. I sat down — the wait wasn’t too long — got my food, and ate it. The two people behind the counter had a little argument in Spanish. She mopped the floor of the dining area, he listened to some mariachi music on the radio. I left. Maybe if I had just asked for a couple of tacos then it might have been better.

OK food. Place is clean. A little pricey for a taqueria. Have been in a couple times in the last month. Oddly enough no one has ever said thank you or smiled. The kid at the register acts like he’s doing you a favor to take your order. He really needs to find another place to work. He’s the kind of employee that I never had a problem firing. Best of luck to Maria’s…

I had a craving for pupusas and didn’t feel like driving to my normal spot, as it is across town. A friend had brought us pupusas from here and we liked them, so I figured why not. I wish I would have driven across town! First they completely screwed up our order. We ordered chicharrón only pupusas, as we hate that nasty cheese. Of course they gave us ones with the nasty ass cheese. We asked for the curtido and sauce on the side, and they didn’t even give it to us. Of course I failed to check the bags before we left, but damn should I really have to? It’s their job to give me what I paid for. These pupusas were the greasiest nastiest thing I’ve ever eaten. After about 3 bites, I knew I would end up sick if I continued eating them. Unfortunately my honey didn’t take my advice to not eat them, and she paid for it later. For 2 days she was sicker than hell with an upset tummy and of course major diarrhea. We also ordered chile rellenos. They were also greasy as hell and rather unpleasant. To take the cake, they left the entire seed pod intact! Who in the hell does that? You remove the damn seeds before you cook it. No one wants a mouthful of fricken seeds. I can honestly say I wasted $ 19 on this horrible meal! I will not go back, unless one of us is constipated, as their food is the instant cure for that!

It has reopened. Pretty good food. Big portions. I think the prices should be lower since it is a walk-up counter. $ 7 for small super nachos $ 5 for a quesadilla.

Different owners different menus. The super nacho isn’t like the original with nacho cheese sauce rather very dry with shredded cheese. The new owner is very stingy with the salsa bar. Red and green chili sauce and some cold fried jalapeño. No more pickled carrots, salsa, lime, etc. Miss the original. Merced’s Maria’s taco shop is still legit. Just wished the fresno one here had thr same old recipe/menu.

Probably not the most authentic Mexican food, but they have a distinct flavor that keeps me coming back for more! I used to go out of my way to hit that place up all the time. The salsa is really enjoy from there, oddly enough. Great little spot that I enjoy to frequent.

This place is very in-expensive and has a larger menu than most, they are very compromising and caring to their customers! The burritos are large and their nachos could be a bit bigger, but it was pretty yummy! I wouldn’t return back as often as I’d like(fear of gaining weight), but it is definitely worth having at least twice a month!

24 hrs, better than Robertito’s, that says it all. Food quality is rather variable, and sometimes not very authentic, but overall it’s ok. Not as good as the original location in Modesto. The carne asada tends to be overcooked and tough, the carnitas is sometimes good, but the chicken and shrimp are hella cheap and often great. Freshness is a real mixed bag, I’m always afraid of getting sick, but I haven’t yet. Like I said, it’s 24h and at 3 am you don’t have a lot of options for real food, so that alone is worth an extra star. Visits: 4

This place is horrible. You don’t know What those people put in your burrito. The chips were stale. The lady who took our order was socially dumb. The food was just dry and over seasoned. Small dining area. Its just miserably awful.

My friends and I, were on our way home from camping at Huntington Lake and we were in Fresno looking for Armenian food on a Sunday! Well little did we know that Fresno is a ghost town on Sundays. Maria’s Taco Shop was open and we went in. How funny that it was an old Taco Bell building and the new Taco Bell is located just across the street? Ha Ha! Their menu is filled with so many options. They take credit! Yes! And the food is huge and cheap. We are Bay Area locals and are used to smaller portions for these prices, so we ordered hella food. When our food came we felt like pigs, because hey we didn’t know that they were going to be generous. Everything was so good. I loved their refried beans, mmmmmm! If I’m ever back in Fresno the place to melt from the sun, I’ll go back to Maria’s Taco Shop.

If you can get past the humble reincarnated Taco Bell building, Maria’s serves some decent Mexican food. Quite an expansive menu for a small kitchen to handle. I had a combo plate w/a fish taco, carne asada taco and rice and beans. Each taco had two corn tortillas; one tortilla is fine for my belly. The hubby had chicken fajitas; he’s low carbing it, so they substituted all beans for the rice. Half of his platter was full of beans. Nice salsa bar w/radishes, pickled jalepenos and pickled carrots. Not much more than Taco Bell, but much better food. A steady stream of customers speaks to its offerings.
