Well this place is an another combo place. With combo, I mean a place where they sell groceries and as they are near to expire, use them in making curries and sell them in your restaurant Well place has pretty good variety and selection of Indian groceries and essentials, I would say probably largest in the area but I was surprised to see such less rush and I did find the reason very soon. That’s due to prices which are little on higher side, may be cost of having such a huge inventory :) For food, I would tend them to give full points as they do know how to make and garnish the food

Getting essential ingredients, like curry leaves, garam masala, and paneer is a head scratcher for an international student in america– especially in Fresno, or even for someone who is looking to cook a completely authentic indian recipe– where the essential ingredients are not simply available at the local trader joes or whole foods. The great news is, India sweet and spices not only carries a huge variety of ingredients to make that delicious pot of briyani, but it also carries a wide range of Indian toiletries, dried foods, frozen goods, teas, pots and pans(indian style), metal plates, bowls and glassware(like in india) and even sweet desserts such as freshly made indian cakes and ice cream. There is even a quick vegetarian restaurant located within this grocery, with seats and everything– and their food is good! Essentially the store is divided into 6 separate sections: 1. The frozen and perishable goods — where naan breads, parathas, paneer(goat cheese) and essential indian vegetables such as okras, methi(fenugreek leaves), brinjal, curry leaves and so much more is easily available year round. 2. The dessert bar– filled with 10 – 30 varieties of colorful authentic indian dessert(normally found in india), can be purchased by the piece or by the dozen. mix and matching is a great way to taste the different varieties of traditional indian desserts. Don’t also forget about the hand made conical shaped indian ice cream known as kulfi, only available as this store.(available in 5 – 6 different flavors) 3. The spice, tea, and dried rack — where you could get all the essential spaces like turmeric, cumin, coriander, dried mango powder, aniseed, black cardamom, cloves, garam masala, green cardamom, poppy seed(khus khus), saffron, tamarind and so much more. They also sell bitter gourd tea, and other lose leaf tea such as earl grey. 4. Fresh gourmet Indian street food/snacks — vegetarian options of all indian street food such as pani puri, pav bhaji, idli, dosa, vellayappam, yellow and black dhal, bhaji, samosas, paratha, poori and so much more. They are all affordable, prices ranges from $ 4– $ 9. There is even a proper seating area. 5. The pots, pans and utensils — every stainless pot, pan, glass, bowl, tiffin, utensil. serving bowl, cooker, masala dhaba, idli cooker, that one can imagine is available here. Someone who wants to cook and serve an indian meal in an authentic indian platter would find this place a heaven, and for an indian mum or student, this place would be the place to come to get your kitchen essentials as you arrive. 6. Indian costume jewelries and Praying goods. There are gorgeous indian costume jewelries and accessories perfect for a complete Indian dress up, everything from bangles to earnings and even slippers to compliment the whole look. Additionally this place sells all the indian god statues and prayer essentials, even holi powder– the colorful powder. They of course have henna and perfumes. Overall the store in my opinion is well stocked, and carries essentially everything to help me make an authentic indian cooking at home. The owners are also fairly friendly to help first timers. The size of this store is pretty impressive, since its quite big, there are plenty of parking located right in frontt of the store, and many more in its private lot. Definitely my to go for Indian essential grocery goods.

There is nothing better than paneer masala or gobi when you absolutely must have a quick Indian snack! The food here is all vegetarian, made to order and can be purchased for the individual or family. They have a wealth of grocery and household items and even a seating area should you want to eat immediately and enjoy the atmosphere of incense and buoyant East Indian music. It is such a treat to come here and be welcomed with a smile by the owner.

This place has excellent indian vegetarian dishes! The chaat here is my favorite! So flavorful and great portion. Almond milk is creamy. Masala dosa is so light and flavorful and cannot get enough of the samber!

This place is cheap, and the food was decent. But, the owner is a cunning crook, and tries to rip you off selling things you don’t want. Definitely avoid it. We stopped by this place for snacks. They have a good variety of vegetarian food. But the owner/shopkeeper is a guy who has trouble communicating in hindi and english(unless you speak punjabi). The north india dishes were decent. Dosas were below par. They messed up two of our orders. And the owner, did not even care to fix them after pointing out. He’s like«I’ve made it, so just have it». The prices seem cheaper, compared to the bay area; but we realized that most of the pickles that they had were really old(best before 2010). Definitely avoid this place. But, if you do go there, make sure to check the expiry date for the stuff you buy.

I love this place. Every time I’m craving Indian food in fresno area, I come here. They have really great sweets and snacks. Indian restaurants are pretty predictable with the same selection of food. It’s the taste that sets it apart and this restaurant is amazing with it. I recommend.

The good: The food was fresh and authentic, the place was super clean, and the assortment of sweets is unbeatable. The service was pleasant, and the Bollywood videos were entertaining. The bad: It was SUPER cold! It was colder inside than it was outside(54 degree weather outside). We were literally shaking while eating our food. The menu is not translated(though one can read it because it’s written in roman letters), and at the end, one is limited to ordering whatever comes to mind that seems familiar or one of the combos. So, translate the menu, please. :-) Oh, and the food, though tasty, was SUPER spicy hot! At the end, we couldn’t really discern what flavor was what because our mouths were on FUEGO!

This place is amazing! There’s delicious chaat, and a really clean, warm and cozy spot to sit and eat behind a latticed wooden screen. I love it. Best samosas in Fresno. Great desserts– they taste fresh. I’m driving up here for my Indian food from now on.

this place is sweet! moving from the seattle area to here, i was afraid i’d find no south indian or vegetarian indian places. well, so far there are two restaurants that serve south indian food! and this one i found thanks to another Unilocal review. and it seems to be all vegetarian, as well. with a huge grocery store. indian fast food! the food is amazingly cheap($ 3 – 5 for a dish, but you may want two depending on what you order). the chaat we had was really good. the dosa wasn’t as good as we were expecting, but it’s decent and cheap. our experience there reminded of us being in india. it’s a really unique place, and i haven’t seen another place like it in this country. the folks who took our order were friendly, and tried to upsell(which they do in india). it’s a neat little pocket of fresno and we’ll be going back when we get a chance. i also heard on help that the other indian restaurant next door is cheap, so we’ll have to try that. this place might be better to get the food to go if you’re used to a traditional dining experience. there are a few tables in the back. in sum, this place is cheap, has good food, is all-veg, is friendly, and in my opinion authentic. what a neat find!

A cheap and yummy all-vegetarian Indian fast food restaurant inside a small supermarket. You will need to know something about Indian food to order here, the menu board is not translated to English. I recommend trying the Chana Bhatura(a garbanzo curry) and they have very good Masala Dosa, a wonderful potato curry thing wrapped in a delicious pancake. Yummy food and not expensive. If you don’t want to eat in the supermarket ambience get your order to go.
