Just had lunch here. If you come with the right expectations, you’ll enjoy it. This is not a gourmet restaurant but the lunch buffet is very good. I lived in the San Jose area for years so I’ve had some GOOD Indian food. I was greeted immediately, though there were only a couple other people in for lunch at the moment. I had chicken makhani and chicken curry with a veggie dish and naan. The naan was interesting. It came piping hot, looked like it had butter or oil basted on it but was much lighter and flakier than most that I’ve had. Almost like really thin pizza crust. I actually really enjoyed it. The makhani was very very good. Nice and buttery and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I didn’t try anything else but this is a solid place for lunch. Patronize your local small businesses!

~This review is for a lunch buffet experience only~ I visited Curry House for the first time today, and I must admit that I made a good choice in coming here for the lunch buffet. The restaurant was clean, half-full, and we were served immediately with water and our choice of plain or garlic naan. The buffet seems to be all-you-can-eat(I didn’t test this, because I probably could’ve fit more in my stomach if I tried), but I was pleasantly surprised with the preceding salad bar and fruit at the end. Probably the only reason I don’t like Indian food is the lack of fresh, cool food, and being able to have salad and fruit with my rice and curries was an awesome experience. The buffet is kept warm(or cool, depending on what dish is in it. Even being there an hour after the buffet started, I didn’t question the integrity of any of the food. Our waiter told us that they have different dishes on a daily basis in their buffet, which is nice to know, as that tipped my decision in favor of visiting again. Also, the buffet is $ 10 per person, which is pretty good deal for all-you-can-eat Indian. I got mango lassi in addition to it, and the texture, temperature and flavor of the drink was spot on(I’ve had bad mango lassi before, this was definitely on the top end of my spectrum). Also, even though the buffet had a dessert option, I wanted to try the Rasmalai. Theirs turned out to be a bit sweeter than other locations in town, and didn’t seem to have pistachio in it. However, it was a cooler temperature and just as tasty, it simply wasn’t my favorite. As for the lunch dishes, I was pleased with the flavor of my curry and masala, as well as the pakora, which wasn’t greasy. I would absolutely come back for another lunch meal here due to the reasonable price and every changing dishes. As they only had chicken this time, I’d love to try some lamb or goat, as well as a korma, and then I’d be happy to give them five stars!

Curry House. What we ordered: Samosa Chicken Bryani(Spicy) Chicken Pakora Some bomb chicken in tomato sauce. Balti chicken? Garlic Naan We are always deciding what to eat. And so we decided to go try out another Indian restaurant. To date, we’ve only dine at two restaurants(Brahma Bull and Standard Spices). The most memorable part of Brahma bull is the tandori chicken and their lentil soup. I can’t recall what else I ordered. Standard Spices is where I first had chicken briyani, and it was mind blowing. We had curry, butter chicken, and naan as well at Standard, but the chicken briyani is what really left a marked. The two items that stood out the most from Curry house for this visit was the Chicken Pakora and the chicken briyani. «Indian popcorn chicken,» that’s what my bro call it, but it’s so much more tasty than popcorn chicken. Popcorn chicken can get hard, and dried and I am talking about both the western and eastern variation. The batter that chicken pakora is covered in is different. It’s a bit thicker but it keep the chicken moist. It’s crispy as well. There weren’t any that were left out for too long because we ate it all so I can’t tell you if it’ll get hard and stale. The portion for it was an abundance as well. Almost got full off this appetizer. Highly recommend for those that have a desire for any fowl, battered and bathed in boiling cooking oil. Next is the chicken briyani. They gave the choice of regular, mild and spicy. I chose spicy. Waiter said«It’s real spicy,» possibly he was thinking of my well being but I took that as a challenge. I have to apologize to my baby, she don’t like spicy, but after all of our food outings, her tolerance for spicy food has increased. He wasn’t kidding, it was spicy and very good. It’s just the right amount of painful. Not enough to bring tears like the Atomic Sauce at Wingstop, and not as potent as the Nuclear BBQ Sauce from Maw and Paw(or is it Paw and Maw), but still satisfying. I like it when the food really is spicy after the warning. So many places say they have spicy food, that it’s hot, be careful, but once you try, you’re disappointed by the lack of heat and the over inflated warning. I will definitely return for some fried chicken, I mean Chicken Pakora. The briyani is good enough to back for lunch the next day. Servings there are a good size. Service was good as well. We were the first there for their Sunday dinner hours, it was slow, but as people started to trickle in, the servers were still very attentive.

Excellent buffet. The food is varied, complex and very good. Smell and taste the type of food that has been eaten for a thousand years. The naan is also fantastic. Service was good, too. Love Indian food! –G

My favorite place to get Indian food. My review is only based on the lunch buffet and I love it! I’ve been here multiple times and have not been disappointed once. I love their Dal here and enjoy the difference curries especially if I’m not sure what to get. The garlic naan is always fresh and service is adequate. Plus, the price for a lunch buffet under $ 10 is awesome. I tried other Indian buffets for lunch and they hover around the $ 15 mark.

Concern for those watching their health — soooo salty. Chef! Salt can always be added but not taken away. Other than that, my take out meal was good.

I came here last Sunday. It was raining, I was out shopping with my friends, and the one thing I as an Indian crave during the rain is pakoras and samosas. So of course I would want to go find the nearest Indian restaurant and get much some. As soon as we walked in I noticed the familiar décor I see in my uncles house in Surrey BC, the Indian painting I mean. And of course the Bollywood music blasting away my favorite songs. All good so far. The buffet was set up already which the server told us, but that’s all they told us, gave us our water as requested and we never heard from those ladies again! The buffet had the traditional set up of food like butter chicken, saag, Paneer masala, daal makhni, etc. And of course the samosas! So good! I ate about two or three, have to feed that fat Punjabi kid inside of me, right?! But I have to say, even with my craving being satisfied, there was still a lot that was missed. The buffet needed a fresh amount of products, because it seemed like they were their awhile. The taste was not that of what I’ve been familiar with. I love my Indian food full of spices and lots of flavor, this was a miss. The samosas were on point for sure, but not the rest of my meal. And now we come to the staff. It took the two ladies working close to 15⁄20 mins to even acknowledge us when we needed either a soda, or a box to go. After the general rush had left it was only us girls left to attend to, so I didn’t understand the need to be so neglectful towards us. We wanted to get going and head onto more shopping endeavors, but we were too busy waving down the hostesses just to get small items. I did not appreciate that, nor would anyone else for that matter. So, just that little bit of fine tuning and I’m sure this little gem of a place will shine. And here’s hoping I’ll be back on another beautiful rainy day.

Took the family there to try the buffet. The food was good but service was horrible. We were ignored, and had to stack plates to make space! We were surprised with how bad was the service as they only had 4 tables occupied. Waitress only checked on us one time and filled up the water. We might try them again.

Was looking for a good Indian restaurant and remembered I was told about this place. Ordered the goat and lamb and was very pleased, added a beer and the magic happened. Had some soup ordered to go(lunch) and the night was complete. Enjoy.

Service was horrible, food was mediocre, will not come back. They ignored us and served an Indian family first even though we were there first and ordered first.

Was very disappointed!!! we came into the buffet lunch hour under the assumption the food would of been made in earlier hours. instead the food presented in the buffet line seemed days old the salad bar half empty the iceberg lettuce looked withered away the red onions have seen better days the tandoori chicken was dry as if been reheated several times the paneer was passable but the rest was just old food period I’ve had better Indian food in LA and in the Bay Area it’s sad Fresno has nothing to offer :(service was mediocre

So far this is our favorite Indian food place in town. We tried a different place called sweets & spice co. or something but it just didn’t stack up to our usual. My wife gets the chicken korma and I get the jalfrazi(sp?) with naan and saffron rice or some kind of special rice and it is so good. Definitely sates the craving when it comes.

I came for a weekday dinner, and at first my roommate and I were a little apprehensive since no one else was there. The restaurant itself was very nice inside with warm décor. We got vegetable pakora to start, and we were immediately impressed by the mint and tamarind chutneys. You could tell that fresh ingredients were used without any artificial coloring. Then, I got a sweet yogurt lassi, and I loved the tart taste of the yogurt. We were getting pretty excited about our meal. As we were eating 3 other couples came in(felt a little vindicated that they were all of South Asian descent). Then, our entrees came. We got the chicken biryani and bhindi masala with some garlic naan. The first thin we noticed was how fresh the naan looked, and our eyes did not deceive us. The naan was crisp, fluffy, and topped with fresh garlic. Everything was delicious! We’ll be back again! Plus, we had plenty of left overs.

I’ve been here four or five times(one lunch buffet and the rest for dinner), and every time I leave there I’ve eaten way too much and said it’s the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The tandoori chicken is one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had, of any ethnicity. It’s insane. The lentil soup is amazing, especially when spooned out with garlic naan, and the chicken tikka masala is the best I’ve had. The service isn’t exceptional, but I really don’t go to this type of place for stellar service. I go here to eat way more than I should, and love every minute of the impending food coma… maybe that’s why I eat here for dinner. You will not be disappointed with the food here, it’s fantastic!

We are in search of a great indian food restaurant. So given that this place had decent reviews and not in an area where you get car jacked, I thought we’d give it a try. The food is very good and the service sub-par. Vindaloo sauce is not spicy(I requested indian hot) but the lamb it covered was cooled perfectly. Service was missing even though there were not very many people in the restaurant. People were pleasant enough but not attentive. Dishes were bussed using a cart which was a little gross. We expect more in a sit down restaurant. We will eat there again but probably for takeout only since the food is very good.

We were looking for an Indian restaurant to have dinner when passing through Fresno so a quick Unilocal search threw up Curry House Indian Bistro & Bar with good ratings so we decided to give it a try. Curry House Indian Bistro & Bar is located on the outskirts of Fresno in a large plaza that we were able to find effortlessly. At 9 p.m. when we entered the restaurant was almost 70% full and even though the host cum server saw us standing at the door he proceed to ignore us till he had cleared and setup the table that he showed us to. I mean how difficult would it be to acknowledge our presence and let us know that there will be a 10 minute wait till the table is ready rather than making us just hang around. Anyway, after being seated we quickly placed our orders as the closing time was 10 pm. We got Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat curry, Dal Makhani, Saag and Chicken Biryani along with some naan and roti. When asked for the level of spice that we desired we went for spicy as we were all used to spicy Indian food. Price wise all the entrees were in the $ 13 to $ 16 range and bread in the $ 2 to $ 3 range a piece which is typical of Indian restaurants. The food was out pretty fast in the next 10 minutes or so. Taste wise it was a disaster. It seems that they had taken regular dishes and then added tons of chilies into then to get them to the«spicy» level. Everyone in our party is able to handle spicy Indian food, but every dish here just seemed to taste of chilies and nothing else. I can appreciate heat through the use of spices but don’t want to deal with burning lips with every bite. We literally had to take a sip of water after every bite to get anything down. Even the biryani suffered the same fate which killed its taste. The saag was a joke and tasted more like just plain palak(spinach) with cream and chilies. All doubts about the authenticity of dishes here was put to rest after the first bite. I later learned that Curry House Indian Bistro & Bar serves a buffet during lunch so it seems that they took the food that is served in the buffet added tons of chilies to it to make it «spicy» and served that to us during the dinner service(I may be wrong but that’s my take based on what I ate). If this is what passes for«good» Indian food in Fresno then all that I can say is that I’ve been spoilt rotten in LA and feel bad for the people of Fresno. My advise to anyone dining here is to go for the medium spicy level so that you can at-least taste what you are eating. Having tons of chilies tossed into food that burns your lips does not constitute good Indian food. I left extremely dissatisfied so will not be returning here.

BESTINDIANRESTAURANTINFRESNO. Their buffet offers tons of options, vegetarian and non-veg. Their butter chicken and paneer are the best I’ve ever had, ANYWHERE. Their food is fresh, made to order on the menu and each dish is better than the last. Thanks for keeping Indian food, simple delicious and affordable. az
