My father got had by Capt. Mark seafood in Freeport. He called me all excited that he got his hands on some oysters and when he got home he was upset because he got ripped off! He paid for 3 quarts of Oysters and got the containers with 1⁄3 filled with water. He called them and was told that’s how Louisiana sent them and they passed the buck to the customer. He went to Poor Boys and got a true quart with little water. He was cutting onions and found him crying…

They do great work here! Fresh seafood and pretty darn fast at cleaning up your fish for you.

Nothing special. Low selection but the shrimp was good and the price was average. Clerk was rushed and it smelled but i gues it is a fish market.

Capt. Marks is the bomb. I truly feel sorry for people who have to buy seafood that has traveled several days and nights to display. It comes from the boat to Capt. Mark’s. The fish and shrimp are always fresh. The place is clean. The prices are well below supermarket. I go there once or twice a week.

Been in Capt Mark’s many times over the years and they have always been super friendly and very helpful. It is true that you can find cheaper quality seafood but you better be ready for a 2 hour roundtrip. Last weekend we picked up crawfish and they were in great shape. We had very little dead loss and the size was very good. Additionally, I only had to wash them once to get them purged and clean. When you have over 100 lbs staring you down it makes your day that much easier. The staff even loaded and iced them for me. Thanks for selling quality seafood and taking the time to make customers feel welcome.

We buy from here Everytime if not at Rudy’s seafood and we love it because it’s always fresh and plus the employees are friendly when we go.

This is one of my favorite places in Freeport/surfside. The guys are always so friendly and the fish is always super fresh! Yes, it’s stinky. But it’s a fish market! & it’s very clean! Leave a tip for the guys that clean your fish!

I’ve never been disappointed since my first visit in 2007! Their shrimp is always fresh, and they’ll sell you an entire fish, then clean it for you to take home and cook immediately on your grill! Did I say yummy yet? Do yourself a favor, if you’re in the Freeprt/Surfside area, and you want fresh seafood to go, Captain Mark’s needs to be your only choice! :)

Buried deep in the heart of Freeport. In response to another reviewer, I felt the prices are fair. I paid $ 8/lb for some medium sized shrimp that were great for boiling.

Small, fresh, limited selection but limited for the right reason: just what came in that day. Exactly as it should be.

I’ve been here a few times over the past couple of years. The seafood has always been fresh. They will de-vein the shrimp on request for free. I think the prices are a little steep, but this is the only fish market I’ve ever been to so I might not be the best person to ask. I have no problems recommending or going back.

Visited this market back in July during a trip to Surfside. I forgot to write a review, obviously… No complaints. A little stinky, but what fish market wouldn’t be? Great prices, and seriously– this largest«jumbo» shrimp this side of Houston. mmmmmm good. Was told they were caught the night before. Would have never found this place-thanks Unilocal
