Porky’s hamburger and onion ring company recently moved. I had eaten at their old building 904 west main. In the last 10 years porky’s has undergone 3 changes of business ownership. Having eaten ther tonight I’d say the quality of the food and service hasn’t changed too much. I had the flaming pig burger, a spicy mixture of beef and pork. The hand cut fries are the better selection in my opinion as opposed to spicy or what looks like prefab frozen food vendor fries. Thosr two selections might please some but I’ll stick with what I know. canned soft drinks and the usual sweetened and unsweetened teas. Looks like at some point they’ll get their fountain drink machine up and running. Probably having a few growing pains. That said I am happy to report that it was as good as I recall from my last visit in the old place. Décor is ultra casual meets dive with plenty of room as opposed to way cramped quarters of the old place which was originally built in the 50’s as a residence. I give them 4 stars here which gives them room for some improvements. I’ll definitely be back.

My fiancé and I ran across this little place on our way to visit family. We were surprised by the wonderful taste of everything we tried. They have the best burgers that I think I’ve ever tasted, the meat is so flavorful and cooked to perfection. They have good quality ingredients and they have excellent chocolate shakes! Their French fries are perfect for dipping, and although I haven’t tasted their onion rings, they look fantastic!

What a great find. Visiting the area with family and lunch time arrived. We chose Porky’s based on the reviews and opinions of the onion rings. We were not disappointed. Burgers were juicy and very filling. I had the side of onion rings. They are HUGE and delicious. I couldn’t decide so we also had the tater tots and handcut fries. The portions are large! Definitely return when back in the area.

Incredible burgers– several varieties from a spicy pork /beef mix(Flaming Pig) to standard cheeseburgers. Selection of cheeses and add ons(mushrooms, guacamole, etc). Also you can customize your bun– plain, wheat, ciabatta, and jalapeño cheddar. Grilled Chicken and fried cod sandwiches, too, as well as patty melts. Fries, tater tots, and onion rings are all crispy and good. A large size feeds 4 people easily. It is a casual burger place that is great to visit after hiking Enchanted Rock!

Great burgers, although $ 7 – 8 apiece… They’re probably worth it… Passing through — plenty of parking out back, no need to find a spot then walk… Onion rings-YUM! Our go to spot to eat in Fredricksburg!

This is a great find if you are wanting an exceptional hamburger. I had the Porky’s Burger and chocolate shake. Delicious! Fresh beef everyday. Also several Pork and chicken items on menu. We showed up around 1PM and they ran out of the fresh beef shortly after our order. Friendly staff. They hung the sold out sign and turned away a couple dozen folks. No compromising their quality!

Hamburgers and malts are at the top of my food chain; I’ve tried them everywhere my travels take me. Since the new ownership, they are without a doubt, the best you will find ANYWHERE. I ate there 6+ times in 3 weeks — never a bad experience. For the first time, I would strongly suggest ignoring the negative reviews — a couple are absurd. Porky’s use fresh meat from a local butcher; the malts actually feature real ice cream. And the buns are so fresh, twice i witnessed customers buying some to take home. If you don’t stop while in Fredericksburg, you are missing out.

Moved here to this part of Texas from Louisiana and found the reviews for this place. It is pretty good, not bad and once you think about it why bother wasting money at fast food places when they come out to about the same price as this ‘greasy spoon’ type hole in the wall? I would dine in, nothing fancy here just a quick burger made fresh and good. The place is on the edge of town and the hours it has are 11−4pm and Friday its open until 8pm. I’d have rated it perfect, as it is good but was disappointed that recently had a ‘to go’ order and I got dinged for more with what was a ‘take out tax’. It was very expensive, more so than dining in. I don’t know if that is something new, or I got rooked this once, but that was very disappointing to know and find out. If its new or regularly done, then they should also add the $ 5 dollar milk shake from Pulp Fiction, no bourbon or alcohol in it, but just a $ 5 shake, milk and ice cream just because, but«that’s a pretty f’n good milkshake

I have eaten a LOT of good burgers, the best burger is usually at my house. Well not today. When I pulled up to the restaurant with my family in tow, they had second thoughts when they saw the exterior. The building most likely was a home that is well over 80 years old. Inside was small with lots of friendly patrons. A true old time burger joint. FRESHCUTFRIES, hand made onion rings, and burgers with good char and juicy. Cheese was ultra gooey and fixings very fresh. The hamburger meat comes fresh daily from a local meat market. I will make the 22 mile trip to Fredericksburg again soon.

OMG. After walking around Fredericksburg we stumbled into Porky’s. The portions were awesome. I had the double-meat, cheese and jalapeño burger and my wife had the cheese burger. We also tried their fries and onion rings — all were exceptional. You have to stop in on your next trip to «F-town».

Ok burger. Nothing to go wow about. Nice people though. Onion Rings were good but really heavily battered. I wish I had a better review to share… I was expecting to be impressed.

The grilled chicken sandwich is great! It has a ton of flavor, and the toppings are very generous! Porky’s is a family favorite, and we always have to eat there when we are in town. The atmosphere is very cool, and the staff are very nice.

Delicious! At first I was a little hesitant because from the street it looks like a small house but after reading other reviews I figured I’d give it a shot. I live an hour and 45 minutes away so when I drive to town I go specifically to this other burger place so already this place had a lot to live up to. Well, they surpassed the other place! The jalapeño bun is fresh and not spicy. The flavors of the burger just perfect. I recommend adding hot sauce on the burger. OMG! My friend and I shared a large order of onion rings which was 9 and were too many because they were large in size so I would do a medium next time. The menu is small offering a Couple sandwiches, chicken choices and burgers but I’m sold on the burgers so I don’t really care about the other options haha. The woman at the counter was very polite and the food was prepared pretty quickly. The gentleman who delivered it and possibly the owner was very nice as well. Cost wise: I got a 6oz burger(biggest), can of soda, and a large order of onion rings and it was $ 14 and some change This is my new place to go to on my way to town. Next Time I’ll try the shakes and chili fries!

Great Hamburger. Made the way you like it. Fast friendly service. Onion rings I guess are Texan style. They are kind of heavy. Cute old place with atmosphere. I would strongly recommend it.

Here’s one of those great hole in the wall places. Driving San Antonio to Abilene, and wanted a burger. Of course, pulled up Unilocal and there is Porky’s. It’s an old converted house with parking in the back. My Porky’s special was great, as were the fries and onion rings. My hat’s off to the friendly staff and great service. We’ll be back.

Stopped for lunch and the steak fingers were great as well as the onion rings. Gravy was great. Staff was very friendly. They bring your food to you. Is on the edge of town on Main Street.

Great food awesome onion rings and fries. Burger was good. Only thing that sucked was the cashier. We barely made it prior to closing by 10 minutes. Let cashier know we were a group of 14 and were lacking 4. She told us if they weren’t there by 4 they were out if luck and wouldn’t be served. When our friends did get there at 4:05ALL the kitchen staff including the cashier left save and except a gentleman who was very understanding and didn’t rush us. Food was very good but unfortunately the female cashier and the kitchen staff sucked the last star from this review. Food was excellent service from the remaining male cashier was also great.

Now I know why onion rings are part of the name! The rings are huge and delicious. You know how most of the time the onion inside the breading doesn’t bite off cleanly and it pulls through and slaps you on the chin? Not these rings. I’m not sure how they do it, but the onion stays just crisp enough to bite off perfectly so you have breading and onion in every bite! Burgers are good too but not as notable as the rings. Nice sized, hand-made patties and lots of fresh lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, pickles and onion. They didn’t ask how we wanted them cooked and they came out at least medium-well. I like mine a little pink. Tip: One order of fries is plenty for two. Ours were just a tad soggy, though.
