Didn’t stop to eat the food, ambiance at drive up was disappointing and mini golf is gone. Bummer. Burgers and beer while my kids went wild on the backyard golf course would have been awesome!

Ownership has changed several times since Charlie started it but burger quality has remained good. One of our favorite burgers in town. Prices have gone up so be prepared for a $ 10 – 12 hamburger meal.

I had the chicken fried burger. Was tasteless. Husband had the steak quesadilla and he loved it. The curly fries were good. Probably will choose a different place before going back. They no longer have putt-​putt.

Food was great, service was great, prices were decent. It was a bit crowded during lunch time but that’s what you can expect for such great food.
I had the catfish which I thought was amazing.
Will go back if I’m ever in Fredericksburg again.

i’ve eaten here several times since I’m in town on an extended business trip. This place is unique in my experience. It’s a burger dive in the truest sense of the word. The counter and seating is nothing to write home about although they’re clean and functional. Staff extremely friendly. There is also a mini putt putt course out back which operates on the honor system ($ 5 bucks for adults I believe). BYOB but if you bring beer in, they’ll be happy to ice it down for you. The food is the main attraction though. Chicken Fried steak special on Wednesday night (awesome) is well worth going for. And just by the number of locals there, it’s popular. Their burgers (or anything else on the menu really) are huge and out of this world delicious. I’ll throw in a special plug for the Frito pie as well. Nutritionally, it’s a disaster I’m sure (along with the entire menu more than likely) but you don’t go there for healthy eating. I love this place though — it’s a must try in you’re anywhere near Fredericksburg.

Delicious inexpensive food, and very friendly staff. Miniature golf was also a lof of fun.
While waiting for our food my wife went to the restroom, and the toilet was running. She opened the top, fixed the chain, and while putting the ceramic lid back on, it slipped and broke into a couple pieces. When my wife told the owner what happened, he made sure my wife was okay, genuinely didn’t seem to care the toilet was broken, and then made a joke about how old the toilet was. When our food was ready, the owner was the one who brought us our food to our table. He then returned with an additional basket of fries (free of charge) because he said the fries in one of the baskets he brought us were too cooked – we disagreed and had not said a thing, but were happy to get free food.
Oh, also, it is BYOB, and they gave us a free bucket of ice (without us even asking for it) to keep our beer cold. This place is awesome!
I have nothing negative to say about this place, but do make sure to check their hours of operation before you go, because they are intermittent.

Great burgers and definitely a small town feel. Have been several times and the burgers have been great each time. Go for the curly fries. If you are going to block your arteries with fries anyway might as well do it twice as fast and enjoy it twice as much.
Love the honor system for the putt putt. We got their late one night (they do close at 8) and they just said just pay a few bucks since it was getting dark. Gotta like a laid back place like that.

Oh Hell Yeah! This place has some BOMB burgers! The jalapeño burger, on a cheddar jalapeño bun, is a must have… and yes, they do have beer. Really, this is one of the best burger places anywhere! Just as good as the Alamo Springs burger.

I’m glad the word about «Charlie’s» is getting out. The fantastic burgers are a great alternative to those turned away from Alamo Springs because of the crowds. These burgers are every bit as good (if not better) and the kids are welcome to run around and play endless rounds of miniature golf! The course is actually nicer than you might expect.
When you tire of Fredericksburg’s Main Street and need a place to kick back and let the kids go nuts, try Charlie’s…they do serve beer!

This is one of those «off the beaten path» kind of places that you wouldn’t know about unless someone told you it was there or if you just happen to be driving by and see it.
I was introduced to this place by some of the locals, and I’m glad I was. This is the best cheeseburger I can ever remember having. Not to mention that it’s served on your choice of bun (I like the sourdough), it’s huge, and comes with a mountain of french fries.
When I was eating here last week, the owner came by the table and I complimented him on the portions. His reply was, «I don’t want people to leave here hungry». And trust me, you won’t.

AWESOME BURGERS!!! So tender and juicy served on a sweet jalapeño bun. Yummmmmmmm…
For a small fee, you can even play 18 holes of miniature golf right outside. You pay via the honor system (depositing money in a small metal box on the wall) — something that wouldn’t fly in the big city.
Definitely stop by for the burgers. You won’t be disappointed.
