Fast service and good food! The deserts looked great, but we were too full to try them.

We’ve been meaning to try this place for a while and were pleasantly surprised by the many menu choices that are available and the great-​looking desserts. My husband and I shared a chicken pesto pizza for lunch. It was just the right amount of food, it was hot and tasty. I saved room to try some gelato. The pistachio was good, the mint was a little too minty. All in all we were happy! No complaints at all and we will be back. So happy we found something a little different than the regular chain restaurants in town.

I really had a good time here. The food was great, beyond my expectations. The cooking here is very nicely done, they must have a well managed kitchen. Way above average. An awesome lunch spot.
I ordered the Pesto Chicken Panini. marinated then grilled chicken sliced to just the right size, it was juicy and very flavorful. The pesto mayo, asiago cheese, tomato and arugula toppings were all great on the rustic style home baked bread. There are plenty of delicious sides to choose from as well.
I was only in Fredericksburg for the day just exploring the small town. I had such a great experience earlier I wanted to come back. I had to try the gelato so I ordered the pistachio on a friendly employee recommendation: Rich, creamy and just awesome.

This place is such a hidden gem! No one ever thinks to go to Cowan blvd for food, just central park, rt3 or downtown. Basilico is a «from scratch» heaven!
They make their noodles, the sauces, everything from scratch– that’s my kinda place. I have had the chicken pesto sandwich, which was delicious, the lobster bisque which could use more chunks of lobster but still had a great creamy and slightly sweet flavor, the penne with Alfredo and the carbonara with chicken.
The best thing I’ve had is the Alfredo with penne. The noodles capture more of the creamy Alfredo in them, and it’s so good that you don’t need to add anything else to it. The mac and cheese is really good with the cavatappi and they also have the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life!
I don’t love that you order at a counter, but it’s a pretty causal place so i guess it goes with the concept. You do have to order your desserts at a separate counter, which is so hard because everything looks amazing!
Bonus, they deliver until 4pm!

We returned back and wasn’t disappointed. The food was awesome and we are still salivating over the hazelnut gelato milk shakes.
Service is excellent and can’t wait to go back for more.

If I could give no stars. I would. My husband and I went here today… I ordered a simple Pick 2… Lobster Bisque soup and ½ tuna salad on TOASTED rye. The soup was literally fish flavored milk… GROSS not 1 piece of lobster, fish NOTHING! I went to a waitress (worker) and showed her the soup that it had nothing in it just broth. I asked if I could instead have the Minestrone… she said yes… she NEVER BROUGHT it out… she was in the back chatting with all the workers I waited over 10 min… at that point I was completely done with the ½ Tuna sandwich, which by the way the bread was not even toasted… how can you mess up something as simple as tuna on toasted rye.
Why do they call them selves an «Italian Deli»??? They ARE NOT… anyone from NY or anywhere that there is Italian Deli’s would laugh at this place calling themselves an Italian Deli. the only thing Italian is that they sell Gelato, cannoli’s and 1 or 2 other «Italian» pastries… big deal…
Terrible customer service … TERRIBLE. and certainly NOT an Italian Deli. Don’t waste your money go to Panera bread. better sandwiches and better soup.

Oh my goodness! Loved this place. There are many different items on their menu. I ordered the ½ Margherita and ½ Greek salad with an extra side, tomato and cucumber salad. They were perfectly prepared and very filling.
When I approached their dessert bar the first thing that popped in my head is… I just found heaven.
I wish I could have had at least one of each dessert they had to offer today. Of course, it was hard to be good but I managed to only choose one. Thanks to my son or I would have gotten 2 or 3. I chose a flaky pastry filled with vanilla custard and tops with a slice of glazed strawberry. Delious is an understatement. Mmmm mmm mmm :)
Why can’t we have one of these restaurants close to home in South Carolina. Maybe I should count it as a blessing, if here was one close by, I would be as big as a house. Yummy!!!

Delicious, fresh, this place is worth getting off of I-​95 ;) I had chicken panini with pasta salad and all flavours were on point!

Each time we come here the portions are getting smaller and smaller, sandwiches thinner akd thinner. Today, barely any pasta salad in the sides container, no pickles with the sandwiches and my fiancé comments that his sandwich barely had any meat on it. For the prices they charge, they should not be skimpy. we love the taste, and quality but the price is not matching the quantity received.

Just WOW! Ordered the chicken pesto panini and it tasted incredibly delicious and you can tell it was homemade with fresh ingredients. I don’t even know where to begin describing the desserts the Tiramisu is awesome. I definitely recommend this place as a lunch spot!

I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter: italian rum cake with raspberry moose. Well, they did beyond better than i could have asked for! The cake was covered in REAL whip cream and sliced almonds, like it should be. It was amazing!!! My 9year old loved it, and so did everyone else. The lemon cake was fantastic with the lemon custard, and chocolate rum custard with fresh raspberries! We are pretty snobby about our food and they surprised us. I am so glad we ordered from them, and it only took 48 hours! Thank you so much!

Stopped in on a Unilocal recommendation en route to north carolina. This place is a foodies delight. They are serious about food and how its presented. Their bakery is all in house and the pastries are ¹⁰⁄₁₀. I haven’t seen anything like it since I lived on Long Island. I had the cuban black bean soup, tuna salad sandwich, and a cannoli. All were exceptional. Their pride of place is evident throughout.

Go! Go! Go! Even if you are stopping off 95 or shopping at the mall, it’s worth a detour. Fresh, tasty food. The best eggplant Parmesan I’ve ever eaten. Great sandwiches. It’s worth buying a dessert, even if you don’t have room, for ‘later’. The staff are consistently friendly. It does get crowded, but moves quickly. A favourite.

Don’t get me wrong– I love Basilico’s, but it’s a bit overrated.
Some of their menu items are lacking flavor and are overpriced for what you get. Their pizzas are probably the best thing that I’ve tried on their menu.
Customer service is good here, the employees are all friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs.
Save room for dessert! Their gelato is pretty good, and it’s one of the only gelato type places we have in the area.

I truly hate to share my weakness but I feel compelled to because you might have the same problem. I have a sweet tooth and this place is my fix. I have eaten lunch and dinner which is okay, but I really come here for the delicious bakery items. Aka cake! I do like their tomato orzo soup. Pizzas are meh, nothing great for me. Salads are good but it’s a salad people. No my fix is their cake. I visit here to get a piece to go. I have a serious weakness for the lemon berry mascarpone cake. It’s incredible. They provide a large slice for 4.95 and it’s not heavy sickening sweet cake but fresh berries in a lemon cake. It’s a layer of cake, mascarpone, and then cake. Pure heaven! I have tried the hoho cake and it’s good if you like chocolate. Only down side, don’t go near closing because they lock their doors early– five to ten minutes before closing. I lucked out because I was ordering dessert and permitted entrance inside but another man was denied entrance and complained to the man standing guard at the door. eek. I don’t like to see that happening ever with my customer service based background. I have read reviews of others complaining about the service but I haven’t experienced that personally, just witnessed as noted. Whenever I am in the burg, I stop to get this cake and often pick up a piece for my parents as well.

AH. MAY. ZING.
I am second generation Sicilian, so I am VERY particular about Italian restaurants. My Dr is in the same plaza as Basilico and I have been meaning to get in there for quite a while now, but just made it in last week.
So far I have only had two sandwiches. One was the Italian hoagie — delicious! and the meats were PROPER Italian meats! No grocery store salami and bologna here! It was fantastic.
A few days later I had a «build your own» sandwich on ciabatta, with mozz, prosciutto, tomato and pesto mayo — and I am not ashamed to say I ate it like I was getting paid to!
The desserts and pizza and pastas looked phenomenal. I can’t wait to go back!

Love!!! Ah so much to say of this place. Was in the mood for Italian or Italian-​American food I should say but not a chain restaurant. I saw this on Unilocal and decided to try it. Located in a tiny business plaza but it’s clean and safe here.
When I stepped in I was amazed to what I saw, it had a deli/​café vibe. Walls are bright warm colors which was nice. Staff is really friendly. I wish they had a setup for a line to order though because I wasn’t sure if I cut people or they just formed another line so I had to wait a little. That part is unorganized but on to ordering.
You pay after you order, they had paninis, pastas & more. I ordered the chicken pesto panini & it was deeeelish. The bread was toasted perfectly and not hard to bite into. Chicken wasn’t dry and seasoned nicely. The pesto, tomato & arugula went wonderfully together. I got the side Mac and cheese thinking it’d be like any generic one but was I wrong. I have to say it was the best tasting Mac & cheese I’ve ever had. It was creamy I think they added olive oil but ah I never had anything like it.
I wanted to try dessert but I was so full and still decided to take a look at them to see what I’d try for next time. Food prices are moderate maybe $ 9-​$ 12 on entrees depending on what you pick. Desserts are huge portions and are about $ 5 each. Kids would love this too. Lots of people were here when I came in but it wasn’t overwhelmingly packed.

This place is awesome. I’m not an Italian food person, but this place is even great for me! It’s a true neighborhood gem. The price is excellent and the portion of food big for the price. I had their Philly cheeseteak stromboli and the wife had the newly added grilled chicken with gnocchi. They both tasted great. There’s no need to go to a chain Italian place when you have an amazing place like Basilico in your neighborhood.
Even if you’re not in the mood for a meal, you can stop at Basilico for an amazing dessert. I’m very impressed with your dessert/​ice cream selection. I had the Tiramisu ice cream and it definitely has some rum mixed into it.

What a great find! This simple deli has great food and service… A place that could quickly become a favorite! The pastrami was very good, accompanied with potato salad, it was quite filling. The desserts are amazing! Fresh cakes, pastries, truffles and gelato choices abound. The peanut butter truffle was nearly too good with a cakey center, it was not too heavy, but just right. A small cup of gelato was exactly what I was looking for. I paired strawberry and white chocolate… Wow!
I’m looking forward to eating here again.
