Jan 9, 2016 We were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast in Frederick that wasn’t a chain, and those we remembered from years past, in Thurmont, had poor reviews so we found this place. The waitress was friendly and very helpful. The menu is beyond extensive so if you don’t like places with 100 choices, STAY away from here, seriously!!! You can get a Mimosa with your breakfast though… The portions are ‘green-giant’ size. The French toast was larger than any loaf of bread I’ve ever seen and sliced 1−½in. thick. The fried potatoes are actual fried potatoes like at home. The bacon has an outstanding mesquite flavor. The food would be great, but it was cooked with NO salt or pepper. We salted the potatoes 10 – 20 times, but you can’t season food AFTER it is cooked. I’d still highly recommend it as my wrap was just as good warmed-up the next day.

I have been going to this diner or over 10 years and consider this establishment an excellent choice with a very good variety of diner food . The service is exceptional and the quality and quantity of the servings excellent. I would obviously recommend this establishment to anyone at any time

I am from Baltimore, so my go-to Double T is definitely the one on Rte. 40 E and Ebenezer Rd. However, our favorite is hands-down this location. My hiking partner loves the Chicken Ala Frederick. It was unfortunate, though, when we came back a second time after such a pleasant first, it was discovered that the dish had been pulled from the sauté menu. I asked if it could be made for her, so the kind waitress went to the kitchen to ask. She emerged from the kitchen with a smile on her face and told us that they’d be happy to do so, and they even entertained my partner’s special request to hold the little round, white onions(I forget what the hell they’re called). Also, my calamari over penne is always tops, as is the service. Upon leaving, we were greeted by the pleasant manager, who told us any time that she wants the Chicken Ala Frederick, they’d happily whip it up for her.

Pricey but good. I have never had a bad meal at the Double T diner throughout the years; in fact, they’ve been very good. This morning, I ordered corn beef hash with 3 eggs easy over plopped on top of the corn beef hash, home fries, wheat toast(trying to be healthy you see), and coffee. Everything came out perfect. The potatoes were hot and prepared with a crispy edge but could have had more seasoning added, the large portion of hash was flavorful, and eggs were served the way I like them. The coffee was very good as well. I can tell the quality of the ingredients at TT is top-notch! The only knock on this place is that they serve their coffee in 8oz(play doll size) cups. I needed to have Tina constantly refill me with coffee. Seriously, get some mugs so customers don’t have to constantly wait to be refilled. Coffee drinkers tend to want to get their fill of coffee quickly and early – not want to wait for refills. Tina was a sweetheart and took good care of me and tried her best to keep up. Overall though, at almost $ 14 bucks for breakfast(w/o tip), better breakfast value can be found elsewhere for essentially the same quality of food. Tip: When ordering coffee, ask for your coffee to be served in a «to go» cup, so you do not have to wait for refills as often.

I went there twice. First was benedict crab cake. Today was a corned beef omelette. These were below average. I had to ask for a Tabasco and a waitress provided Worcester. I only finished half of it. I tried a French toaster from my uncle and it was surprisingly good. I still would not trust the kitchen cooking the solid food.

We had a great dinner the best part was the cream of crab soup– one of the best soups I have ever eaten! I will call ahead to come back for more!

Love this place. Great food, great service, great place to grab a meal. Didn’t even need a menu as I found my meal scanning the specials board as I found the perfect choice, sauteed soft shell crabs with soup and mashed potatoes. Opted to face the gravy on the side and that was a solid choice as it was likely bearnaise sauce. As good as bearnaise tastes, is usually too rich of a cream sauce for my stomach to handle. The meal was tasty, came out hot and relatively quick. Waitress was attentive and helpful, constantly coming back to refill my unsweet ice tea. Ended up having rice pudding for dessert, which was good and flavorful. Wherever I’m in Frederick, I always try to make it a point to stop at Double T Diner! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Very disappointing. Went for breakfast and my daughter wanted something from the lunch or dinner menu like we have done at every other Double T and kind of what I have come to expect from any«diner». No soup available until 10. Burgers or chicken will take at least 20 min. Took forever for server to get back to our table. I could go to the Double T in Catonsville every day. But this was just an overall disappointing experience.

Big, colossal, huge ass menu. Anything and everything on this menu under the sun including a full bar. We settled for a pancake breakfast with sausage, eggs, hash browns, and SCRAPPLE. Scrapple a is staple for this area and I am still not sure of what this. It was ok not for me but ok. The pancakes was good and I would eat this again. This place is a diner with lots of seating and the service was good. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu.

Good food and friendly service. I love any place that’ll give me a big cup of tasty brown gravy for my fries! I’ll be back again soon.

If you are in search of the absolute worst server in Frederick or maybe the county or maybe even the time zone, please allow me to save you time, gas and service from any pretenders by introducing Crystal from the Diner. Rude, condescending(select your favorite term to describe an unhappy 20 something working in the wrong business) and generally miserable, this woman has single-handedly cost this place more repeat business than I can imagine. Oops, almost forgot… a business associate and I actually ate dinner there. The menu was incredibly large(almost silly in fact) so first –timers should plan on spending the first 10 minutes reading. Portions were above average and taste was only average as was the presentation. We considered ordering dessert but were afraid of being punched by Crystàl so we passed. On another night the Diner rates a low«3» but when you add the service, the overall experience adds up to a Crystal clear«1.»

The food was ok. Pancakes tasted oily, sausage was burnt, milk shake was very sweet. The service was very slow. Probably won’t go there again.

After visiting Double T several more times over the past few months(and checking out other diners in the area), Double T is definitely the best diner in Frederick! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The more you visit, the nicer they get! Food is yummy and it’s nice to go into a place where they remember you and treat you like a valued customer!

I was not too impressed at all. Customer service was disappointing. The waitress snapped at my brother when he politely asked her a question. We also received food at different times. Omelette came first, few minutes later sausage was dropped off, a couple minutes later the waitress brought my toast. Yet, rather than giving me my toast, she stops by our table and begins a personal conversation with another waitress, after that conversation was finished, I was permitted to have my toast. I was frustrated that she didn’t bring all the food ASAP. Food was good but nothing I would rave about. I would have preferred a Roy Rogers breakfast. However, as we were leaving, we finally interacted with a friendly employee. It was either the manager or the owner but he was quick to say goodbye with a smile. I was hoping for a «thank you for your business, «but that was expecting too much. The«goodbye» was all we were entitled to.

Oh God no. What the heck was that? The chicken soup had like six kinds of noodles hiding in it. They were soggy and it seemed like they were just adding different types of noodles and gradually thinning out the soup all day. My buffalo chicken had no buffalo. It was just plain chicken. The service was friendly but slow. Massive menu. Jack of all trades master of none. I can’t recommend them.

I am having a bad week with diners … I found this place massive, that’s usually a bad sign. Dirty floors. Sticky tables. Sticky MASSIVE menu. Extensive menu always means it’s all frozen. And it is. My meal was pretty godawful bad. Service was impossibly slow. No thanks. Why torture yourself?

This place left me the total opposite of impressed. More like 1.5 stars! We stopped here on the way out of town for breakfast. We allotted ourselves 90 minutes for breakfast and still make it to our destination in time for our planned festivities. Its eggs, how much time could it possible take, right? Ha. You’ve never been to Double T’s I was shocked at how large the interior of this place is. It has two bar areas, and area of tables, and an area with booth seating. We were seated at a booth near the entry door. The seats were terribly torn, the table was worn, but otherwise clean. The draft from the front door was quite chilly on the 20 degree morning. We ordered a combination of coffees, hot chocolates, OJ’s and Pineapple juices. The hot drinks(two of the three were delivered on the first request) were served luke warm and in tiny cups.(Alice in Wonderland sized.) They were very small, and sat empty most of the time. I was given two plastic creamer container, I never did receive more. The OJ was delivered, when I ordered Pineapple juice, the waitress said«apple?» I corrected her by asking again for Pineapple, she brought apple. We each ordered omelets, I specifically ordered a corn beef and Swiss omelet. It was very well done, which I don’t mind as I like my eggs cooked well… but they were basically brown. My dining partners were less than amused. The omelets were bland… bland… bland!!! Even after being doused with salt, pepper, and tabasco they were flavorless and just blah. I am somewhat confused how something could be so overcooked and delivered ice cold. We also received a large serving of home fries… all three of us left them basically untouched as they were also bland, cold and a sore disappointment on the plate. My toast was good… but not warm enough to melt the knob of butter I scooped out of the plastic box. One of us got a side of pancakes that were served… you guessed it… cold. They were a yellowish tent with zero grill marks or crispy bits, this is a 100% sign that they are frozen pancakes that were pulled right out of a box. The most offensive thing was the order of Challah Bread French Toast. Challah? No, it was frozen Texas French Toast that once again had no grill marks or crispy bits. It was taken from a box somewhere. When we cut into it, the neon yellow coating hadn’t even soaked into the middle of the bread and it was bright white. Seriously disappointing. The pancakes and French toast were also served with little plastic boxes of syrup… McDonalds style. Things were moving so slow that we asked for the check when our food was delivered. Asked for it a second time a little bit later… this dismal meal took every bit of the 90 minutes we had allotted and the majority of the food was left untouched on the table. Not impressed!

Made a pit stop here with two friends at the beginning of our road trip this morning. Figured you can’t go wrong with diner food and time at 8am on a Saturday. Right?! Wrong… Oh so very wrong. This place is huge and I’m sure at some point gets quite crowded. However, this morning it was not that crowded, but apparently was still way too much for the staff to handle because service was as slow as freaking molasses. Hot — more like luke warm — drinks came out — eventually — in mugs small enough to finish the liquid in three sips. The pancakes were clearly out of a box frozen. The French toast challah that we ordered to share as a group looked like huge Texas toast and then once you cut into it was completely raw bread in the middle and absolutely not anything like true challah bread. The omelets were huge but completely overdone and flavorless. The potatoes were also served in an enormous portion but were completely bland too. Syrup came out in individual packets and was not fresh, and butter in packets was rock solid. The menu is enormous and filled with a wealth of diner food options but this place just left a lot to be desired both for the food and service. From what I understand, it’s part of a small local chain. Seems like a great candidate for Robert Irvine’s Restaurant Impossible.

After being a regular customer for many years, I stopped going a few years ago. We tolerated the dirty floor and sticky tables because the food was decent and for the most part we liked the wait staff. What stopped me from going was one visit. The item I ordered was pretty bad and I let manager know(politely). All I got was a half assed apology. I also went so far as to email them on there website, thinking maybe someone at corporate might care and rectify to some extant. No dice. Too bad.

I’ve been here a few times and the food/atmosphere/service is just ok, but I’ve had enough. On my last visit, I arrived on a Sunday at 12:30 and grabbed a table while I waited for the last member of my party to arrive. I get that Sundays at noon are a high demand time and that waiters want to turn tables over quickly, but that’s not an excuse for being rude and ignoring us. Our waiter grabbed our drinks while we waited… and then we didn’t see him again until about 20 minutes after our whole party was at the table. Ordering was a bit of a mess because two people wanted to sub in the Maryland crab soup for the soups of the day and he refused even though it said on the menu that it was okay to do that. It wasn’t worth arguing about, but that’s a strike. I hate reviews that only talk about how lousy the service was, but the food was really lackluster. I had the matzah ball soup and the French dip sandwich. The broth for the soup was salty and tasted like instant and not homemade. It had one shred of chicken and a piece of carrot. The matzah ball was actually delicious, but not worth coming back here for. The French dip sandwich was bland. The fries were not my favorite. I ordered a scoop of chocolate ice cream, no whipped cream, and received chocolate peanut butter cup with whipped cream, which was fine, but you should probably warn someone in case they have a peanut allergy. The diner itself is dirty and in need of an update, the floors were covered in crumbs, and the silverware has seen better days. I enjoy an authentic diner that’s maybe a bit divey, but I’ll find a different one that is a bit more pleasant.
