Pluses: *Rooms are clean and very nicely decorated *Close to downtown Areas of opportunity: *Extremely small rooms; two doubles with a family of four makes for tight quarters. *Stayed for two nights; but housekeeping did not straighten room or refresh linens. Management explained that if personal effects are on the beds or in the general vicinity where the staff cleans then they are instructed not to clean the room at all. This is a reasonable policy as long as guests are told upon check-in, which we were not. *10a check out

My boyfriend and I got the idea to visit Frankfort in July 2013 earlier that year… much earlier… like January. So of course, I book the hotel IMMEDIATELY just to make sure that we don’t run into any problems since we had planned to travel during peak season. Sure enough… around a week later, we had to push back our vacation a couple of weeks thanks to work. I called Luann to explain what had happened and she was very understanding and gracious enough to change our reservation without charging us any fees. primarily because it was so far in advance, I imagine. Several months later, we arrive and Luann was very kind and welcoming. Scott’s family had been staying at Bay Port Lodging since he was a child(I believe it was under a different name/ownership back in the 1990s?). Our room was perfect in the sense that it provided just what we needed. It was spotless! We pretty much only used the room to sleep since we had a lot of things we wanted to do each day. The location is great — you can walk to the grocery should you need anything and you can walk to the beach… with many great stops along the way. Last summer, my boyfriends parents rented the guest house for a week and we joined them for the last few days(after camping in the UP). The house is very nice and more than met all of our needs. The washer/dryer were quite handy! The kitchen was stocked with cooking/eating supplies and there was plenty of space for the 4 of us. The beds were comfy and well… there just isn’t a reason to complain! I wish we could visit again this summer :(

Don’t expect to have your online reservation honored if someone walks into the door with a better offer. I had reserved a single night and received a phone call that someone walked in who wanted 2 weeks so my reservation was canceled. In fairness they did offer to help me find another room but their help was calling other establishments while I was on another line. I finally just did it on my own.
