I went to get my favorite sandwich and chips today and the restaurant is closed down and gutted! When did this happen and why??? I am devastated!

Ordered the pastrami sandwich and a huge order of fries. Both tasted amazing. Fries were very close to in n out fries but crisper and a little better flavor. Owner was very helpful and nice. I will definitely go back when ever I’m around. My only complaint is the lighting. Sign was hard to see at night and my girlfriend told me the bathroom was a little scary. So please add a few more lights outside

I ate here several years ago and on a whim, just went in and about an hour ago. I had the Beast Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. A beast for sure; could only finished half of it but now I know what dinner will be. The bread was excellent, fresh, just a bit crispy. The beef was tender and well-flavored; the bell peppers crisp. All in all an excellent Cheesesteak. Also 95.9KFSH Christian radio was playing which was unexpected but very welcomed in a restaurant. Excellent witness and influence East Coast! As Arnold said: «I’ll be back».

I have driven by this place for ten years and I wish I knew what I was missing. I finally went in and was greeted as if myself and my husband were family. We ordered two sandwiches and the homemade chips to go. While we were waiting we were served homemade minestrone and chicken and rice soup in china dishes, yes like at your moms. Both these soups were delicious!!! When we got home with the sandwiches we were just as happy! Delicious! From the fresh bread, quality meats(boars head) fresh vegis and homemade dressing! The homemade chips were plentiful, and great! All this and the price was right. We will be back here for sure.

Another trip to this deli resulted in enjoyment of a very good cup of Italian Soup with spicy meatballs, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, and pieces of tomato in a rather thick and hearty broth. Homemade Potato Chips were tasty, but I would have preferred that they had been thinner and crisper. On the other hand, Skin-on Shoestring French Fries were excellent. And a panini with an interior two inches thick with cold meat was both filling and satisfying.

I had a pastrami sandwich and the garlic parmesan fries. The bread was excellent; it had a soft, airy inside with a great crunchy crust that held up well to the juicy pastrami. The pastrami was outstanding: savory, tender, and packed with flavor. It’s a simple sandwich, just pastrami, mustard, and cheese, but that lets each ingredient shine. The fries are crispy and well-seasoned, with great garlic and Parmesan flavor. They also give you a ton of fries; it’s enough for two people to share. This is a great spot for lunch.

I always like to find a good hole in the wall eatery. Too bad this place was just a hole! Ordered the cheese steak with no peppers and fries. I think I got an onion sandwich instead. See photo. Disgusting. Worst cheese steak sandwich ever! The people that give this place any more then 2 stars must be use to eating terrible food. I barely saw any meat in my sandwich. Its pretty bad when I have to put ketchup on a cheese steak just to eat something. Fries were stale and not good at all. I would not recommend this place.

This place was okay. A friend and I came here for lunch. The place was pretty empty but the owner was super nice. If you’re looking for a place to fill up on, this place is it. We had the: –Turkey avocado bacon sandwich: Loads of turkey meat in the sandwich which was great but the sandwich itself wasn’t anything but your average turkey sandwich. –Pastrami sandwich: Again the sandwich was packed with pastrami but again there wasn’t anything that made this the best pastrami sandwich in town. The pastrami was on the salty side. –Homemade chips: The chips were good when paired to the homemade dipping sauce that the owner brought out. Wished the chips were made to order so that it could be warmer. That would’ve brought it home.

I rode my bike here with my boyfriend earlier today, I didn’t know what to expect considering it was my first time but my boyfriend told me he has heard good things and has been there only once before and remember it being tasty. I love to try new things so we went for it. We got the east coast Italian cold sub and a the hot pastrami and a large homemade potato chip to share. Everything turned out great! Alex, the owner made sure we left happy. He was a very nice guy! We will definitely be making another stop at the east coast deli! Thanks Alex! Xoxo

Definitely less than impressed with this place. Ordered a philly cheesesteak sandwich and an Italian beef sandwich, and after the 20m+ wait, received two sandwiches that were basically indistinguishable from each other. One should be able to identify the Italian beef sandwich because the inside of the bread should be dipped in the broth and the filling shouldn’t have peppers and cheese in it. To me it looked like they accidentally switched the fillings, and both sandwiches basically came out as a weird cheesesteak/italian beef mashup. They tasted alright, but neither sandwich satisfied my craving for Italian beef OR cheesesteak. Also saw how the taco menu was tacked-on to the regular menu. I took that as a bad sign when I walked in, it basically looks like they don’t have confidence that their«East Coast» menu was any good, so they decided to offer tacos as well since I’m guessing that the owner-operators are Mexican. Just sell tacos then! I got the vibe that they were half-assing their«East Coast» sandwiches anyway. Would not go back to this place. I felt duped because they even had the«People love us on Unilocal!» sticker on the door. I guess they must have paid their Unilocal extortion fee to have the poor reviews« Unilocal-sorted» to the bottom. Update: also received a derogatory note-compliment on this review from a Unilocal account«Nene», that originates in fountain valley, and has no pictures, reviews, or friends. Extremely shady.

Before I start with my review, a bit of full disclosure. My daughter goes to school with the owners daughter. I told my daughter that I would not give a bad review, I just would not review. We started out with a cup of the Italian soup and a cup of the clam chowder. The chowder was good, the Italian soup was amazing. It was more vegetable based, and absolutely delicious. We then had an order of the homemade potato chips, with a dipping sauce. Very good. I ordered the Ruben sandwich. It is a hot sandwich served on a delicious marbled rye bread. The corned beef was delicious. And, the sandwich was huge. We will definitely return. I want to try the Italian fries, and the Italian beef dip. It didn’t get 5 stars because I do not really give anyone 5 stars. Delicious food.

I came here to pick up a quick lunch to go because of other great Unilocal reviews. It was all downhill as soon as I ordered at the counter. The woman taking the orders was so rude; I asked for the«Egg Salad Combo» to which she responded, «you mean the Egg Salad Plate». I said no, that I wanted the combo with chips and a drink. She gave out a big sigh, rolled her eyes and came around the counter to read the menu sign. She took my husband’s order for a Pesto Chicken Panini with NO onions and a bag of chips. Over 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for our meal, meanwhile watching people who ordered after us get their food and leave. We finally got our bag of food and jetted out the door because I was on my lunch break and late. I checked the bag in the car and saw that I received no drink or chips with my «meal» and there were onions on my husband’s sandwich. The sandwiches were good and the chips were fresh and amazing, but I am so disappointed in the experience. We were charged for more than we received and got an attitude for ordering off the menu verbatim. No thank you, I can get a better sandwich in the area.

Not sure what’s worse, the guy making my sandwich using no gloves or the owner holding my order hostage because of a price discrepancy between her in-store price vs online price. The latter of which is not my fault and is obviously an issue she(the owner I presume) needs to work out with eat24. I came in and was immediately faced with a problem with my order. Some of the food items on the online menu is cheaper than the in-store menu. For my particular order we’re talking about a $ 1.10 difference. She refuses to make my order unless I pay for the difference. OK, fair enough except that I don’t carry cash on me so I told her to just take an item off my order. Then the phone rings and it’s eat24 to the rescue. After a few minutes on the phone with them she puts my order through because eat24 paid for the difference. Kudos eat24, but the whole experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth(pun intended) due to the owner’s way of handling the situation for such a trivial price difference. The turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich I had was quite good, but the unsanitary way it was made keeps me from coming back. Eat here if you want to risk getting sick. You’ve been warned

Wow, just a taste of wonderful, from the staff to the food. This place is truly worthy of me taking the time to write thus review. Had the spiniach chicken salad with walnuts and feta cheese, and mixed in, to my delight was the ever welcomed Bacon, real bacon not those imitation lil bits, but the real thing! I had them add some red onions(personal preference) they top it with a homemade vinigerrett. Delicious. Found out that every day they make a batch of homemade kettle style chips and they serve these huge elongated Idaho spuds with a tasty red in color sweet and slighty spicy dipping sauce, this alone would bring me back to this quaint little spot, just miles from Huntington State Beach. Im already planing my next beach trip, of course stopping by here to get my to go meal for enjoying by the sea shore! This place is worth making a trip to fountain Valley. Stop by and say«Hi» to Alex and Monica the owners, the are really hospitable and attentive!

Wow! My first time here, and boy have I been missing out. I have driven by this place hundreds of times, but I never noticed it before. It showed up on my Unilocal list a few days ago, and then I saw it today. I read all the reviews, then decided on the hot Beef, Onion, and Pepper sandwich. I added cheese to it as well. I followed everyone else’s advice and ordered their«chips & sauce». 8 minutes later, I got one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The chips were homemade potato chips and homemade sauce. DELICIOUS! I will definitely be back!

This is our new favorite deli! I had a ham sandwich and split pea soup and my fiancé had an Italian sub and Italian soup and both were delicious and hearty. Great Italian style home cooking at very reasonable prices and most excellent customer service. If you’re in the area and are craving yummy comfort food, we recommend it.

I really like this place. EXCELLENT quality of meats. They use Boars Head and other premium quality meats. I have yet to find a deli with such good meat as East Coast Deli. They make homemade thick-cut tomato chips with their own ketchup. Both are awesome. I drink the ketchup when through! Wish they would start selling it. The owner is a very cool guy too, he’s in there a lot, shorter hispanic guy. Wide variety of sandwiches(hot and cold) paninis are great too. Cool little deli! I recommend it.

W Side of Magnolia just N of Garfield So I’m almost a fan of this place… almost The service and their Pastrami Sandwich are easily worthy of higher ratings… everything else however varies in lower ratings if you ask me. There is plenty of parking in their dedicated lot. The interior although on the slightly older side is simple yet to some degree classy. I love that they use a quality meat here(Boar’s Head,) but not all of their recipes and other ingredients prove to be a winner: For example one time I had their Italian Hoagie: which certainly looks beautiful, but what it makes up for in presentation lacks in taste. The bread was a little dry and a little hard to chew and although this sandwich did have many ingredients I could really only taste one of the meats. This one is basically like their East Coast Hoagie minus Prosicutto… I’m not convinced that the edition of this extra meat would have elevated the flavor of this particular sandwich. For those still curious about the details the ingredients were Genoa Salami, Capicola, Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Pepperoncinis, and a little bit of Italian Dressing to which I ended up requesting a little bit of Mayo and Mustard to add a little bit more moisture(and flavor) to the sandwich Not to sound completely negative so speak… as I mentioned, their Pastrami Sandwich: which had that same roll that I’m not a huge fan of, but is made up of a large amount of Delicious Boar’s Head Pastrami. I believe this sammie normally comes with Lettuce and Provolone, but I kept it simple and just kept the Mustard and bits of chopped Pickles which is a bit more traditional to me in terms of previous experiences. The meat has nice seasoning, is sliced a nice width(for deli meat,) and is slightly grilled to help bring out the weight) which helps bring all the flavors together nicely. Their French Fries: although quite large in terms of portion size are just pretty good. They’re not greasy, but do have a more natural flavor about them. They are slightly salted to the point where there is just enough without being too much. I still feel like they need something because although the combo meal makes for a pretty good deal at only like a $ 1 more per item these just seemed more like an afterthought. After having one of their Hot Dogs(The Pigskin Dog): which was made up of a quality Boar’s Head made Hot Dog, Red Onions, and BBQ Sauce whose flavors were muted significantly by the size and dryness of the Hoagie Roll(based on other reviews this unfortunately seems to be consistent). I’m convinced their Hot Dogs would prove significantly better with a much smaller(and more flavorful) Steamed Hot Dog Bun. The dog wasn’t bad at all… it was just a bit too much(in terms of that roll.) I don’t believe that size always necessarily proves to be a better option. Their menu consists of hot and cold sandwiches, Hot Dogs, and Pastas. Choose carefully and I’m sure you’ll be quite happy. Service here is always top notch. The owner is so incredibly nice, helpful, and proud of his business and does a great job of employing a staff with similar ideals. The place is kept super clean. They offer regular tables both inside and out front.

I have driven by here so many times w/o stopping in. However, I was in the area around lunch time one day and I said, «WTH?» I ordered one of the many daily specials: Chicken salad sandwich on a hoagie w/potato salad($ 6.99). They also have all the regular sandwiches, home made chips and fries(regular and Italian w/parmesan). Their meats are from Boar’s Head. The sandwich was OK. You could taste the fresh chicken in the salad and there wasn’t too much mayo. However, the bread was dry. On the other hand, the potato salad was very good. It had the right amount of mustard, potatoes and egg, and it wasn’t too sour: 3 Stars combined. The place is small w/only 6 or 7 tables. As a result, there is a lot of take-out. It looks like an old Wienerschnitzel on the outside with a pointed roof, et al. Service was OK. The sandwich comes on a real plate and the main guy was nice: 3 Stars. I’ll come back if I am in the area and I am hungry, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. This place is better than Deli-licious, but not as good as Mr. Pickle in HB.

I really like this place. I’ve been here a few times for subs and have never been dissappointed. I called on the way home from work yesterday after the wife told me to grab some dinner. The manager was very helpful with his recommendations. He hooked me up with an East Coast Hogie… lots of boar’s head meat, tasty dressing and veggies Chicken Parm Sandwich… not on the menu but he said he’d do it for me… mmmm…meaty… Hot Pastrami… so salty… so freakin’ good… not too much mustard Chicken, Avacado Bacon sub… not sure, the four of us were full and could not get to this one… we’ll see how it looks in my lunch bag today. Hot fries… nothing amazing, but good. Fresh hot potato chips… a huge hit!!! They were devoured. Tangy side sauce, too. A great hole in the wall family biz. Huge fans…
