I actually enjoyed this place. For an asian place it was what I was expecting service and ambiance wise, but the food was actually quite tasty. The discounted rate was perfect for me, and sure they had their past drama but whatevs Vietnamese people are Vietnamese people what can I say. I feel like people are forgetting the reason they are here, the food and the food was very fair for the price, even better with the discount. Shame its closed now :(

How’s the taste? it’s alright. How’s the ambiance? It’s better. How’s the price? Not really worth it. How’s my stomach after eating here? In pain. x_x

We dropped by because there was a 50% off sign for lunch when we were on our way to Sam’s Club, which is the next building over. And boy was it a bad mistake, we walked into a HUGE, empty restaurant where the food was below average and the service sucked. Reading the review below written by Christina L., it looks like they won’t stay open for long. Good thing lunch for my sister and I came out to only $ 7.32! I have to admit it’s better than fast food though; so maybe I should stop complaining.

Wow. I guess when your food quality sucks and your prices costs two or three times more than typical Vietnamese fare, you gotta stoop to «shady» deals to stay afloat…

I ate here years ago when Aysya first replaced whatever used to be here– back in the pre-Yelp days! On a whim, we decided to come here for dinner… my mind was blown at how so much had changed! The interior of the restaurant was redesigned to look like a steakhouse or supper club, with mahogany wood and shiny glass surfaces. On top of that, the staff at Aysya is surprisingly«busty-er»… Suffice to say, it felt like a bonafide Vietnamese bar and lounge. Actually, I take that back– while it LOOKS like a Viet bar/lounge, it was EMPTY, with the only other customer being an older man using his laptop at a solitary table in the dining room. On the bright side, because there was no one else, we were served fairly quickly. Looking at the menu made me realize that one of the reasons why Aysya was so empty was because of the PRICES! There are so many expensive entrees, with most seafood and meat dishes ranging between $ 20 and $ 30! I mean, sure, they have tilapia, red snapper, sea bass, salmon, and even«exotic» items like welks, boar, and deer, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Vietnamese restaurant with so many high priced entrees! Not wanting to spend a lot of money for food that might not be that good, we decided to order some safe entrees– Spicy Thai Panang Chicken Curry, Pad Thai, and Rock and Roll Beef Filet Mignon Cubes. As a whole, all of the dishes were pretty good, especially the Rock and Roll Beef… On top of that, all of the dishes cost $ 12 or less! Makes me wonder if the pricey dishes are worth trying after all… I’ll go back some time and see if the rest of the food matches the ambiance, but from this experience, I’d say it’s slightly better than bad. Unfortunately, I can’t rate Aysya 2 and a half stars, so I’ll just rate it a 2 star restaurant… for now. Prove me wrong Aysya!

This must’ve been one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. I couldn’t tell you how their food is, because we never got to eat anything there. Why? So we’ve made reservation, we came in on time, went inside, NOONE was at the front desk to greet or tend to me. All these waitresses in skimpy clothes pranced around and completely IGNORED the fact that there is someone standing waiting to talk to someone about table reservation and getting a table. We stood there for 10 minutes, no one came out. I signaled one of the skimpy waitresses to at least get someone to come help us if that wasn’t her job. She looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. She had this dumb look on her face and muffled words like«huh…» and«whaa?» and«huhhh… ohh. kayyy» and then walked off. That was the most BIZARRE thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve had it at this point. I finally had to signal a waiter dude(hoping he’s better than the skimpy girl) and he came and showed us to a private room. He was nice, so we were like, «OK fine.» Then we sat there and waited like another 15 – 20 minutes, NOONE came to our table to service us. We were like«WTF?» I don’t think anyone even knew we were sitting in this so-called private room. I dialed the restaurant # on my phone(figured that’s probably faster than trying to walk out and yank someone in); someone answered, I said«Um hello? We’ve been sitting here for a while…» The girl on the phone said she’ll come in, but then went to look for us in a wrong room. What is wrong with all these waitresses?! But at this point, my parents and I just looked at each other(we were starving at this point, may I add) and unanimously decided to go some place else to enjoy our Christmas family dinner together. Bottom line: service(what service?) is sh*tty! Dumb skanky waitresses. They don’t care about customers. DONOTCOMEHERE.

I give this place two stars because my pad thai was not that bad. But other than that, this restaurant is sure overpriced. I used to like the place, then all of a sudden so many things started changing. Skimpy asian girls are hired to promote their business, water was $ 1.00 each… I haven’t been there for a long time, and all of a sudden tonight, I get charged $ 2.99 per water! Are you kidding me? They were also playing live, obnoxious, terrible-singing music in which I couldn’t even hear myself speak to the person sitting next to me. My friend’s plate came out before mine and he finished half of his before mine came out. I never want to eat here again.

First of all, their dinners are 50% Sunday — Thursday. Our group of 4 was able to try the filet mignon, the fish, the frog legs, the ahi tuna steak, and something else for all under $ 17 a person. That’s not bad at all. Also, they have a happy hour from 3pm to 6pm where are their appetizers are half off and their beers are only $ 1.50/bottle. Great place to lounge around on a free day. But most importantly, their live Maine lobsters are $ 8/lb. Extremely flavorful and CHEAP! I would go back to there once a week just to eat their lobster!!!

I’m a fan of this place’s lunch menus. I work across the street from here, so me and a group of coworkers usually come here once a week for the lunch combinations. It definitely offers a change of scenery and forces me to step away from my desk. Heck, walking in during lunch time, you’ll come across their shrine that they set up in front of the store complete with burning incense! That’s pretty darn authentic, even though they advertise as Euro-Asian fusion. The combinations are usually an egg roll, soup du jour(usually hot and sour soup) or soda, and a one-item combo for 6 to 8 dollars, depending on the item. I recommend getting the spicy items and asking for«extra spicy.» These are denoted by a spicy pepper next to the name. The only catch to the lunch specials is that you have to dine in to be eligible for the free egg roll and soup. Thankfully, it’s usually pretty quiet even during the lunch hour, so my coworkers and I are able to walk across, get seated, eat and walk back to work in a little over a half hour. My only wish is that the meat and seafood items have a little more«meat» to them, that is to say, I wish there was more. Though it’s probably enough to subside hunger, I’d rather be stuffed before having to go back to the office so I enjoy a nicer, fuller food coma.

Food is just okay. price is decent, depends on what you’re getting. it’s a fusion. Euro-Asian theme. traditional Vietnamese Phở, Noodles, rice dishes. and curry are very cheap. the appetizer can be on the more expensive side(For Vietnamese) $ 12 – 15. but it’s actually kinda gross. i don’t recommend the appetizer here… Taste of Viet Nam and Taste of Asia. both of them were just overwhelming. the dishes just didn’t come together to me. Too sweet. too rich. too savory(in a bad way.) not like maple bacon(rich and sweet in a good way)… too overwhelming. the best thing here is the calamari. and happy hour daily from4−6.(even on weekend) 1.99 wine and 1.50 beer. and appetizer 2.99. . it’s a good place to get drunk for cheap. but it’s not worth it for me…

This place is okay, but if you are in the neighborhood and want Euro-asian food, you should just go to Le V, which is about one block south. I can only give this place three stars because Le V is so close… As for this place, the french onion soup was great. The fillet mignon vermecelli was only okay. They didn’t have satay so we ordered chicken wings for an appetizer. As far as the live music, I wanted to jam the chicken wings in my ears…

So… I’ve been here a few times. and its pretty decent. Until today… when I found a FLY!!! in my thai tea… yes. a FLY in my thai tea!!! The waiter quickly grabbed my drink and tried to replace it… they didn’t offer to replace anything and didn’t comp my meal. they acted like nothing happened… like it was normal to find a fly in my drink.

Ate here after going to Sam’s club up the street. Not a great choice. Hence the discounted lunch deals advertised outside. The server recommender the beef au lac. I got that and the fried egg rolls. Barely ate the beef, and drowned the rolls with chili paste. That made it edible. Sriracha and chili sauce make everything good. The Tsing Taos were cold!!! Funny thing: As I was leaving, the Chef yelled out my name. He used to be a lead cook at Roy’s. I guess now he’s the Executive Chef here. I will say the place is really clean inside.

Boyfriend gives it a 3.65, I’ll give it a 3.95! HAHA. I would have never thought about Euro, Thai and Vietnamese being MIXED together. I like how they put things together b/c it’s a good mix! There was only ONE waitress. she was being a HOST and a waitress. I felt so bad for the girl but she was good to me, she was honest. I was gonna order something and she said it wasn’t so great, so she pointed out something similiar. The thing that threw me off was the French cook was sick. So we couldn’t order certain things. But overall, good restaurant, very nice place, very unique. I would come here again. Fried banana dessert!!! YUM!!! =)

There’s something a little off about Aysya – kinda like a little girl dressing up in Mommy’s clothing. It’s trying to be something it just ain’t, which is an upscale, chi-chi dining establishment to rival the ones you might see in Hollywood or West Hollywood. Aysya boasts«Euro-Asian Cuisine,» but I’ve generally fared better when I’ve gone straight for the Vietnamese selections. Try, for example, the Red Snapper Hot Pot(Lau Ca Hong) or the Rock & Roll Filet Mignon(Bo Luc Lac). Now that’s some good stuff! The problem is that even when the food is good, the lighting casts this shadow on the table that makes it look less than appetizing. And as far as the wait staff is concerned, let’s not even go there. Can we say S-L-O-W? I am especially peeved by the fact that it takes them ages to get back to your table in between dishes, but the moment you look like you’re ready for the check, then BAM… there it is on your table… I have gone back just for the Red Snapper Hot Pot alone. There’s easy parking in the lot, and plenty of tables inside(although it can get pretty crowded in the evenings). The private room also looks like a good call. You won’t necessarily impress a hot date by bringing them to this restaurant, but if you’re looking for a decent place with decent food – particularly for big gatherings with family – then this is as good a place as any. But if you want to bring those standards up just a notch, I’d actually drive about 10 – 15 minutes north to Brodard Château, right by the 22.

Wow, I went here for a family dinner, which expirience tells me can be hit or miss. My dad had reserved the private room which was surprisingly comfortable. The menu is really adventurous and unless they were really good cooks, it was going to be a disaster. We started with a scallop appetizer. It was a seared scallop on a little«mashed potato pancake» crab, and a miso sauce. Very good. The stuffed escargot was disappointing, but the lobster bisque was a hit. From the rack of lamb, to the sublime steaks(and they were very good), to the salmon everyone was pleased. The only misfire in my opinion was the crab and shrimp over glass noodles. To top it off, this place is cheap. Like off the back of the truck cheap. The bill for 10 people was under 300 which as a boy from San Francisco seems really good. Try it. These people deserve your business.

Aysya is actually a pretty cool way to spell Asia. Hooray for palindromes! I was excited to check out this new Asian fusion restaurant with the cool name, and went a few months ago within the first couple of weeks it opened. The interior is modern and warm/inviting, but not particularly unique. No matter, I was there to be blown away by the food. We were led to a booth at the side of the restaurant. To my dismay, our seats were covered with sticky paint splatters, and I notified the hostess. She told us the seats were«supposed» to be that way, the paint wouldn’t come off on our clothes, and we should just sit down. Thanks for forcing us onto sticky, stained benches at your brand-new restaurant! A server approached us and took our drink orders. During the 15 minutes between ordering our drinks and receiving them, 2 other servers mistakenly stopped by to take our drink order. This recurred throughout the evening, as we were approached several different times by several different servers about drinks, bread and dessert — ironically enough, though, they weren’t there to ensure our food was correct and on time, or to get the check when we needed it. We decided to start the meal with some calamari. My boyfriend was in the mood for some Caf-Hiro-style seafood pasta, and ordered the seafood spaghetti. I was looking forward to some fusion cuisine, and ordered the poulet Marengo, which the menu stated would come with a side of garlic noodles. After a long wait, the calamari arrived. We were disappointed with the stingy portion size, but the rings were so oily, bland and unpleasantly rubbery that were ultimately relieved that there wasn’t much of it. After another long pause, our entrees arrived. The pasta had a cafeteria-esque smell, and the sauce was far too creamy. The flavor of the seafood was muddled in dissonant spices and too much pepper. My dish was great — chicken and vegetables in a thick, fragrant tomato-y broth. After a few spoonfuls, I realized my noodles hadn’t come yet, and flagged our server down. She offered more bread. When I refused it, she consulted with another server, and they escalated it to the big boss. He came over only to tell me the dish does not come with garlic noodles. Then DON’T PUTITONYOURMENU, GENIUS! Annoyed, we decided to just finish our meal and get out of there. As we finished up our meal, the big boss returned to ask how it was. We expressed our disappointment with the calamari, and rather than comp the dish or offer us dessert, he insisted on replacing the calamari with coconut shrimp. Neither of us likes coconut shrimp to begin with, but it also took forever to make and we were done with our meal by the time it came out. However, the long wait gave us the opportunity to chat with the guy, who turned out to be Aysya’s owner. Although friendly and hospitable, he was also an egomaniac. He went on and on about his restaurant’s popularity with the non-Asians, and launched into a scathing missive about a somewhat negative review that Gustavo Arellano of OC Weekly had written. Along with some bitingly racist remarks, he told us he and his«Jewish» lawyers were getting ready to sue Gustavo and OC Weekly. I haven’t been able to find the original review online — it’s since been replaced with a scrubbed-up version. A shame, because the first one was the more accurate of the two. If Aysya continues to quash constructive feedback about their spotty service and food, they aren’t going to have many repeat visitors — at least, not me. …Hope I don’t get sued for saying that!

I have been putting off trying Aysya ever since I read the OC Weekly review. The name alone is a total turn off, but there really were no other appetizing prospects this Friday afternoon in Fountain Valley(too hot for ramen at Shin Sen Gumi) so we settled on Aysya. This location must be jinxed. Before it was Aysya, it was a hot pot place for all of a minute before that was apparently scrapped and I wonder if they ever got to even serve up a bowl of soup there before the banner went up for Aysya. Oh well. The interior was pleasant indeed, but as others have said, too uppity for the area. We started with the house salad($ 2) and eggrolls for a buck each. Also ordered the soda chanh, or lemonade soda, which tasted overly sweet and you can tell they used Sprite instead of the proper club soda. Gross. The house salad looked nice, but that’s about it. The mixed baby greens were tossed in an anemic dressing that did nothing for the salad, along with some really limp julienned mangoes, almond slivers and oddly enough, croutons. The eggroll was outright insulting. Just a chubby thing that was loosely rolled with an overly thick eggroll skin and maybe a teaspoon of mostly cabbage and pork filling. I tasted no crab or much else, really. My friend’s roasted half cornish hen with rice also looked appetizing but the chicken had a very strange seasoning to it with an even weirder after taste, as if they used the wrong herbs to flavor it. The waitress forgot my Thai beef salad until we both shot the staff a look and I heard her mutter, «Oh shoot, the beef salad.» Again, weirdest beef salad I’ve ever had. The chunks of beef were tender and juicy, actually quite edible, but curiously, the greens of the salad comprised of whole spearmint leaves(there must have been 20 or 30) tossed with the beef, along with minimal presence of red onions and red bell pepper! Who does that??? If you’re going to put mint in a dish, it has to be done sparingly, with the mint finely chopped. It was way too overpowering and worse, the mint leaves were not fresh but had brown spots all over. I was really shocked by how bad our entire meal was. I expected mediocre at worst, but this was just, wow. This was so bad. My friend and I left completely baffled and we both agreed that the flavors were just off, as if the chef had no idea what he or she was doing and just went willy nilly with the seasonings. Weird, just weird.

We were gonna go to Tsuruhashi for dinner but at 5:30pm on Saturday, it was 45 min wait. One of my friends who lives around the area suggested AySya. He said he had been here the night before and didn’t mind going back again so we went. From outside, it looks like a Denny’s but inside was a total different feel. It’s an upscale Vietnamese French restaurant. Dishes that I tried: Aysya Sampler Plater Lover #2 — Stuffed Escargots, coconut shrimp, shrimp with carrot, taro balls. Stuffed Escargot was minced with lemongrass. Doesn’t look anything like escargot except there’s its shell for decoration. Dipping sauce was some sort of fish sauce. Interesting but I taste mostly lemongrass. coconut shrimp was nothing special. Shrimp with carrot was nothing special. The taro balls were interesting. They used dried shrimp which I thought was tasty! Seared Ahi Tuna Sashimi Peppercorn — it was ok. They put Oro Blanco in the middle for decoration. Quite interesting. First time seeing it on a dish! Kreole Shrimp Étouffée — this was interesting. The spicy kicks in a little later. Very tasty! It does look a shrimp curry dish! Rock & Roll Beef with Krispy Rice — I didn’t enjoy the beef as much. There wasn’t enough sauce to coat it well. I like the Mon-Toi veggie and the onion with the krispy rice. That was tasty because all the juice goes into the vegetable and onions. Shrimp and Scallop with Butter Noodles — You can actually taste the butter on the noodles. Most of my friends like this but I thought was ok. Probably just unconsciously didn’t like it because it was made with butter. The service was excellent. We felt like a King because at least 3 to 4 people are constantly attending us and getting stuff for us. My friend probably had like 4 glasses of coke refilled. Didn’t need to ask they just do it! Very impressive service! However, One of my friends from work said he came during Mother’s Day and got really bad service. Another friend came on a regular day and got the same excellent service as I did. So conclusion is I would avoid here when it’s holiday! Food was decent for 3 stars but service and environment was another star!

This is that one new euro-asian restaurant that took the one spot of that Chinese buffett some time ago. Its next to the Del Taco on Brookhurst and Slater. I actually give this place 2.5 stars, but i rounded it up. This place serves asian food + kinda fancy high end french foods n stuff. The cost of the dishes is kinda pricey for me. They’re menu has a buncha different eats ranging from steaks, escargot, shrimp, noodles, spring rolls etc. Just read the menu on the site. Those of you who know the viet-french cuisine stuff know what I’m talkin about. I got the Ribeye Steak with the Bourbon sauce. It was ok, i was feeling for steak so i enjoyed it. My mom wanted to spend alot of money on food today so i we ordered escargot and the chicken wings too for appetizer. The escargot was alrite, but it was 10 bucks for only 4 little pieces. Chicken wings were good, fried and came with that salt/pepper thing. I guess this is one of those viet places thats trying to move up the ladder and being all fancy n stuff and charging more. Viet dishes are usually 6 – 10 around there. French dishes like Chateaubriand and seafood can go up to 26 dollars a plate. The serving was ok. I ate alot but i could have eaten more. The service was ok. The one guy was nice but the girl helped us later and she was laggy on stuff. When i wanted to order the steak on the lunch menu, she said«no, that not that good… get another steaK» … and so i went from a 10 dollar entrée to a 16 dollar entrée. She was nice, even though it took a while for the check. I think this place is owned by chinese, not sure. Anyways, bottom line, If you fancy french, viet or both kinds of food, this place might suit you. Pricey for the food, but nothin past 30. Place looks nice. If you got the paper, feel free to go here. I personally don’t think its that great.
