The food is great and the people who work there are the most helpful, generous and kind folks in the industry. Breakfast is great, but the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich with curly seasoned fries at lunch is my favorite!

«Waiter Service» starts After you order at the counter. Which is No problem, unless you’re like me and peruse the menu at length, change your mind 5 or 3 times, and worry for the starving people behind you in line. Today, my First time in, worked out Fine. I guess I got here during a lull. Breakfast was Really good at a Great price. Nice, thick hunk of ham. Great biscuits. And I sure appreciated the fact that neither my grits nor my gravy turned to water during the meal.(Some of you know what I mean)! I will Definitely return again for breakfast… and probably Lunch… and even, more than likely, Dinner! 12/10/2015 Well I made it back today for lunch. Chicken Fried Steak was good. Fried Green Beans a nice change from the standard fried vegetables. At some point… Dinner!!!

I come here from time to time on my lunch break at work — it’s just around the corner. There’s an older gentleman that works here, just as hard as the others from what I can tell, but he seems to be the owner. He is so kind! He goes out of his way to tell me how much he appreciates me coming to Old Neighborhood Grill. If you’re into that kind of thing, check this place out just for their kind greetings alone(rare in my opinion). The food is always great, my favorite and meal I get a majority of the time, is their chicken fried steak(CFS if you’re searching). It’s amazing! I always get it just because I like to feel like I’m taking a nap while working. You know that feeling you get after a huge meal that fills you up so much you just want to take a nap? Don’t be dismayed, you will not be down after this meal — you’ll be glad you ate it! The sides are homemade and I usually get okra and fries. Their fries are the shoestring variety with a twist — literally. They also season them just right but if you’d like more seasoning or none at all, they’ll xtra/86 to your preference. I’ve not tried the cupcakes or deserts they have. It seems a bit overpriced for a tiny cupcake but they’re actually par with other places. I prefer paying for overpriced cupcakes at another venue however. They offer sodas and great tea if you prefer. Pay at the counter with your food then help yourself to the drink station. They don’t have«wait staff» like most places but they will certainly come by and ask if they can get you anything or offer a free refill. Please tip these people, they deserve it for the unique way they treat their guests!

Came here because of the chicken fried steak reviews and recommendations. I was very excited to try it. So I ordered the CFS with mashed potatoes and green beans. I my CFS was a disappointment;(1) the breading was tasty but the meat was not that tender and cold; 2) the mashed potatoes were cold and did not taste freshly made and had the texture of day old mashed potatoes;(3) the green beans were tasty but cold. I felt as though all the food was pre-made and waiting to be plated. The CFS came out quickly, and due to it being tough and not hot, they used the gravy to heat it up, or used a microwave. Ordering was odd also. You have to order from a blackboard that hangs above the counter, and it is difficult to read. We also opted to sit outside, for it was rather cold inside. Unfortunately the tables are in front of the parking lot, and with all the cars pulling up and leaving it did not make for an enjoyable seating arrangement. It was like eating in the middle of the parking lot, next to a running car! We were treated to some apple pie, that was outstanding! Don’t think that I would rate their CFS as a «must have» and found the food to be very average — and a let down.

One of my favorite places to eat. My family has known the owner for years and years, but I assure this is an unbiased review! They have tons to chose from ranging from comfort food, to tasty salads and everything in between. My husband and I get their black bean burger regularly and it has yet to disappoint us. If you don’t get the corn fritters you are letting yourself down! They are addicting and you must try them! The meatloaf is good, just like mama makes, the veggie selection is huge, the salads are large and oh-so-satisfying. There’s literally something for everyone. Come for breakfast too! Home style cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Love the Old Neighborhood Grill. Such a comfy little spot. There chicken fried steak is delicious, and some roasted squash and zucchini are one of my favs! Don’t forget a slice of pie! This is the place to come when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy, noisy restaurants and just get some good ol’ fashion comfort food!

Great food! This was my second time eating here. The first time was for breakfast, I got an omelet, it was very good! Today I got a BLT and it was really good too! Loaded with bacon, the French fries were good too! Good atmosphere, I will be returning in the future.

I’m very glad we finally tried this place. We live right around the corner from«ONG» as my wife affectionately now calls it. This place was great. The service was friendly and helpful, and very receptive that it was our first time visit. I will say the set up is a little strange, not because ordering at a counter is strange, but ordering such quality, made to order in this fashion seems weird. Once you order from the counter and sit, it basically turns into full service, where a waiter will bring your drinks, condiments, food, etc. ONG has a great selection of choices from Italian, to burgers to salads to seafood. There is definitely something for everyone in your group or family. I had grilled snapper with a salad and green beans, and the wife had 2 generous pork chops with cinnamon apples and asparagus. Everything was delicious. We are looking forward to going back! Beware: Closed on Sundays.

After years of hearing everyone talk about this place I finally tried it. Was an easy location to get to. Staff was very friendly and there were plenty of places to sit. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak(3 of us all ordered same). The food arrived at our table in less than 5 minutes. While this sounds nice, I was concerned because fresh chicken fried steak definitely takes longer than 5 minutes to cook, plate, etc. Ends up they must have had steaks already cooked and ready. When we got them they were tough and barely warm. They don’t provide steak knives but these certainly needed it. They did have hot gravy on them but that only mildly warmed the steak. The side dishes were all cold and none of us ate them. I had a side of gumbo and my first bite was a cold bay leaf left in the bowl with cold gumbo. I will say, I rarely complain and did not in this case. So they did not have a chance to make this right. I simply was tired and disappointed so we just politely left.

I love this place it’s tucked away in a shopping center, but once you have a meal their you’ll never forget where to find this place! They have the best biscuits and you can actually taste the beer in it! I would definitely go here over IHOP any day!

One of my all time favorite grills in Fort Worth… Owned by a long time Fort Worth restaurateur. Breakfast ends at 10:30am so get there early… Service is always good. …

Great little neighborhood restaurant! Hunter took our order and was very nice. The garden salad was delicious and was made even better by the great dressing. The chicken fried steak was well prepared; lightly breaded and tender. The cream gravy was very good and was made to the perfect consistency. We tried the fried green beans which were good, but I have to admit that I felt guilty with each bite knowing that I had taken a healthy bean and turned it into a heart hardening bad vegetable, if you could still call it a vegetable. Lol. All in all our experience was good. On the way out we saw another table that had a plate of big, thick onion rings. We know what we’re trying next time we come.

Big ‘ol giant menu of comfort food. This would be cool if you could sit at a table and peruse the menu, but my experience with the counter service is that they are impatient. My guess is that there’s always a quickly accumulating line of geriatric regulars behind you that know what they want. So stand aside if it’s your first time! Food’s really pretty good though. Stuff yo’ Grandma would make… If yo’ grandma is/was American and likes making comfort food.(My gramma [“Lola”] lives on a rice paddy in a developing country, sooo not trying to leave you other first genners out!).
