I’ve only been here for breakfast, because it’s so good I cant move on. I normal order the griddle special with blueberry pancakes(you can get them inside the batter OR on top) The service is super friendly and they always make sure your cup is full of warm coffee. I want to try this place out for lunch or dinner the next time I’m craving some good diner food.

Greasy. Spoon. So. Good. Okay, look, this isn’t great cuisine. It’s great«home cooking» with good prices and is a bad habit for your waistline. But everything I’ve had this has been done well and it’s one of the best breakfast restaurants in town.

That was kinda sad. I saw the pics and thought it would be better. Chicken fried steak was not flavorful. Looks quite large, but once dissected, it’s a pretty small piece of meat. «real» potatoes, as they boasted were also lack-luster. Pretty sure the broccoli was freshly defrosted. Finally, with every meal you get one of their«famous» cinnamon rolls. AAAAND disappointment again. The final what the heck comes from the fact that all the staff was audibly gritching about their jobs, hours they had to work, etc. Won’t be headed back…

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! It’s a gem. The breakfast is to die for, no matter what you order. Sit by a jukebox and enjoy a selection. Or by the tv and enjoy the game. Get a cinnamon roll to share. And a ginormous chocolate cream pie. The décor is so fun and old fashioned, such a down home gem in the midst of the city. Beware a wait, they are super popular, but so worth it. The water is gross but that’s not their fault… it’s the city. Must try!

Cinamin Rolls are amazing! But when i was at the restaurant an employee ran out of the kitchen and said don’t eat here anymore theres fuzz growing on the mold in the corner of the kitchen. Very disgusting. I would not eat here anymore because of how disgusting this kitchen, where our food is made, is not clean.

This is my first visit here. Very impressed. Lines were long but moved fast. You can tell it’s a good eating place when people don’t mind waiting! The wait staff was very cordial and attentive. Our food came out and it looked and tasted yummy. We had their breakfast special: Effe’s Breakfast which consisted of 2 Aigs, 2 bacons, 1 sausage, hash towns and 2 pancakes. Very filling for me. I heard customers racing about their cinnamon rolls. Something to try next time. Their mile high pies looked delish although I did not get to partake.

Today I give 4 stars. The pancakes were really good and hit the spot. This would be a really great place if the food and service were consistently good. I have not been here since I redeemed my Groupon. At that time I felt very unwanted.

I’m not from Texas. I’ve only been to the south twice. I’m from Nevada. In Nevada we don’t generally see portions of food larger than our dinner tables and we don’t order sweet tea. We don’t have fun names for food and we don’t have a love for grease. I am not writing this review from a Southerners point of view. I’m writing it from the point of someone who found this experience very unique — if you are not used to Southern food and what to try it out read on: My 16 year old son and I drove by this place by accident and saw the words«Old Tyme» on the window which peaked our interest. The next morning we decided to give it a try for breakfast! The place is an average size for a diner. Very«small town» home kind of feel and very crowded too boot. It was hard to figure out which line was for check in and which line was for paying. We were told about 10 – 15 minutes so we took a seat on the one bench available. Our waitress was very nice and made great conversation. The walls are covered in fun décor and they have a shelf that goes along the right wall holding nothing but different cookie jars which was unique. Each table next to a wall as a fun mini juke box that actually works! Put your quarter in and pick a song and you will hear it playing through the restaurant. You can also get a free cinnamon roll if you follow the directions on the wall! The food was decent. Now — this is coming from someone not used to Southern cooking. The biscuits were delectable but there was so much grease on them that the paper in the basket they were served in became translucent. My son had a meat filled crêpe thing that he loved and was topped with powdered sugar. I ended up ordering a side of pancakes with what was supposed to be biscuits topped with eggs(they called them aigs) and gravy. The gravy was very bland though and it looked as if I would gain 20 pounds straight to the thighs if I dared eat it. I actually sent it back and ate the pancakes instead. The best part of the meal(besides the experience itself) was the Cinnamon roll. It melted in my mouth — it put cinnabon to shame. Hands down 100% no doubt at all that was the best Cinnamon Roll I’ve ever had — like ever. Seriously. I would go again and order pancakes and 5 Cinnamon Rolls.

This could be my new breakfast spot. i was told about this place and was not disappointed. the place was pretty packed but we only had to wait 10 to15 minutes. we were sat down and as we were waiting for the waitress I was looking around and this place has the old time rustic look and feel to it. old pictures on the wall old pots and even one of those old counter radios on the table. well after taking all that in we looked at the menu and ordered. i ordered the Texas scramble which is eggs two biscuits and sausage all topped off gray on top of it. all that was only 5.59.i also ordered a apple cinnamon pancake on the side. everything was really good along with the service. i will for sure be back. even though this place is out of my way. oh yea don’t forget to grab one of their famous cinnamon rolls on the way out. pretty tasty.

Friendly country cookin’ Everything is «fraish» vs. fresh. The Forever Chicken could feed a family of 4. Delicious food! No frills, stuffed to the gills type of eatery. WARNING! Do NOT order sodas here unless you want to pay $ 2.50 for something other than water. A fountain drink includes free refills, but that is still overcharging as far as I’m concerned.

The staff was great and friendly. When the rolls arrived, they were heavy and doughy. The food portions were appropriate for the price. My grilled chicken was over cooked and dry. We didn’t need to order dessert because the waitress brought cinnamon buns to the table with our meals.(They were included.) It was just ok.
